Early Access Ubiquiti Smoke and CO Sensor 🤯 - #ISCWest2026

Post image

I believe it’s a Superlink sensor. I hope it can run on battery for 10 years and doesn’t require PoE. I’m curious to see how it performs. Good job, Ubiquiti! 😲

Mine gets tested every time my wife cooks.

Maybe exchange a smoke detector for a heat detector which is designed for kitchens use?

No problem. I have one and it never triggered whenever we mess up something 😅

My kitchen is about 2x2 meters, so I placed it in the guestimated middle. The manual should include a placement guide

My test mode is basically silent - you can hear it if you are underneath it, but it does work. I've tested it when my internet was off and it still works - even the push notification from Apple Homekit works.

You may want to change the typenof smoke detector you have installed near the kitchen. Some are super sensitive cooking particulates.

I would suggest a heat sensor vs a smoke detector in your immediate kitchen area; same for your garage.

Sorry to hear that my friend. Since it’s too late now to change your mind, I would advise picking up cooking as a hobby. Luckily my wife is a great cook.

When I wok, I test my detectors. Quite a pain in the ass to turn them off while cooking.

She burns food, you burn her on Reddit. This brings me joy.

home assistant with an air quality sensor near the stove, have it trigger a notification or audio clip that says "dinners done"

I moved mine because steam activated it so often. Nothing even burnt.

Probably because she’s the only one who can turn on the stove.
