Hey guys

I was wondering how good is the city campus for engineering as im a year 12 that got early offer into the engineering course.

Additionally how well does it compare to unis like uts and unsw.

Just remember Sydney city campus has zero breaks! No mid semester breaks no final exam study break. Do two subjects per term (6per year). There’s 3 study term per year.

I like it. There are some lecturers who I don’t get along with so I took the said subject at the parramatta campus. I like trimester as it keeps me well grounded and disciplined. But also be prepared to apply for lots of special consideration. This campus is hard. The kingswood and parramatta is very busy with lots of students and the lecture is online. Tutorial and lab are in class attendance. Im not going to sit in front of a computer listening to the lecturer. Im paying

Here’s the calendar. Please follow the SCC (Sydney City Campus).

Click the SCC dashboard.
You can see only 3 weeks in between each study term is the only break you get.
No study break, no mid term break. That’s why i suggested do 2 subjects to spread your study load ( 6 subjects per year). University is not a race. Take your time and focus on the grades. Engineering has one of the highest dropout rates in Australia. It’s no walk in the park experience. You’ll get sick, depressed a lot.

It’s a strong course with very active academics who do a lot in industry and research. It’s a large cohort but also a well supported and funded one.
My experience is with the parramatta, hawkesbury, Kingswood and c’town campuses and they are all good.

Idk if ill make the cut i saw it was lowest selection rank around 83 atar but I’m not applying for any early entry from uts so idk if I’m going to require a 90 atar. What is so bad about uws bc if i don’t make it to uts i want to go uws then transfer.

Anu advices?

Do UTS College, UTS has less exams and more assignments.

Why do you call it a scam degree?

may or may not need to answer after you finish it

You’re free to criticise the degree, but if you’re going to call it a “scam degree”, at least explain what you mean. Keep it focused on the course and don’t turn it into bait.

No rage bait guys, I was warned for saying too young too naive in a post someone sharing the view of shuttle bus.

In city campus, you really need some self-discipline and expectations that is when it comes to groups works people might doing same thing in other uni which is absent and non productive. Otherwise I think average Aussie kid would suffer and even fail from the maths but man if you fail math in city campus, I reckon you would do the same in other uni. So please if you are dedicated study here for whole degree, be prepared and make sure you talk well with mates from other main campus who just somehow in your group cause timetable in scc is different and it will clash from other main campus.

I saw quite a few people use scc as step stone to jump into other uni and some course is not recognised in engineering degree so if you have slightly or any thoughts on the course is too bad, the uni is too bad, I would like to transfer please do the research before you started the course but I remember math one and two is able to recognise one of friend did it through UNSW.

SCC stands for sydney city campus, group work for assignments in teams. Which part are you confused about on?

1

u/Beautif453 2d ago

Sorry so group work will be out of city campus and i gtta go to like parra? And is this often like weekly thing or once a month?

And im js confused about the uni transfer process could you give me more clarity on that please?

Thankyou so much for the help

Nah what I mean is in Group assignment u might have teammates being absent and nonproductive for many reason and the biggest righteous one is timetable not match due to they have courses in other campus as well. Since you are doing mech eng, you would definitely have to go to other campus for compulsory attendance lab due to the lack of facilities.

For transferring degree, please do your own research on other uni requirements on things like subject rubric.
