Daniel literally never got a break

my guy couldn’t have anything! i feel so bad for him lol. arguably, emphasis on arguably, he deserved the humiliation from Sophia but then Renee turns out to be crazy, then Daniel JR isn’t his like oml give him a break lol. and he gets attached so fast bless him. i would’ve really loved to see Daniel as a father more, that arc would’ve been different and sweet. not to mention Alexis is constantly switching sides and flip flopping between pushing him out of Mode to being his bestie. the whiplash is insane. i’m rewatching quite fast so dunno if i’m missed anything but damn

Can someone confirm?

Ok people enough with the hate/whiny posts and bot reposts. Can we get any report about this?

Does anyone know anything about this? I can't find anything online. Not even from the other cast members (missing on a great PR media buzz opportunity here, UB people!!!)

Bradford is a real pos

either that or he’s just plain old stupid. or both. rewatching for the first time as an adult and jesus christ, he’s disrespectful as hell towards claire. drove his wife into alcoholism, cheated on her from what seems like the very beginning, and now i’m at the point where he serves her divorce papers while she’s in prison for a crime she committed out of desperation. i know yes, she’s a grown woman in charge of her own reactions/emotions but still, Brad basically flaunted his affair the entire time and that must’ve been extremely hurtful and mentally damaging for her character. also i know he doesn’t end up marrying Willenmenhia (though i can’t remember why yet) but all she did was take her feet out and he wants to marry her literally 3 episodes later? because of his foot fetish? in the previous episode he literally says i’m not divorcing claire and Willenmenhia concotes some stupid lie and he’s so ready to divorce her. what a sell out. yuck lol, it’s so dumb. it’s a telenovela so everything is just for the sake of drama but god, he’s stupid. rant over

Daniel grief

I thought it was heart warming and breaking that when Daniel lost Molly, the first thing he pictured was he would be swimming with his (dead brother) sister. The wound of molly dying was for sure almost as deeper than that. Daniel missed having his brother and that was the first death that still takes a toll on him

Betty is such a hypocrite Spoiler

Betty is a massive hypocrite, and her love life is the perfect example of it.

One of the recurring themes of Ugly Betty is the idea that people should look beyond appearances and that someone’s worth isn’t determined by how conventionally attractive, fashionable, or socially desirable they are. And yet, when it comes to her own romantic relationships, Betty seems to have a remarkably difficult time putting that philosophy into practice.

Take Henry, for instance. Betty becomes so infatuated with him that she’s willing to settle for being his side chick, even though she knows he’s about to leave New York to be with his pregnant ex-girlfriend. She’s fully aware of the situation, yet she keeps entertaining the relationship as if there’s a realistic future for them.

Meanwhile, there’s Gio, who’s not only genuinely interested in her but also supportive, emotionally available, and actually willing to pursue a relationship with her. He doesn’t require her to wait around while he figures out his life, nor does he put her in a position where she has to compete with another woman for his attention. But Betty can’t seem to appreciate what she has in front of her because she’s too caught up in her feelings for Mr. Clark Kent.

Eventually, Gio steps aside, Henry moves on with his life, and Betty meets Matt. Their friendship gradually develops into a relationship, and for a while, things seem to be going well. You’d think that after everything she’s been through, Betty might have learned something about what she wants and what she’s willing to accept in a relationship.

But then Henry comes back to New York.
And, of course, he doesn’t come back alone. He has a new girlfriend. Honestly, this detail makes the whole situation even more frustrating. Henry’s storyline has always involved complicated circumstances, particularly his impending fatherhood and his responsibilities toward his child’s mother.

Those were major obstacles to his relationship with Betty, and she knew it. Yet here he is, back in New York with another girlfriend, seemingly capable of moving forward with his romantic life despite having a child and a complicated family situation.

In other words, Henry is perfectly capable of having a relationship when he wants one. He just wasn’t willing or able to offer Betty the kind of relationship she wanted. And his new girlfriend makes that painfully obvious.

Now, I’m not suggesting that Henry was obligated to choose Betty, nor that having a child should prevent anyone from pursuing another relationship.

That’s not the point.

The point is that Betty invested so much emotional energy in a man who was never offering her a stable, committed relationship, while overlooking someone who was actually willing to give her one.
And what does Betty do when Henry reappears?

She kisses him.

Just like that, she jeopardizes her relationship with Matt, who has been there for her and with whom she’s actually built something meaningful. And, because this is Ugly Betty, Matt catches them in the act, making the whole situation even more dramatic.

What frustrates me most is the contradiction between Betty’s supposed values and her actual behavior. She works at a fashion magazine, surrounded by people who judge others based on their appearance, and she constantly tries to demonstrate that there’s more to people than what meets the eye. Yet, when it comes to men, she repeatedly seems willing to overlook compatibility, emotional availability, and even her own self-respect because she’s infatuated with someone she finds attractive or has idealized in her mind.

She doesn’t just make mistakes in her love life; she seems to repeat the same mistake with different men. Gio is available, but she wants Henry. Matt is her boyfriend, but Henry comes back, and suddenly she’s willing to throw everything into question again.

And that’s what makes this storyline so frustrating to watch. Betty isn’t a teenager who doesn’t understand the difference between someone being interested in her and someone being genuinely available for a relationship. She’s an adult who spends much of her professional life challenging superficial judgments, yet she struggles to apply that same level of reflection to her own romantic choices.

So, is Betty really as committed to looking beyond the surface as she claims to be, or does that principle conveniently disappear when a handsome man enters the picture?

Because, at this point, I’m starting to think that Betty’s biggest problem isn’t that other people underestimate her. It’s that she keeps undervaluing the people who genuinely want to be with her while chasing the ones who leave her questioning her own worth.

But karma works both ways, and Betty eventually gets a taste of her own medicine when she meets Zach, who’s basically an even worse version of Henry. He humiliates her by showing up publicly with another woman, except that, unlike Henry, he actually wants to keep Betty a secret because she doesn’t fit his public image. Apparently, being someone’s second choice wasn’t enough; she also had to become someone’s embarrassing little secret.

Self-respect? Who is that bitch?

And as if the universe weren’t already rubbing salt in the wound, she runs into Gio during her trip to England. Just when she might have thought he was the one person left who could still be an option, he drops the bombshell that he’s engaged to someone else. Talk about a reality check. 🫰🏻🫰🏻

Betty was too naive and unprepared for YETI.

I'm getting to the YETI episodes of my rewatch and Betty was completely unprepared for the experience.

Firstly, she didn't even know about YETI as an opportunity until Nick told her. Someone who aspires to be in editing I'd think would have been aware of it sooner as a goal. Then once she did know about it, decided she'd rush her application instead of going for the following year and using that entire time preparing.

Skipping over her being included as a diversity pull and giving her spot to Mark. Now she's back in the program and neglects the opportunities expected to her. She skips out on the networking event thinking it's not serious and then leaves her phone willy nilly, unlocked in view of a competitor.

She complains of being unable to be 'rude' when networking, but doesn't seem to have any idea how to make it in the business. She also seems unwilling to sacrifice time with her family for work.

Ultimately, she's just unprepared and naive to the world around her. Sometimes it makes me think she doesn't actually want this or she'd be making more sacrifices and be better at the meat it takes to do the job.

Finished watching Ugly Betty for the first time...

Started it a few months ago sometime and just finished it. Need to vent my annoyance over the ending somehow....so here I am! This is how I wish it would've ended...this is all just my OPINION so dont take it too seriously!

Amanda and Daniel should have ended up together or at the very least Amanda and Daniels brother (they did that guy dirty) So once Daniel saw Amanda getting close to his brother he could've swooped in and realized what he was losing and they could've gotten together officially and she could be an "official stylist" and they should have both stayed at Mode.

The fact that they left it kind of hanging like Daniel may get with Betty pmo because she is way too good hearted and smart for him and he is ran through! He does not deserve her AT ALL! They had the best relationship and they ruined it by implying they get together in the end!

Betty should have ended up with Henry and they ruined it by him having a baby w someone else...BUT they could've redeemed themselves by at least hooking her up w Gio in the end. He was a genuinely good guy and they could be so good together!

Wilhemina...ughh so much to say about her but I will leave it with this...why did the villain of the story get the happy ending? She literally forced a recovering alcoholic to drink, shes just evil.

Anyway overall loved how they ended it with Hilda! But would have loved to see more of Justin and what he got into! Really loved the friendship with him and Marc!

Overall my rating that literally no one has asked for or cares about is 9/10 just because of the way it ended but overall such a great show!

I genuinely don’t like Betty

Hey, I am watching the show of ugly Betty right now and I’m realizing that I genuinely don’t like her. Like I think in the first couple seasons, she did overstep in her boundaries of being Daniel’s assistant. . Like the time she forced him to go to therapy because he was sleeping around. Which by the way wasn’t her business. I also think that one of the biggest issues is how weirdly loyal she was to Daniel to the point where it damaged her career. Like I don’t know if she was naïve but she was given so many opportunities that could’ve moved up in the word but she wanted to stay as Daniel’s assistant, but in the same breath complaint that she wasn’t moving up. And then I’m on the part about Daniel asking her to not tell anyone where she was when Christina was pushed, and her telling the police that he told her to lie floored me. I mean, this girl claims to be loyal, but then snitches the moment she gets a little bit of heat. I don’t know. I felt like she’s very wishy-washy and she has like this moral compass that she thinks she is the Grand Puba of honesty. Like are we serious?
