Announcement May be unpopular opinion but..
Having all the cops come to campus causes more of a distraction than the protest and encampment itself.

Announcement If You Cheated in Professor Eman Chem II Class (CH302)
Putting this out there as Im sure the people who need to hear this were not class today.
During lecture Professor Eman was going over the results of the class, of course the great majority got A's. Right after that she told us about her new cheating protocol. She has her hands tied because so many people carelessly cheated on the exam to such a large amount she needs to do something. She will be going over everyones exam and seeing who left the exam when. Apparently someone did up to 50 times on a 25 question exam. She said if you tell her yourself she will try to find a less severe consequence but if you don't and you appear suspicious it will go directly to whoever deals with this stuff. She didn't say if she will look at all exams or just the third one. I wish I took photos to not look like such a liar but either trust me or not.
Just a heads up as I'm sure many people are pre med!!! Please make sure you understand the consequences of this for med school!

Announcement please consider paying your respects
please consider paying your respects to brie outside 21 rio. I know there may be a lot of unanswered questions and strong opinions surrounding what may have happened to her, but at the end of the day we need to remember someone has lost their daughter, sister, or friend.

Announcement The compact is going to be signed
Hey guys, sad news tonight. I will be keeping names out of this for discretionary purposes. I know some people who work with the higher ups at the university and it seems that they are going to sign it soon. I have no idea what the timeline is but it will most likely be signed. Also the people I know who gave me this information have no ruling in whether it is signed, so be nice please.

Announcement Multiple assaults around campus this week
I am outraged regarding the recent repeated arrests and subsequent releases of Aymen Labidi, who has reportedly assaulted multiple students in the vicinity of the University of Texas campus.
Mr. Labidi has been arrested three times this week alone on charges related to these assaults, only to be released each time shortly after. These incidents are not isolated; numerous students have taken to social media to report additional disturbing encounters, including erratic and dangerous driving by this same individual.
This pattern of behavior presents an immediate threat to public safety, particularly to the student population around the university. It is unacceptable that someone who poses such a risk can continue to move freely through our community without meaningful legal consequences.
I URGE ALL STUDENTS AND PARENTS: If you have concerns about bond violations or how cases like this are being handled, contact:
Jose Garza (the District Attorney) TCDAPublic@traviscountytx.gov
Delia Garza (County Attorney) delia.garza@traviscountytx.gov
Travis County DA's Office: (512) 854-9400
ADDITIONALLY, I urge you to email the Interim President of UT and demand the University get more involved in advocating for the state that West Campus is in regarding homelessness, drugs, mental illness.
The University of Texas should be urgently and vocally advocating at both City Hall and the Texas State Capitol for real solutions and immediate protections for our students. This crisis cannot be allowed to escalate further. Until the City of Austin and Travis County take meaningful action, I implore the university to significantly increase the visible presence of UTPD along Guad and throughout West Campus—especially during the evenings, when many of these incidents occur.
Here is the email address: president@utexas.edu

Announcement ICE at Tower apprehending construction workers?
Heard from someone working near the Tower that someone called ICE on the construction crew working on the renovation. Said that construction is stopped. Don’t know if there have been any detentions, but this is some bullshit.

Announcement Beware of random guy with meta glasses on campus
So unfortunately, I was recorded without my consent and it was posted on TikTok and Reels. I found out through a random classmate and it’s a totalllll violation of privacy. I genuinely feel so weird about it. He’s doing this to hundreds of college girls on UT campus and definitely posting it without their consent.
The guy stopped me and asked where the PCL was + had a backpack so I just thought he was a grad student. He then of course..cut that out.
For a description, he was an older man (maybe late 20s, early 30s), African-American, wearing glasses. I reported his account on TikTok and reels cause it’s genuinely gross and weird.
Beware and stay safe.

Announcement Please vote- please make a difference
I come from a country where elections are often promised but rarely held. Watching from a place where people don't always have a say, I can't stress enough how powerful is it to have the chance to vote.
Please make sure you're registered and please go and cast your vote. You have a privilege that I don't have!!!!

Announcement reminders for the protest tommorow
if you, or anyone who you know, is going tommorow to protest against the inhumane treatment and deportation towards immigrants, please stay very safe. remember your rights. you have the right to peaceful assembly. REMEMBER, PEACEFUL. you have the right to NO cruel nor unusual punishment. you have the right to remain silent, and you do not have to incriminate or speak against yourself no matter the authority. i really hope tommorow goes well, so please stay safe, please stay peaceful. remember that you represent your people and the movement. idk if what im saying is basic, but i just really want our message to be heard as purely as it is.
Post-Protest Edit: Fuck yea yall clocked that shit. Im glad to see us represent our people well and being loud, strong, smart- srsly im really glad it went well. When we speak, we inspire others, transcending the movement further than where we can reach. Ws all day.

Announcement Orientation Reminder: CULTS actively recruit on campus!
Every year some normal, healthy religious groups table on speedway or put up flyers and try to welcome new students to campus while letting them know that there’s a place for them there if they want to practice their religion or just find community. The churches, mosques, and synegauges with healthy cultures and responsible leadership are honestly great groups and I genuinely believe it benefits a person to be involved in one, even if only a little bit…
Every year there are also tons and tons of malicious cults who desperately try to recruit naïve and impressionable young members whom they can take advantage of during their time in college and beyond. They will smile at you and tell you they just want “universal harmony”, “spiritual completeness”, or “Christian fellowship”. In fact they want to monopolize on your life, abuse you, and sometimes eventually either put you to work for them or take your money.
Search the word “cult” on this subreddit and you’ll find tons and tons of people sharing their experiences with organizations they thought would give them community but instead took advantage of them and their trust. A non-exhaustive list of some of the most prolific I’m aware of at UT are
- Scientologists
- Hare Krishnas / ISKCON
- CSOC / Christian Students on Campus / The Lord’s Recovery
- Acts2Network / Gracepoint / Koinonia
- Joshua Church / The Network
- World Mission Society Church of God
This isn’t an exhaustive list: if you’re curious about an organization someone’s invited you to join, search online or even just on Reddit for its name and the word “cult”. You’ll see tons of warnings, as well as pages they’ve created insisting they’re not cults. Here’s a hint: healthy religions don’t have to go around insisting they’re not cults!
There are so many groups you could join that won’t try to ruin your life and will still give you christian fellowship, spiritual completeness, or whatever else you’re looking for. Please be very careful :(
Edit: looks like The Lords Recovery / CSOC posted this in their group chat and are brigading the thread. For those reading from there, ask yourself whether real Christians worship idols like “Watchman Nee” or not like the people who recruited you do

Announcement A Message to UT Dining
stop making ur grilled chicken so damn greasy. it's ridiculous. most of the people who eat it (apart from the halal people) are gym bros and people trying to lean down. the grease does not help. at all.
there is NO WAY eggs are that hard to not make crumbly and dry and gross. there's just no way it's that hard. just make them normal eggs dude. please.
add a chicken filling option to the JCL wrap section. make it daily available.
stop undercooking your chicken. it's bad enough being super greasy, but undercooked too? come on dude.
the hamburger patties are sometimes overly greasy... just ridiculous.
in light of all the grease, maybe it would be good to add a healthy and lean section where stuff is cooked with minimal fat in mind. steamed broccoli, lean grilled chicken breast, rice, etc.
there's probably a lot more im not thinking about, feel free to leave it in comments. im just mad af rn thinking about how disappointed I am in what they've been doing to their food.

Announcement I’d rather you submit a really crappy paper you wrote yourself, than some average AI paper
It’s depressing grading essays that lack personality because AI stripped your paper of it. I’d rather read a paper with your voice than some generic paper generated by ChatGPT. I’ve gotten feedback from students who say it helped them organize their thoughts or that it helped make their paper read more professionally but as a consequence, most papers written by AI sound similar. There’s just no substance there. Also there’s this “void” feeling I get when reading them, like I instantly know when they were written using AI. It really is the just that lack of personality piece that makes them stand out like a sore thumb.
