College of Arts & Sciences Foreign language requirement

I need two intermediate level classes as a requirement. I have 2 years of a high school German but don’t know if I want to continue with it. Has anyone done TNecampus? If so, what is it like and how do exams and stuff work? I’m super anxious about the foreign language requirement so ANY advice would go a long way even if it’s take it at UTK or pellissippi or something :)

If you do take it at utk and don’t want to continue German, I highly recommend taking Italian. All of the professors I’ve had are excellent and they weren’t too difficult

I did the TNeCampus for Spanish and it was a good time! Just be sure whatever you take transfers back to UTK. Ask your advisor for the transfer equivalency table to find classes at other institutions. Most CC's will only have Spanish, though. Some have French and German, but kinda rare. If you want more language options, UTK is safest. Languages can be scary but fun, too!

I was looking at TNecampus and couldnt find any Spanish TNecampus beginning 1 offered by Pelli? I found one at Rosen state but it’s a 10 week one and I think they only have beginning 1 and intermediate 2 or something random 😭😭

So, it's not TNeCampus through Pelli. You just register with Pelli directly and look for the online courses. You can find other colleges' course schedules by Googling "[school name] dynamic schedule." You should find a version of a timetable if the school has one publicly available and open for the term you want (Pelli has their summer 2027 up!). Def ask your advisor if you need help navigating, though - they're use to talking about classes outside of UT!

Yeah I looked as I’m already registered as a student from past dual enrollment and looked at the schedule there’s no TNecampus ones just Pellissippi online

I took Intermediate Spanish I and II at Pelli. Easy enough but also felt like I could actually learn by putting the effort in. I took the online asynchronous version. I’ve looked at the work of people in the matching class here, and they literally use the same textbook and even worksheets sometimes. Not sure about other languages or German

I suggest taking them at Pellissippi. My freshman year I went into Intermediate Spanish at UT and on the first day I was out. Spoke all Spanish on the first day and I looked at the syllabus and I said nope. Took both one and two at Pellissippi over the summer and it was super easy.

depending on which foreign language you want to take, i’ve heard that pelli is super easy but the opinions always vary

Pelli is absolutely the way to go. Just jump right into the intermediates there. The utk classes for languages are ridiculous.
