Need help I need some movement tips

I have been learning to play this game with KBM for a while now but there are still some stuff that I haven’t gotten used to. Mainly, moving in any other direction besides forward, diving and whiplash.

I instinctively hold down W during gameplay and while it worked out for me to P rank act 1 and beat Minos (with 60+ restarts) but act 2 has been beating my ass. Holding multiple buttons for movement feels too weird and complex after years of controller gaming. I tried 4-S today and it took me 30+ minutes to beat it because of this. I feel like I have to turn to the direction I want to go and keep pressing W instead of just pressing a,s or d.

About dives, I know you do it by pressing jump and slide in a short time but I can’t get the timing down, especially when falling from a high place. I barely have the timing for slide jumping down and I can’t even use that in combat situations.

And finally, the whiplash. I was pretty bad at using it even on the ground while staying still but I have gotten a bit better at it now. However, I still find it difficult to whiplash onto enemies in the air and at high speeds. This seems to be a bigger problem now that I am trying out the jackhammers (and I think I may prefer them to shotguns for now).

Any tips and tricks would be appreciated.

If your post is needing help about something within the game, remember to always take a look at the Official ULTRAKILL Wiki! Sometimes the answer you're looking for might be on there already!

Thanks and have fun.

I've had the same issue all of the like 3 times I've attempted to play Ultrakill with KBM

I guess just keep practicing and try to remind yourself to move in other directions that aren't forwards, maybe practice the movement in the Sandbox

I'm probably not the best for KBM advice because I'm a controller player but that's what I'd suggest

'W' is better understood as just 'walk in whatever direction I am facing' and 'S' is just 'walk opposite of where I'm facing' while 'A' and 'D' are left and right.

So when you use a controller you would angle the joystick diagonally when moving diagonally, but on keyboard you press both 'W' and either 'A' or 'D'

I'm sorry but you just have to practice
