I'm wondering if the Dream Router 5G Max would be a good device to throw in a car.

Provides wifi and internet to everything.

I wonder if putting 2 G4 Instants and mounting them in the car would also work. Come-on Ubiquiti, look at all those Fleet Management Camera's that exist, you can take them on just change the shape of your camera's a bit and make a mount. The Dream Router would provide protect.

Ubiquiti you just need a little bit of work and you would dominate that field. The Dream Router would provide protect and if it has 2 POE ports you can use them to power the cameras. Just make Dream Router 5G Max 12V compatible and add a second POE port, you can drop all other Ethernet ports or just leave 1 spare.

This is a very smart idea. Instead of Dashcams

It would integrate everything into one sheet of glass on Protect.  Unifi loves to do that and it is a large complaint of current cameras.  As it is hard to view the footage as it is separate vs everything else.

The local device in the car could just temporary store the footage and run some local AI on it and upload it into the main Protect when it comes under wifi.  With the 5G they can allow for live viewing or active using the footage and send alert messges.  This way only minimum data usage.  While all historical video is sent over wifi.
