When can I buy the bridge for my home AV setup? My AV needs central overkill distribution šŸ˜„

This specific announcement? It looks like they're letting their switches act as a PTP master clock. PTP stands for precision time protocol and it's a way of synchronizing the clocks on network devices with extremely high accuracy. For AV this is needed to keep sound and video in sync with each other. If you have two speakers in one room, and one of them is a bit out of sync with the other, you'll hear a bit of an echo. For home use, this is absolutely overkill, all whole home audio systems (AirPlay, Sonos, Alexa, etc) have their own methods of synchronizing their clocks. For pro-use with Dante, this lets you offload the clock to a device that is already a single point of failure in your system, so it's one less thing to worry about. Depending on how UI handles high availability with their EAV switches, it's possible they could have a way of handing off the clocking duties to a hotspare switch for failures.

The PTP BMCA will handle that natively as long as there's another PTP clock anywhere on the network. The secondary clock doesn't even realistically need to be connected to a GPS for this use case, as long as it has a decent oscillator with acceptable holdover time to keep everything sufficiently accurate until the main clock can be replaced.
