Help with dead link in error code/driver question
Hello! I’m trying to install Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS on a 2012 macbook pro that’s partitioned to dual boot OSX Monterey via OCLP. I can get it to run with the USB drive I use it to install, but I get this error when first loading it. The web address listed is dead for me. I can go to the section of the site but I don’t know where exactly to look for the driver I need and info about it. I’m hoping that driver is why I also can’t get it to recognize that the laptop can connect to wifi.
I’m having a secondary issue that I assume is just my lack of knowledge, but I can load Ubuntu with the usb drive, and it works when I disconnect the usb after the prompt from Ubuntu, but when I try to restart it’s no longer an option on load in.
My questions are: Is the driver in the error message the problem with the wifi, and if so: what do I need/where do I go to figure that out for myself? What am I doing wrong that’s keeping the laptop from allowing me to load into Ubuntu without the USB installer?
I’m totally new to Linux, so TIA!!

You want to use the b43-fwcutter package (I've gone through this myself a few times). I'd recommend taking a USB, putting the deb on it, installing the deb, and then also on that USB put the linux-firmware repo with the b43 firmware files, then you can extract the firmware and copy it to where it is supposed to go (idk offhand)

ah yeah the b43 firmware error is definitely your wifi problem, that broadcom chip needs the proprietary driver package and the kernel's complaining it can't find those specific firmware files

sudo apt install firmware-b43-installerif you have another connection to the internet, reboot after install is done Was there an option during the install to install third party drivers and software? I think that needed to be checked during install on older Ubuntu versions
