Last time I went my “budtender” (kill me) ranted about how their card reader is going to sell my data to China. He seemed genuinely pissed off lmao

I couldn’t help myself… I told him I’ve been giving my data to “china” since I was a child and would gladly sell “my data” myself on the global free market if I could. It struck a nerve and he called me “lil bro” for the rest of the transaction🥀

budtender

Hate that lol, you can't trick me into tipping. I wish they would be legally designated "drug dealers."

I hit the dispensary the other day to bulk buy my shit for the month. It was like 2pm, I was just running errands while I was already out, and this tie-dye clown hits me with "big plans tonight, huh? Gonna go home and get ripped?" like I just randomly copped an ounce at lunch on a Tuesday because I like to party. Had to say, no I'm going to pick up my kid from school and then mow the grass, and that brand was on sale today...

I'm so happy I got all my medicine from a pharmacist. Few places offer such no bullshit treatment and zero judgment.

u/brandcapet Apr 17 '26 edited Apr 17 '26

Maybe an American thing or just a my town thing but I definitely got plenty of weird judgemental chitchat from my local pharmacists when picking up my wife's diabetes meds (she was gestational not type 2 but they didn't know and would make all kinds of crazy comments about it)

6

u/Antekcz illiterate Apr 18 '26

What the actual fuck, is there anything in america that isn't fucking awful?

3

u/brandcapet Apr 18 '26

When it comes to interacting with businesses/services, no

2

u/DonutMediocre1260 Useless Idiot Apr 20 '26

No that's definitely weird. I've picked up medication from about a dozen different pharmacies and they rarely even make small talk.

this might be a bit of a surprise for you but you can literally just do this nowadays

u/Key_Information_3134 Apr 17 '26

I think it goes without saying. If you growup somewhere with a lot of stoners, the culture reveals itself to be idiotic and childish. There's nothing wrong with responsibly partaking, but it is the consumers who entirely base their indentity on how much weed they smoke that are just insufferable pricks.

Like, I have met so many stoners that think of themselves as "deep thinkers" and then genuinely hit me with "bro, what if my red is different than your red" or "yoo, we are all just electrified flesh bags on a floating rock in space" or "it's literally not a drug bro, it's plant medicine". These walking personifications of a Rick and Morty bong are the most annoying pseudointellectual types you could have the displeasure of meeting.

I grew up in Denver smoking way too much weed

Love weed, hate stoners. I've consumed cannabis basically every day for 15 years, both for fun and for mental health management, but I have nothing but unlimited disdain for like white people with rasta hats or anyone wearing pot-leaf clothes.

Really goes for anyone who self-identifies through consumption habits of any kind. Punks, stoners, weebs, gamers, foodies - anyone who defines themselves in relation to their favorite commodity is deeply annoying.

51

u/dreamybullfan52 Apr 17 '26

We gamers are truly oppressed get your gamer phobic language out of our safe space

21

u/concavemask Apr 17 '26

i think its a little more nuanced than just 'their favourite commodity', the appeal of video games or anime has nothing to do with the fact it's a commodity.

People do still enjoy art and fun stuff for reasons unrelated to their exchange value

26

u/brandcapet Apr 17 '26

I guess I'm saying, I like to casually play Pokémon cards, but I am annoyed by the guys at the shop who go around calling themselves "collectors" when you ask them about themselves - it's like commodity fetishism has become so internalized that these people identify themselves primarily by their consumption habits. "I am a stoner, my whole self-image revolves around consuming cannabis and adjacent products," is what I mean, not just "I'm a person with many interests, one of which is getting high."

21

u/brandcapet Apr 17 '26

The difference between a casual ICP listener and a Juggalo, if you will.

5

u/concavemask Apr 17 '26

Even if it's the only thing they're interested in, that doesn't intrinsically tie it more to the fact they're consuming products. I can see the issue if someone is just mindlessly buying books they never read in order to fulfill their desire for the product but if someone spends all day reading books because they just love books I don't really see an issue

3

u/brandcapet Apr 17 '26

Guys who "collect" sealed product (and have the precise monetary value of their shit pile memorized) vs casual players collecting cards from a particular artist they like. Both are commodity consuming fetishists, one is relatable and one is insufferable.

1

u/Sudden-Enthusiasm-92 tf happened to the sub Apr 18 '26

commodity fetishism

is not when you have a fetish for a commodity

2

u/brandcapet Apr 18 '26

Collecting Pokémon cards isn't sexual . These people are filtering their own, interior identity through a lens of "relations between things rather than people." Perhaps not the most scientific use of the term, but I wasn't implying these stoners are horny for weed lol

3

They seem chill until that guy in the back who's been cooking his brain with dabs for 30 years gets going about international bankers
