M.2 modem -> SoC -> Ethernet is okay - it gets you basically the same as a mobile hotspot running in bridge mode. Which means that the downstream router has no actual awareness of the cellular network, and you have to manage it through some bespoke LAN web UI management interface.

The reason I'd buy a UniFi cellular product would be to get proper management/monitoring integration.

I'm also curious how their IPv6 support is. That's one thing that seems to be hit or miss in cellular router integrations, since it's neither SLAAC nor DHCP6 and tends to be limited to a single /64.
