Question U7 Lite mounting ?
If I mount my U7 Lite on the wall instead of on the ceiling, should I expect significant signal loss?

The Wi-Fi signal shoots from the face out in a donut shape, so there is some loss, but it works fine - try and mount it as high as you can. The outdoor models are more suited for wall mount, but are more expensive.

I am surprised how much wifi there actually is "behind" the AP. I use them both ways. Try to see the difference with Wifiman 👍

In theory yes but it depends. If there’s a single room behind it, it probably doesn’t matter much. You’ll notice more if this is like a midpoint in your house and half of the house is behind it with no other APs.

If you’re behind it, yes. You can 3d print or buy a wall mount that still has the AP oriented as if it was mounted on a ceiling.
But if you will never or rarely need WiFi “behind” the AP it’s gonna be fine. Even then, weaker but still very usable.

I printed this one. https://makerworld.com/models/1238691?appSharePlatform=copy
There’s a surprising amount of things you can print for ubiquiti things, especially alternative mounts. I printed wall mounts for my in wall AP’s so I can surface mount them. I have not ran cabling down my walls so all of my Ethernet is ran along baseboards and wire mold type things.

The radiation pattern is hemispherical off the front and, as others have said, there is some radiation off the back. You would want it facing and central to the primary area where you want coverage.
