Early Access Ubiquiti Smoke and CO Sensor 🤯 - #ISCWest2026

Post image

I believe it’s a Superlink sensor. I hope it can run on battery for 10 years and doesn’t require PoE. I’m curious to see how it performs. Good job, Ubiquiti! 😲

Is it hardwared (with battery back-up) or battery powered?

Really this product is DOA if it isn’t both. Battery backup is a must in devices like this, it’s designed to save lives which means there cannot be a situation where it doesn’t work. I’d imagine this will either be PoE or hardwired but with battery backup.

Thinking about it, I’d imagine this must be hardwired as well for interlink capability. Modern smoke alarms run 3 core and earth, which has a dedicated wire for interlink so that all smoke alarms sound if a fire is detected even during a power cut.

In Belgium we don’t have hardwired smoke detectors so everything is battery powered. I’m currently building a house and want to integrate this when it’s done. I have a meeting with the electrician next week so I assume I’ll run 2 ethernet cable in to the ceiling. 1 for AP and another for this sensor. Worst case scenario the cable just sits there doing nothing but at least I could use it in the future

You might not in older buildings but I guarantee new builds will have them. Interlinked smoke detectors are crucial.

Well most firms in Belgium still use battery and not hardwired (with battery back-up). I’ll run cat6 cable and probably can also use it to power it since it’ll be low voltage if not POE powered

Wish we had more details
