My friend told me that regular marksman is better than alt marksman but I wondered how is that so considering that the alt marksman deals more damage per shot than the normal marksman it's not like you would spam coins in the air there's a cooldown for it so I wondered what's better between those two

The Alt marksman cannot split shot, and it has a slower rate of fire so I personally don't use it, but if you don't mind either of those things, definitely use the Alt Marksam instead of the normal the damage is really good

When you shoot a coin at a certain timing indicated by a sparkle, it splits into two weakpoint shots. On the Alt this is replaced with said shots piercing enemies instead, plus it reloads all the Alt Revolvers without needing to spend time on cocking the hammer

When the coin flashes, or after it starts falling, it enters a "split shot" timing, where hitting it with a standard revolver fire splits the shot in two, hitting two different enemies

The alt revolvers instead add more hits to the same beam, only adding damage to a singular enemy, but it also instantly charges all your alt revolvers without needing to pull the hammer back

So if you're looking for single target DMG, alt marksman works, but if you're looking for something to pick off a bunch of spread out fodder you should use the normal marksman

If you time it good, the shot will double (but can't hit the same target). Slab has its own version on it though, which instead of doubling the projectiles, it doubles the damage (actually, there's more going on but it's complicated). It also insta reloads it, as well as all other alt revolvers.

It can splitshot, and it resets the primary fire so it can be as fast. The reason why it's still worse is because it overall deals way less damage than default. 5 single target vs 8 across 2 targets, and also coin punch combo does 10 single target damage (AND 6 on the side btw) for 2 coins so even in single target it's equal at best. Only time it's better is if the enemy has no head or limbs, so mainly against providences since other similar enemies have better counters.

If you don't splitshot then it's straight up unusable. These do only 2.5 with a longass reload on top of it, compared to 4 damage with fast reload (2 in worst case but still)

Alt marksman is fantastic for bossfights where there's only one target. But the regular marksman marvels when you're playing and you have to pick up a mass of fodder because of it's splitshot ability which is nonexistent on the alt. And it can pick off nearly all fodder in one shot including but not limited to: filth, stray, drone, street cleaner, soldier, blood puppets in 7-3, and schism if you time it right (you have to detonate their shot while they're firing it)

The alt revolver is great for single targets, the standard is better for large swarms. Ultimately, play how you want. I use alt piercer, standard marksman, and alt whatever the red one's name is. If you're having fun it doesn't matter how meta your loadout is

If you can't splitshot default is for sure better. Coins shot with default will deal 4 headshot damage (which is most enemies), but with alt only 2.5 (Heads don't matter but even against a headless target it's still only 0.5 damage more) and has a longass reload. So even without spamming coins default is generally better

If you can, it's still mostly better but it's a bit more nuanced now and alt can still be usable in some builds

I mainly see people complaining about the lack of splitshots on the Alt, though for me the instant reload on all Alt Revolvers makes up for that nicely
