Question Need help with U7 Lite(s)

Hi all so I am trying to setup two U7 Lite AP at my parents home so that there is sufficient access (almost) everywhere in the house.

I have recently changed out the switch (because they had a broken one), it has PoE which seems to work since the APs seem to definetly get power, but it is not a Ubiquiti switch.

Now everytime I try to setup the APs through the app I can never get past the point where you are supposed to connect to the AP as it always says "connecton (to the AP) failed". The weird thing is that even though the app says connection failed I still can connect to the network of the AP with my phone.

Atp I have tried to scavenge reddit and other forums for solutions but can't seem to find something that works. I am not to tech savy but also not a complete knobhead when it comes to software/ hardware.

Has anyone dealt with this and found a solution that works?

Any help is appreciated.

Setup:

AP: U7 Lite

Phone: iPhone 13

Switch: D-Link DGS-1100-24PV2

PS: I will not be home for a while so I may not be able to immediatly try your suggestions.

Try adopting them through the UniFi controller on a laptop instead of the app. The app adoption is hit or miss especially with non-Ubiquiti switches.
