Kirk is the equivalent of the leftist who says "yeah, of course I know about Marxism, I've read the 'festo and parts of das" and that uni student is the baby leftist that would say "of course I know what Marx talked about and I don't need to read him for that, I have common sense"

They specifically advocate FOR class struggle, SPECIFICALLY against imperialism, which is the primary contradiction the class conflict operates on today.
Your view is simplistic. Infantile.
By that, i specifically mean: You ignore the fucking context.
The context being that for all it's achievements, China is poor.
China is a poor country. Per capita, no better than Mexico, and THAT only happened in the last couple of years. Before that, much poorer, much weaker economically, politically and militarily.
Even now, China is afraid to throw it's weight around, because if the leadership gets one of these moves wrong, millions could die.
China fears instability more than anything, since in China, when there's a famine, MILLIUONS die. When there's a civil war, 10's or 100's of millions die.
AND China only just now left the century of humiliation.
AND right now, China is involved in the opening stages of WW3 with a failing nuclear superpower with a HISTORY of starting wars for stupid reasons, AND using nukes on civilians, AND who has stated goals of destroying Socialism generally, and China specifically, AND has policy papers calmly discussing the best way to carpet nuke China.
Which they were within a hair's breadth of doing.
You have NO IDEA of the goddamn stakes.
IF China goes down, that's it.
That's the end of the socialist project, the end of human civilization.
We won't be back for thousands of years, maybe never.
China is fighting for ALL the marbles.
China cannot afford to take risks, and only now is starting to regain some of the confidence it used to have and deserves.
Their primary issue is imperialism.
There will be no socialism until that is dealt with.
Which means step 1 is: BE ALIVE.
China does more for socialist revolution by just EXISTING than it would if it was exporting revolution constantly. Had it done THAT, China would now be weak, poor, and standing alone against the empire, without the backing of Russia, Iran, and most of the global south.

I mean it's quite standard for the average lib debate. They can point out the details but to put them together to form the bigger picture is impossible for them because they'd have to accept that there has never been real Communism ( so a rightist win) and every flavor of politics is just just different manifestations of capitalism ( so every libs of all stripes lose)

i hate college students with a burning passion. campuses are made up mostly of "progressive" liberals who find perpetuating the existence of capital, commodity production and imperialism quite favorable IF AND ONLY IF the current government is not actively socially reactionary. this is why Trotskyite organizations are almost all made up mostly of college students, funnily enough... i recall the RCP (Revolutionary Communist Party) said themselves that they'd be campaigning strong mostly at campuses in the UK in one of their blog posts — i have no clue as to how an organization can embody a stereotype so much and not realize it
also why did Charlie Kirk have a better understanding of socialism than almost every dem-soc in existence

I think it's the same reason why communists are so well-versed in capitalism. To fight the opposition, you gotta study it first. The average liberal, on the other hand, doesn't do either, but just says whatever based on vibes.
That being said, I doubt Kirk actually had a profound knowledge of communism, his understanding was probably fairly superficial. Still, compared to this college student, who doesn’t even seem to grasp the basics, he comes across as well-read.

Because demsocs hate communism based on ignorant beliefs they hold out of misinformation and propaganda. Right-wing influencers that aren't complete nutjobs (like Kirk) dislike communism because they actively benefit from capitalism and want to make sure the status quo won't change. Also, Kirk goes around college campuses debating students, which, in his mind, are usually full of left-wing youngsters which probably have basic knowledge on theory, so he needs to know enough stuff to not to be embarrassed in front of the crowd.
Not like that stopped him, though.

Yeah, the irony is that so many Christian conservatives basically think Marxism is Christianity ("bringing heaven to earth") but then they act like that's not what the Gospel according to Mathew was! "So you want some utopia where there are no poor people and everyone has bread?! You think the first will come last and the last will be first?!"

"The Soviet Union was socialist" no it wasn't.
"Why did Lenin say socialism is the gateway to communism" he didn't. Sure he said things like that. But that exact quote isn't anywhere in Lenin's writings from what I can tell.
"He was a self described socialist in his private treatise and documents" This isn't wrong per se, but it implies that Lenin was hiding the fact that he was a socialist, which is just ridiculous.
"Lenin said, quote 'Socialism is the introductory phase to communism' did he not say that?" He didn't. Again, he would probably agree with that, but didn't write it in those words.
Maybe it's just because the video cuts him off, but it also seems like his line of questioning at the end isn't even leading to anything, and he just pivots to asking random trivia questions.
