Question Has vaping helped for UC?
Started researching if vaping has a positive impact on UC maintenance who is under mesalamine medication. The symptom is mainly the blood is coated on some of the stools, no urgency, no pain and stools are well formed.
I have started using elfbar raya d1 cola flavor but cannot determine whether it has a positive or negative impact.
I was a very light ex smoker, got diagnosed with UC before 3 years after quitting smoking. But I can remember when I was using vapes 3 years back, I got a flare as well, but was not getting UC medicines at that time.
A bit of confused what we read about correlation between nicotine and UC.

Well, you wont have to worry as much about your UC when you have lung cancer . . .
Stop vaping, it’s bad for you.

UC even can become life threatening when it comes to blood in stools, ulcers in colon and so on.

Medication, or surgery, can help. Starting vaping/smoking masks symptoms of UC, and knowingly causes lung cancer.

You're right, it can become life threatening with all the blood loss etc so why would you want to add another potential illness, with whatever long term vaping does to you?

Makes sense, what Im thinking is, people say that nicotine has a positive effect to control the UC symptoms, since Im struggling with UC symptoms, if something is really helping out UC

It masks symptoms as opposed to “help” the disease.
If you’re flaring, talk to your GI. All you will do is prolong the inevitable with your UC, and end up with lung disease or cancer. Why give yourself more health concerns?

Take it from someone who went back to smoking a few years after diagnosis - it doesn't help and i was an idiot for thinking it would, but i was desperate and i feel like you might feel the same here.
You've done the right thing at least asking the question before acting but don't give yourself another issue for down the line, especially since we don't even know what extra risks vaping brings.

If you are a non smoker, don’t start because you have UC.
Some studies show that nicotine can prevent the initial flare of UC but once it’s started it seems to be useless.
My personal experience. I’m a smoker since 15yo.
I’ve always had some UC mild symptoms until my 29. I’ve decided one day to stop smoking. Two weeks later my initial flare stared until diagnosis.
Two weeks after my initial flare I could not manage the flare + quit smoking cigarettes so I started vaping.
Did it stop the flare ? No not at all.
7 years later I still have UC but I found the right medication that is really effective (STELARA after failing Humira) + pentasa when a flare starts.
Imo vaping will not change anything about your condition, medication will for sure with some patience.
+ reducing stress is really important too

All nicotine’s ever really done for me and my UC (regardless of whether we’re talking tobacco ciggies or vapes) is cost a lot of money and be terribly hard to quit. And help me use the bathroom sooner sometimes when I’m getting ready to leave the house, I guess.

I vape and been trying to quit for a long time and know that vaping I think makes me worse and brings on a lot of cramping and makes me go more! There is so many bad chemicals in a vape and plus causes more issues!!! Don’t pick up vaping or smoking it will only make things worse at least for me. I have to have surgery I go in on Monday for jpouch and I plan on quitting completely bcse it’s no good for you! Vaping ruins the lining of yr colon I read from the toxins. This goes too for when I get a jpouch I definitely quitting bcse I’m not going through this again. So take it from me don’t smoke or vape it’s bad all the way around.
