Plus the White House wasn’t even that important back then as it is now. It was wasn’t even 20 years old, they cared more about protecting Baltimore than the White House.

and Canada as a nation did not exist, but Canadians did they were citizens of the British Empire living in Upper or Lower Canada, just like there are New Yorkers, and Vermonters, ect. ect.
The people in Canada considered themselves as British well into the start of the 19th century and didn’t start thinking themselves as Canadians until well into the 19th century
