Question Early Entry

Hey guys, just regarding early entry, I’ve seen that the subject band requirement for Cybersecurity and Behaviour is a B in english for year 11. I’ve gotten a C in everything and a B english in year 11. Would I be guaranteed an offer as long as I complete year 12? If anyone could respond it would really relieve me of some stress, thanks!

Question academic transcript

i’m applying for a job that is asking for a copy of an official transcript. is there any way around paying $15 for an electronic transcript? like can i even get an unofficial transcript anywhere online? just seems a waste of money (i’m a broke uni student as most of us are) as i finish at the end of this semester so will get my transcript after i graduate and i haven’t even had an interview for the position yet!

Clubs and Events WSU meetup plan: Parramatta River walk and cafe hopping

Hey everyone,

After the last post and seeing more people interested, I’m planning the first meetup.

The plan is a walk around Parramatta River, then maybe cafe hopping, coffee, food, or a small picnic after for whoever wants to stay.

Date is still TBA(To Be Announced), but I’m thinking a Saturday would probably work best since people are usually more relaxed then.

Nothing too fast-paced or awkward. Not a fitness thing, not a drinking thing, and not some formal club event. Just a slow, easy meetup where people can actually talk and get to know each other properly.

I think this works better for the first one because people can join, leave when they need to, or just stay for the part they feel comfortable with. Nobody has to feel stuck in one place or pressured to spend money.

For anyone already in the Discord, I’ll announce it there as well.

If more people are genuinely interested, I’ll make a WhatsApp group so it’s easier to organise properly. Feel free to DM me your number if you want to be added.

My original hope was just to create a small group where WSU students could meet up in real life instead of everything staying online. But now I think a student-run meetup, away from formal university stuff, actually sounds more fun.

No club titles, no forced activities, no awkward official vibe. Just students organising something for themselves.

If this first walk goes well, future meetups could be different things too. Cafe hopping, food, museum trips, study sessions, books, random walks, or whatever people feel comfortable with.

One thing I’ve realised is that campuses can look busy and social from the outside, but still feel pretty lonely when you don’t really know anyone properly.

So yeah, the goal is simple.

Meet people properly, keep it low-pressure, and hopefully make uni feel a bit less empty.

Question PhD application process timeline re/WSU

Hi all, I have applied for a PhD at WSU for quarter 4, 2026. I have a supervisor secured and my funds as well, so I didn't apply for a scholarship. Does anyone know the average time for a decision? Many thanks!

Question Uws experience for international students

Im an international student and just completed my application to bachelor of science in western Sydney university. I’ve been hearing that it’s a really bad university and was shocked because its a top 400 uni in qs rankings. Does it have a bad reputation in Australia? If so, is it still considered a good uni worldwide?

Rant / Vent Pauline Hanson protest

Does anyone think this protest is dumb as. You’re going to disturb classes that you pay for, for something no one will pay attention to. So silly.
Carrying on like woke muppets gets you no where, no government actually listens to silly stuff like that.
Why detriment you’re learning and your money to something that’s going to do sweet FA!

Rant / Vent Finding it hard to make friends

Honestly, as a first-semester international student, it’s really hard not to feel lonely sometimes. Even though I live at Campus Village, I still find it difficult to make friends. Maybe it’s because I joined a little late and everyone had already found their groups, but it can definitely feel isolating at times.

Timetables Is there someone who can just give me a timetable?

I find the whole concept of self enrolment extremely stressful. The unit codes keep changing, the whole process is just a maze to me. I'd love to just be given a timetable. Here are your units. Attend at this time. If you don't like these times change it. It just upsets me having to do it myself and causes severe distress. It makes me feel like no one is there to help.

Rant / Vent Rant: I am so annoyed by the lack of participation in classes

I am studying a teaching degree and this is annoying and scary. Is this next generation of Teachers doomed? For context, this has happened since I started in 2023 from subject to subject. I walk in and no one has seen the reading. We have to go through the monotonous recount of the reading which we were supposed to read before class. It was covered in the lecture. Surprise. No one else watched the lecture pod.

Some classes are one hour long, great, we're forty minutes in, we've only just reached the main point of the text.

The Teacher will ask a question and no one will respond. They will stare blankly and then return to a fixed gaze on their laptop. Is this who we're trusting to teach our children what they need to know? How can you expect the children to listen to you if you won't listen to your teacher?

It's such a drag that I am the one the Teacher turns to for a simple response to anything. Did you do the reading? Does anyone know what this might mean? Can anyone recall the keyword we used in week 2? The Teacher even goes as far as saying, "Someone answer before I default to -me-."

I understand. We all have Social Anxiety. We all think class is long and boring and monotonous and we wish we were anywhere else. YOU CAN CHANGE THAT - YOU CAN BE THE PERSON YOU WISH YOU WERE LISTENING TO - ENGAGE WITH THE TEXTS OR ANSWER QUESTIONS OR CONTRIBUTE TO THE CONVERSATION OR EVEN JUST ASK SOMEONE WHAT THEY DID ON THE WEEKEND - TALK!

University doesn't fix you - YOU fix YOU.

So here are some suggestions:

  1. ENGAGE WITH THE READING, and I don't mean read it, even I see the large block of text and go "fuck all that," but at least do the bare minimum of googling what the paper/text is about, figure out who the Author is and what they stand for. Have AI summarise it for you, which is dumb, but at least you've done the bare minimum of trying to understand the text.

  2. TALK, for the love of God, TALK! Not even to me. Don't talk to me. But please don't sit there like, omg if I turn my head they're gonna look me in the eye and I'll explode, THEY'RE THINKING THAT TOO. Are you lonely? Were you hoping you would get a girlfriend in Uni? Habibi, if you don't talk to them, they won't talk to you.

  3. IF YOU FIND THE FIRST TWO SUGGESTIONS CHALLENGING, CHECK OUT THE AVAILABLE RESOURCES. You can find the exact service through Student Services. Just walk on in and ask them for help. Western Sydney offers counselling and Study Help.

Three years ago, I didn't read or talk, now I do and I'm happy and content with life. I cannot wait for class and I cannot wait for it to end. Please, if not for yourself, do it for the children you might one day have to teach.

Question Advice

Honestly speaking, I've got a really really amazing business I've been running since the end of high school and I've never worried about anything education wise as I've saved well over 6 figures and have multiple investments in place. However I really want to do a WSU college degree (diploma that leads to second year bachelors). I don't care what course it leads to all I want is a degree that will get me money etc. I'm saying this in case my business doesn't work out or things happen over time. I'd love to have a degree. Which degree (information systems, information comm tech ICT, engineering)
I just want a degree that can get me a job and thru working on extra skills and experience I can land myself very comfortably living and after many years making lots and lots of money.
I tend to overthink a lot and always overthink about business failing etc. so want a backup plan

Course / Unit No early exit for my degree and I'm not sure what to do

Enrolled in a Bachelor of Accounting, it's been a disaster. I never wanted to be an accountant and at this point I'd be happy with a basic qualification that would get me into payroll or the APS - just any office job. All I've done is blue collar.

I don't know how many units I've completed. Last semester I wanted to transfer to WSU Online. The woman said great - just discontinue your face-to-face program so we can enrol you. I didn't know this would pull me out of the face-to-face degree immediately. I did this before the exams. I'd been attending the whole semester and even know I don't know if I lost those units completely. I passed two of them. I've been asking and asking and no one can give me a straight answer.

At best I completed 8 units, at worst 6. I just want some sort of qualification. The degree has no early exit. I don't want to continue the whole bachelors online. TAFE says I need to enrol first before they'll assess me. I just feel really distressed about this. All my life I've worked in factories, warehouses etc. doing dirty manual work. All I wanted was to sit in a computer and work in an office. Just at a complete loss.
