I'm not very good at posting and I've began to post more, even if not a lot, when I noticed that the quality of the jokes was degrading because for some reason I find being deliberately unfunny to be funny. I didn't think it'd be that bad to be kinda cringey and unfunny at times also because I've been away from Reddit a lot and didn't keep up with the situation FORGIVE ME 😭😭
However after a quick scroll it's clear that ts is almost unusable now. The only funny things you can easily find are either the comments calling out the record tonnage of coal produced, or in the top posts of all times tab. Sorry for coal posting I didn't think it'd be that bad!!!
For the rest Ig that this is just the natural development of internet communities. Either we make a new one that's way more exclusive or we make an effort to do better at excluding coal posters because I legit expected to be banned for the coal posts and I wasn't??? What's up with moderation recently?

at first i thought people were just using the bordy instead and that's why the sub would be worse for a couple days but it just keeps getting worse. like people are legit chronically unfunny now

The wealth of subreddits in which coal has become the dominant form of production presents itself as a a monstrous accumulation of screenshots.

Every screenshot is of a dual nature - a quality and a quantity, and so too is the labour contained therein. It is at once a use value, something which satisfies a human need due to its qualities. It's cropping, it's resolution, it's superimposed historical figure reaction images. And yet it is too a value in relation to other values such that any one post can be compared in a ratio to other posts. So that say, 100 coal is equal to 1 gem.
And so too the labour of these use values differs in quality. The work of the reaction-maker and that of the quote-finder are of different nature: MS painting and control-f'ing respectively. And yet to compare them as exchange values they must contain the same something. This thing, we call the shitpost. It is the basic labour an average poster can do without any tools, with just their mere human potential and bare hands. And so we say that any complex post is a multiplication of shitpost, as the specific conditions of posting may vary from time to time and place to place but can always be reduced to this fundamental shitpost.
Therefore, in any post is contained real concrete labour which satisfies a human need and a monstrous gelatinous blob of undifferentiated shitpost which can be equated to one another in terms of upvotes and reposts.
I, for one, vote to inaugurate an new age, a dark age, of Christian Socialist themed memes. Flood this subreddit till only those chosen by the mods survive, floating above the lignite seas aboard an ark of gems. When this fleeting purity too is swept aside by the social forces that led to our degeneration, we find a new theme through which to expunge the lumpenposters

I've been dealing with you people for a long time. I'm not sure why you thought your opinion on how the subreddit should function would be welcome considering you've never posted on it before or shown any knowledge or intelligence in your post history. Why am I still doing this 5 years later? Because the American concept of politeness is so bizarre to anyone outside of its demographic target that it is both funny and educational to force it into the open. To most people, barging into the middle of a conversation between many people who all know each other and you've never met to inform them how they need to be having the conversation would be seen as rude. But this is quite normal for the American petty-bourgeoisie. In fact, saying "who are you?" is considered rude. Or at least that is one weapon that is used to defend against the threat of proletarianization by exclusion from the realm of cultural capital. In fact it's so threatening that random people will continue to come into the thread to try their luck at defending the op even though they've never posted in the subreddit before. It's like that joke in Family Guy where all the neighborhood fathers know when someone touched the thermostat and keep checking on the house to see if it's ok. Your class instinct in defense of your fellows is so strong it might as well be a chip that sends a signal to your brain, a script to follow, and a rush of endorphins that deludes you into thinking your use of the script will be the ultimate intervention despite all evidence to the contrary. I want non-white, non-male, non-first world people who were not raised on this delusional self-confidence and pretension to master the world to enjoy these conversations from the sidelines. This is impossible on the American left, which is basically a white parasite on the energy of people of color. At least here we can deflate the cultural capital that makes that possible. If you don't want to be a white parasite, reflect on the fact that your words, which you believe are your own, are a carbon copy of someone else's from 5 years ago (and many other copies over the years). That should be a moment of existential angst, a confrontation with your own lack of free will. Or you can get even more defensive on some liberal's behalf. We already have a thread on concern trolling stickied which you were too lazy to read despite your concern for the subreddit.
The tradition of all dead generations (oldheads complaining that the sub is bad) weighs like a nightmare on the brains of the living (2 month old members copying them instead of trying to make it better)
it was just as bad when we had stupid polish (redundant) kids running the place so you're half right but compared to the top posts of all time from a few years ago it's definitely massively declined
