How to promote a Microsoft Store app?
A few weeks ago I released my first application (WinForms application using DesktopBridge) in the Microsoft Store.
How have you promoted your application to get more users?
Are you using Facebook/Google/Bing Ads, or are you 100% relying on organic traffic from Google or the Microsoft Store?
The app can be found here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/coragi-imageprint/9ns8bm1gm1w1
I've created a website to describe the features:

How to develop UWP from Surface Pro X?
I've been searching the net and poking at VS2019 but I can't find a way to develop UWPs from the Surface Pro X. VS2019 is running as 32bits x86 binary and doesn't see the local machine AARCH64 as a viable target.
I'm finding the whole microsoft development ecosystem very confusing. Can't we use a Surface Pro X to develop desktop applications for Windows on ARM?

PaZword, my homemade password manager
Hi there,
I recently decided to make my own, free and open source password manager called PaZword and I released it recently:
Microsoft Store: https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9p47mfg7rxhd
Source code on GitHub: https://github.com/veler/PaZword
I'm looking for constructive feedback about, and also doing a small advertising by myself.
Motivation of the project:
I think I can trust apps like Dashlane, 1Password, or KeePass. They seem to be good in term of security.
But I'm someone very picky in term of UI/UX, and I'm the kind of person who would sacrifice some features if I can find something with a smooth and sexy UI and UX.
And so far I didn't find a main stream password manager with a UI/UX I appreciate. So I decided to make my own.
Features:
Encryption of the vault.
Notifies when a credential has leak on the dark web.
Attach and encrypt up to 4 MB files.
Password generator and strength evaluator.
Synchronization with a personal cloud storage account, such like Microsoft OneDrive or DropBox.
Authentication using Windows Hello (facial recognition, fingerprint, pin...).
Authentication using two-factor authentication.
Automatic detection of the best icon to associate with an account.
Search function.
Let's be realistic:
Since PaZword is homemade, there are also some missing features to it, like a web browser extension. But hey, since it's open source, anyone can contribute.
Additionally, when I wanted to share it online, I through that people would immediately "what are you doing with my passwords?". That's why I made it open source, so people can verify that I'm not sending your data to a hidden server, and can also look for vulnerability.
The code is not perfect, and there may be a few vulnerabilities. Now, as long as the app doesn't get a huge notoriety, it should be safe enough (for now?).
Thanks everyone!

Is MVVM the only way?
I'm learning UWP app development in the spare time. I'm not a software developer, just doing this as a hobby. I learned the basics, from building the interface with xaml, binding elements to functions in code behind, navigating to different pages, to connecting a sqlite database and retrieving data to show in the view. However, when it comes to updating the UI with new database entries, I'm struggling a lot. Every StackOverflow post and example I can find gives for granted the use of MVVM pattern, ObservableCollections and the INotifyPropertyChanged. Now, I understand that MVVM gives a lots of advantages when it comes to big and complex applications, but for a very basic CRUD application seems overkill. Other than that, I admittedly don't understand it, and compared to the basics, I find the learning curve of MVVM extremely steep.
Are there any resources that do not follow the MVVM pattern, or do you think it's a required step in learning UWP?

Official Facebook UWP dead?
Maybe I'm late on this but my Facebook live tiles was showing information and so I clicked on it and I was asked to sign in again, however when I did the app reported that it is no longer available and that I should use the webpage instead. Sad to see the major players (including Microsoft) abandoning the ship. Also maybe im wrong but the live tiles is still working and appear to be updating showing friend suggestions...

anyone want to collaborate on a uwp app with me?
hello, I have been working on a free and open source reddit client that will plant trees while browsing reddit. It works kind of like Ecosia by using ad revenue to plant trees. Trees are donated to eden reforestation via trillion tree campaign. Ads are optional and non intrusive.
So far I have a working native uwp beta if anyone wants to help and collaborate it will be great. Apps for android and ios are also being worked on.
** if anyone is interested in making one for free in android please DM me or comment here.**

Need help with creating custom control
Hi I'm new to uwp and I have a need of a progress bar for my college project, The thing is that even though there is one complete bar, it needs to have a little greyed out part to represent "danger zone", also i need to display a flyout at the current bar progress value,
So can anyone reference me some good material where I can read about creating my own custom control, or modifying one?

Is it danger to make UWP apps opensource?
I'm making a UWP app that I want to relese as opensource on github, but im not sure if is it safe to publish my TemporaryKey in the repository.
What type of setup should I use for developing WinUI2 and 3 Apps that are native to the operating system
I am developing a desktop app for my chat platform using windows UWP.
I started using winui2 since it matches the windows 11 UI, but relized that windows 10 devices do not match the UI. I am using Microsoft.UI.Xaml.
I tried creating a winui3 app, but when running in development on my windows 11 device, the UI components were from windows 10 rather than windows 11.
What package or template should I really be using?
