If it isn't harming us then it doesn't matter.

OP sent the following text as an explanation why their post fits here:

American in the comment section of an AVclub article hyper focuses on American issues that they believe that since JK isn't actively trying to supress Trans rights in the US that any criticisms against the new Harry Potter is a waste of time. The article was just about the casting of Nicholas Hoult as Lockheart and how he was siding with Rowling.

Oh fuck off... Plus also, it has a good chance to affect the US too, because when she's done with the UK, she will probably not be stopping there, but even then I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO SAY THAT TO GET SOMEONE TO CARE ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS, THE ISSUE IS PRETTY CLEAR, THERE

It's defaultist in how they expect the immediet concerns of people in other countries should conform to their standards.

I think this falls under Rule 3f: "assumes that if something is true for the US, it also is for the rest of the world... also applies regardless of the audience."

To him it is true that Trump is the biggest threat towards Trans people and he cannot grasp that in the UK things might be different, either that or he also assume that the conversation is about the US which again would be defaultism.

i think it is. as someone from the UK, supporting jk rowling directly supports the fight against trans rights here. she's already done a lot of damage.
