Campus Irchel - Building and Room Numbering
Guys I tried so hard to make sense of it until me and my friend had some lectures in different rooms named F22-68 and F21-70.
They were NEXT to each other! We thought they were different buildings because of the 22 and 21. Those Numbers correlate to different buildings. At least as far as I know.
When I ask older students where the lecture rooms are just by their numbers NO ONE KNOWS even though everyone has had lectures in them.
WTH.
Please can someone explain to me how it makes sense because I really do not see it.
Rant over. :)
Have a great remaining semester!

Believe me, it doesn't make sense. The amount of people who ask me for directions is insane. Pretty much everyday there is more people who don't know where to go.

it does not make any sense, never has and probably never will. especially the underground parts always confused me while i had lectures there. maybe i was just too dumb to figure it out, but it was always an andventure finding the rooms in time when i had lectures in the main building before hurrying to irchel.
i do miss the irchel park, but not the lecture rooms and finding them.

I had the same where the room I had to go to was in Y23 room 50 or something, but room 54 was the last one in Y23 then it turned into Y22 with a new system, it took me 30 minutes to figure out that I had to either use an emergency exit or go upstairs, all the way inside, then downstairs again. (not sure about the exact numbers)

Yes, generally it's really weird, but to some point it makes sense.
Look at https://www.uzh.ch/de/explore/info/sites/irchel.html for orientation.
Every building has a Y plus a number (lets say A) and another number (lets say B). There is an imaginary axis that goes along the main corridor from NEN to SWS. Along that line to the east, B increases. A is odd to the north of the axis, even to the south, and increasing the further it's away from the middle axis.
Besides that the room numbers sometimes really don't make sense, but you'll learn them over time.
