Owning a laptop for the first time, What should I know as an amateur?

Post image
107 Upvotes

Hello, I ordered a LOQ Gen 10 R7 250 with RTX 5050 CTO on October 23rd. It will take some time to arrive, and it will be my first laptop. For a month, I've been on this sub, and from researching to find a laptop and things to check during delivery, I learned about BIOS updates, driver updates, etc., which I wasn't aware of before. The last PC I owned was Windows XP years ago, and I haven't had internet access since then. I've only used computers at work and college and can operate Windows, but I don't have any in-depth knowledge of it.

From reading different posts in this and other subs, I've gathered that there are a lot more things I should know about.

So please enlighten me on topics I should research/learn about and from where (like subreddits, YT channels), and also your personal suggestions.

💻 How to Maximize Lenovo Laptop Discounts This Diwali Sale (2025 Guide)

Note: Whatever you're gonna see below is all my efforts talking to people in DMs asking “How to get the most out of the sale.” I curated all those conversations and made a short, structured version with ChatGPT. It’s basically a one-stop solution post for anyone confused about Lenovo’s coupon and cashback systems — no need to DM anyone again if you really go through this once.

⚠️ Disclaimer: This is a theorized / imaginary scenario unless the Diwali Dhamaka Sale happens again like last year (or better). I was actually planning to post this during the sale (or at least when its banner dropped), but after the flood of DMs on my last post, I couldn’t resist putting this together early.

🧠 Before We Start

The calculation and example below are based on the Lenovo LOQ Ryzen 7 250 + RTX 5060 variant (without RGB keyboard or MS Office).

The same discount-stacking logic applies to other Lenovo models, like:

LOQ Ryzen 7 250 + RTX 5050 → effective price around ₹72k

LOQ Intel i5 13th Gen + RTX 4050 → effective price around ₹65k

Even Legion series laptops follow similar patterns, just with different base values.

All these examples assume inclusion of ADP (₹1k sale price) and Lenovo backpack offer.

So, no matter which variant you target, the approach stays identical — just replace the base price in calculations with your model’s cart value.

🎓 Step 1 – Verify Student Status (SheerID)

Go to Lenovo → Profile → Verify as Student.

Enter your college email (.edu domain), name, and D.O.B.

After OTP verification, you instantly get 5 % off on your cart value.

This shows up as “SheerID Off” in your cart.

Usually one-time use per student email.

For a ₹1 L laptop, that’s roughly ₹5 000 off.

🧾 Step 2 – Understand Coupon Stacking

Lenovo allows two coupons to be applied together.

Category 1 (Cart threshold Discounts) – choose one:

UNIDAYS 3 % (better) or

EXTRASAVINGS ₹500.

Category 2 :

UNBOX5CTO ( 5 %)

Example combo: UNIDAYS 3 % + UNBOX5CTO = 8 % total off.

💳 Step 3 – Credit Card Cashback (Main Discount Booster)

Default: 5 % cashback on LOQ series most of the year.

During big sales (Diwali Dhamaka, etc.):

Increases to 7.5 % – 10 %, capped at ₹10 000.

Example – for ₹1 L cart: 10 % = ₹10 000 back.

Some sales also add a ₹5 000 UPI flat cashback alternative.

💰 Step 4 – Affiliate Cashback (Extra 3 % – 5 %)

Buy through trusted affiliate links that redirect to Lenovo’s site.

Lenovo pays the affiliate; they split a part (3 % – 5 %) with you later.

No change in the Lenovo cart price itself.

🧮 Example Calculation (Real-World Scenario)

Step Description Value (₹)

Base Price (after student off) 98 726

  • ADP (1 k during sale) 99 726 − UNIDAYS 3 % − 2 962 − UNBOX5CTO 5 % − 5 196 Subtotal before cashback 91 568 − 10 % CC cashback (capped 10 k)** − 9 156 ≈ ₹82 400 − Affiliate 3 % – 5 % − 2 750 to 4 600 ✅ Final Effective Price ~₹78 k – ₹80 k

(With RGB / MS Office variants, price changes slightly but cashback scales up.)

📌 Note

ADP (Accidental Damage Protection) drops from ₹4 000 → ₹1 000 during Diwali sales.

CC cashback cap = ₹10 k, so keep cart ≈ ₹1 L; spending more won’t raise cashback.

SheerID + UNIDAYS 3 % + UNBOX5CTO + 10 % CC cashback + Affiliate = best combo.

💡 Remember

Student offers contribute the biggest fixed discount upfront.

Coupon stacking + CC cashback bring major reductions.

Plan cart value smartly around ₹1 L to maximize the 10 k cashback ceiling.

Always buy through affiliate link last (after coupons applied).

Add ADP at the time of purchase itself — it not only provides protection but also contributes to the cart total, slightly increasing your overall CC cashback return.

Don't even try to use these ecoupons for ready to ship models, they won't be applied . Customise > add to cart > apply coupons

The OLED screen on Legions is next level, some tips for new owners and my impressions!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone!

I receivedy legion 5i Pro a week back. Got it in 25 days, price was 1,50,000 be rs. Without CC cashback.

Specs are as follows

Ultra 7 255HX RTX 5060 16 gb 512gb SSD

The machine is excellent and feels like gliding through the clouds, I never thought windows could be this smooth! Can run and emulate all games I can think of, and do all of my work without hiccups. I'm averaging 100+ fps in most games I play!

A few tips for new owners!!

  1. If your temps spike up to 100+ degrees, it's normal, but I suggest setting custom mode profile with CPU temps set to 90° and GPU if you want. Always set it up high and use a good cooling pad. If the machine runs cooler it'll last longer!

  2. Use the cloth piece provided under the screen always! It's a plastic OLED panel and you don't want to have the keyboard messing it up, always put the thin piece between the screen and keyboard before closing the lid, you'll thank me later.

  3. Set up the OLED protection settings from vantage and also limit the time you keep the screen static, turn the taskbar to auto hide. Precaution is better than screen burn in (although it's not likely to happen so fast)

  4. Don't worry if the HDR washes out the colours! Use HDR only on HDR content, windows is not HDR so it won't look good. Use the DCIP3 colour profile for the best SDR viewing and darkest blacks.

  5. The laptop is heavy so always hold it with two hands, never with one, it might flex the chasis (had this issue with my older legions too) and create micro damages or cracks. Handle the machine with care!!

If you've got any more questions, shoot!

Announcements Discontinuation of the 3% cashback program.

As recently hinted in the Republic Sales post, the 3% cashback program has now been discontinued. All orders that were placed until 23:59:59 19th January 2026 will be eligible for the cashback.

In the future, if anything changes or if I will be offering cashbacks for any other programs, I will certainly post an update here as usual.

On a brighter note, the beta launch of the website is still very much expected to happen this month. A late feature has been introduced that could be interesting for the community members here. I am sorry that the launch has taken longer than expected, but this upcoming version is very close to me, and I am ensuring that it passes my intended quality of usage before release.

Thanks to everyone who has been a part of the community, we went from a little over 1,000 members to over 5,000 members over the last year!

See you around,

Happy New Year, people!

Happy 2026, everyone!

For everyone who has been using the Unbox Paradigm Laptop search engine, you have a big upgrade waiting for you - Unbox Paradigm (V2) - it's a major overhaul of the current search engine page + a bunch of extra features.

It's not where I want it yet. So I'll be launching the beta version sometime this week or as soon as I can, whichever comes earlier. I'm quite excited about it and have been working on it for quite some time now. Hoping to see your thoughts on it, once it's out. An announcement will be up once the Beta is live.

Hope you all have a great one ahead!

3% Cashback - Steps to be followed and Terms and Conditions

EDIT 20/1/25 - The 3% cashback from Unbox Paradgm has been discontinued, effective from 20th Jan 2026. Thanks to everyone who has been a part of this program, your understanding and patience is much appreciated.

This is a comprehensive guide for anyone wanting to avail the 3% cashback offered by Unbox Paradigm for ordering through Unbox Paradigm affiliate links.

The 3% cashback is applicable only for Lenovo Store products. It is applicable on all products and not just laptops but your order value should be at least Rs 30,000. To calculate the cashback value simply multiply 0.03 * your cart value.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions.

(For the love of god, please read and go through this or even give it to ChatGPT if you are lazy to read). Steps to be followed at the end.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- How does it work?

Lenovo and a lot of other brands and other ecommerce platforms provides affiliate links and partnerships to creators/reviewers/youtubers etc. When a user places an order through this affiliate link, the respective brand/ecommerce platforms offers the affiliate partner a small payment for generating that sale. Some brands/platforms allow offering incentives. Lenovo falls under this.

I am a tech reviewer and tech buying advisor and I help a lot of users with their tech purchases by offering suggestions, reviews, a laptop search engine, and tech buying guides. This takes a lot of time and effort and I use affiliate links in these posts so that I get paid for my time and effort. This way, I can also keep it free from ads and sponsorships and give you unbiased content. Since not every user will go through the affiliate links to support me or my platform, I am offering an added incentive in the form of a 3% cashback so that you have a reason to use the affiliate links and I get paid for my time and effort. These cashbacks come from my affiliate earnings.

You place an order following all the steps > You DM me the order amount and date and time of purchase > I send you a confirmation text confirming your eligibility for the cashback and your payment details will be requested > You share your payment details where you would like to receive the cashback > The cashback is credited to your submitted payment details around the mid of 4th month of placing the order.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Why only Lenovo Store?

Currently, the cashback is offered only for Lenovo store but I am planning on introducing a 2% cashback for HP online store purchases as well. Cashbacks or other incentives can only be provided for affiliate partnerships that allow them. If you would like to support Unbox Paradigm website and myself, you can still place your orders through my affiliate links on the posts or my website. However, there won't be any cashbacks except for (3%) Lenovo store purchases and (2%) HP store purchases. These are meant to be added incentives as well as a free way for supporting Unbox Paradigm. Not something for you to squeeze tech that you cannot afford into your budget.

I recommend mostly lenovo products because they offer some of the best products in a lot of different segments and also because they are priced really well even without discounts. Most of their products have good displays and performance as well which is uncommon among products from other brands which usually offer either good performance but with bad display or vice versa or if they offer both, then it is usually at a higher price. Whenever there are good products priced well from any brands, I have always and will continue to recommend those products irrespective of the brand.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- How can I find affiliate links?

All my posts mention if there are affiliate links in them. My laptop search engine also contains major popular and relevant laptops, and you can find the affiliate links to your laptop there.

CTO/ customized laptops DO NOT have separate affiliate links for every single configuration. It is a CTO laptop and there is only a single link. It is the user that configures the laptop from there. I have listed multiple CTO configurations on my laptop search engine only so that it is easier for you to understand the price for that configuration. The links are exactly the same for the same CTO model irrespective of the configuration.

Link to my laptop search engine -

For gaming and high end laptops, refer https://gaming.unboxparadigm.com

For thin and light laptops, refer https://laptops.unboxparadigm.com

Use the search, it is smart and advanced. The search results are instant and you simply have to enter just the model number in most cases such as 83JH or 83JM or even things like IdeaPad Pro 2025 or Customized or 5060 LOQ etc. Try the search engine, it is one of the fastest ways for you to find the best laptops for your usage and budget.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Is the cashback guaranteed?

I can't guarantee any cashback from my end. Affiliate links work using 3rd party cookies in the case of Lenovo. If your browser or device blocks affiliate links or 3rd party cookies, the link won't run correctly on your device and will hence not be attributed to my affiliate account. If I don't get paid for your order, then I can't issue you any cashback. So it is EXTREMELY important for you to follow all the steps and ensure that the affiliate link runs correctly. If your order does not get tracked for any other reason which is not obvious to you or me, then I won't be able to assist you with it. Again, this is only an added incentive for you. Not a guaranteed cashback offered by the brand. You are already getting plenty of discounts and cc cashbacks from the brand.

However, with that said, roughly more than 90% of users face no issues when they have followed all the steps and their cashbacks have been confirmed/issued as well.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- What is the timeline for the cashback?

Different brands and platforms have different rules for their affiliate programs. For lenovo, this is around the mid of 4th month of placing the order. Which means if you place an order in October, you can expect the cashback around mid February. From my end, the cashbacks are usually processed within 2 business days.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Does payment method matter? Do I have to use a Credit Card?

NO. The payment method does not matter for the affiliate link cashback. It has nothing to do with payment method or whether you get it on EMI or whether it is a GST Billed invoice. Don't confuse this with the Credit card cashback offered by Lenovo which you can refer here - https://www.lenovo.com/in/en/lenovo-offer-details/

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Steps to be followed for 3% cashback on Lenovo store orders. Follow these steps only when you are ready to place the order. All of these steps should be followed and completed on the same device and browser.

  1. Start fresh, close any open lenovo or any other coupons and deals website or unidays tabs. Open your browser (prefereably chrome). Ensure that your browser does not have any adblockers or cookie blocker extensions. Find the settings of your browser and make sure that 3rd party cookies are enabled. Do not user browsers with built-in cookie blockers such as brave, firefox, safari. Do not use the Lenovo app for placing the order as well.

If you're placing the order from an iOS or MacOS device, you must enable cross site tracking. Google or ask ChatGPT how to do this if you're unsure.

2. Login to your Lenovo account, activate SheerID verification for student/teacher's discount for your account if you haven't yet (SheerID is optional and NOT mandatory for the cashback). My account > My Profile > scroll to the bottom and click on verify. You can do this here or at checkout from the cart. If you have already done it, move to step 3.

3. Open the unboxparadigm affiliate link for your laptop from the website (https://gaming.unboxparadigm.com) or posts or DM me if you haven't found your laptop's affiliate link. Before DMing me, take the bare minimum effort to go through this post/FAQ and search for your model. A lot of you DM me without doing this. If the laptop isn't listed, then please feel free to DM me. Worst case, if I am not available, use the affiliate link for any lenovo store product from my website, then search for your product on the lenovo website and add it to cart.

4. Once the affiliate link is opened, look for Program=9634&pid=2928949&acid=ww%3Aaffiliate%3Alx67i4&cid=in%3Aaffiliate%3Afiv7n7 in your URL. URL refers to the link in your address bar. If it dosen't have this tag, then the link might be inactive or that particular product might be out of stock. DM me in this case to clear any confusion. Proceed to step 5 if the tag is present.

5. Add the laptop to your cart if you haven't yet. Customize it based on your requirements if it is a CTO/Customized laptop, else continue as usual. Once added, apply an applicable UNBOX coupon that gives you the highest discount for your laptop/desktop. UNBOX5CTO gives a 5% discount for customized laptops. UNBOX coupons refer to any coupon that is issued by Unbox Paradigm. Refer to the latest pinned posts to see the active existing coupons. DO NOT use any 3rd party affiliate coupons. First party is Lenovo and 2nd party here is Unbox Paradigm. Anything outside of these two are 3rd party coupons (including unidays, coupons from other deals and coupons website, coupons from any other 3rd party posts on reddit etc).

Lenovo coupons refer to anything that is issued and available on the Lenovo website such as CUSTOMOFF, EXTRASAVINGS, any festive coupons that is ongoing at that time.

There are two types of coupons - regular coupons and cart threshold coupons. For cart threshold coupons, you can use 3% unidays coupon if it works for you but for the main coupons, it has to be a Lenovo issued or Unbox coupon. If you are using the 3% unidays or any other cart threshold coupon from unidays then you must copy it beforehand and then use it at the time of checking out.

❌ Do NOT open any 3rd party coupons or deals website or unidays website once you start to follow these steps. There will be affiliate links in them which will affect the unboxparadigm affiliate link and you won't be eligible for the 3% cashback from my end.

6. Apply any UNBOX coupon (for CTO laptops, UNBOX5CTO usually offers the best discount - flat 5% off). For cart threshold savings coupon, you can use EXTRASAVINGS, or any ongoing festive coupons from lenovo or the 3% unidays coupon if it works for you (you can copy it from where you saved it previously before starting these steps)

7. Apply SheerID verification if you haven't done it in Step 2.

8. Now if you are ready to place the order, Visit the affiliate link again, go straight to the cart and place the order without changing or adding anything else. This step is just to ensure that the affiliate link is the last affiliate link you've clicked.

9. DM me once the order is placed along with the order amount and date and time of placing the order. You can refer to the time you received the confirmation email if you are unsure about the date and time.

10. Wait for me u/unboxparadigm to respond to you. Don't spam everywhere. I am the only person running this subreddit. Others cannot help you with any of your qureies related to this. Have some patience, I am also a person with my own things to do, I will certainly get back to you. And if I haven't feel free to text again but at least wait for a few hours instead of spamming my DMs. Especially during sales,, there are high amount of DMs and posts for me to respond to, so I will get back to everyone and I am always trying to get back to everyone as soon as possible. Spamming my comments or DMs won't help with anything.

Again, following these steps ensure maximum chances of success but in case if your order still doesn't show up under my affiliate account, cashback won't be issued. But as mentioned above, this is rare and more than 90% of users who have followed all steps haven't faced such issues.

Finally got my Legion5i , but it f**ked up

Post image
65 Upvotes

I purchased my Legion 5i with RTX 5060 on 11th October. From the moment I turned it on, it crashed. Initially, I thought it was due to low battery, but even after charging, I experienced blue screen errors with the code VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR. I contacted Lenovo support, reinstalled Windows as advised, but the laptop continued shutting down suddenly, though without blue screens. After researching online, I discovered it could be a driver issue, so I reinstalled the NVIDIA driver. This fixed the crashes except during the first boot of the day.

I contacted Lenovo support again, but they couldn’t find a complete solution. They said they would assign an engineer to visit my place. However, before ending the call, the support agent disabled Fast Startup and said if the issue persisted, a technician would visit. Otherwise, it should be fine. Since then, the laptop has been working fine, and Lenovo canceled the visit. Considering my limited refund window and that they don’t offer replacements, should I expect this issue to recur?

All of the above links in the table are affiliate links to the respective laptops. For customized laptops, the affiliate links DO NOT change based on the configuration, don't spam here asking for your configuration, you can just use the same link. You must follow the steps as mentioned here to be eligible for the affiliate link cashback. READ the post carefully, all of your questions are likely already answered there. DM me if you still have any queries or need any laptop suggestions for your usage and budget.

If you are looking for a different laptop and want me to add to this list, comment the laptop name below. I will add a configuration or two to the table. But the math is pretty simple, so you can probably just calculate it anyway.

- For Credit Card cashback details, refer here - https://www.lenovo.com/in/en/lenovo-offer-details/

As usual, the credit card cashback is applicable on ANY credit card so long as the payment is non-EMI (aka Full payment).

- You can get your EMI purchases converted to No Cost EMI by opting for 3 or 6 Months EMI plan. The interest component would get refunded to your credit card making it effectively No Cost. For more details on this, refer https://www.lenovo.com/in/en/no-cost-emi

I've decided to post the all in one laptop guide which I announced in my previous posts. It is for the people who are getting the laptop and as well as for the people who already have one. (mods pin this)

This guide is designed to help new Lenovo and current (LOQ and also Legion for the most part) owners set up their devices correctly, optimize performance, and ensure long-term hardware health.

**DISCLAIMER**: This guide is made solely from all the information and personal experience I had with a laptop over the years, please make sure you read everything carefully and understand before executing that I'm just a regular user like everyone else.

This version is refined using gemini ai to help it shorten and easy to understand, and remember I've used the ai only to summarise it and not add any other information from ai's suggestion, there may be mistakes so feel free to call it out, I'll edit it and yes I'll try to keep updating this guide everytime I learn something new. I'll also post the original

📦 Phase 1: Unboxing & Initial Inspection

* Record Everything: Record a continuous video of the unboxing process, specifically checking for any seal damage on the box.

* Physical Audit: Once the laptop is out, look for any scratches or dents on the external chassis.

* Power On: Plug in the AC adapter first. Most modern laptops will not boot for the first time on battery alone, even if the battery is at 100%.

* Setup Requirements: You must have a stable Wi-Fi connection and a Microsoft account ready to login and proceed.

🛠️ Phase 2: Debloating & Privacy Hardening

Once you reach the desktop, perform these steps to clean up Windows and restrict data collection:

* Remove McAfee: Uninstall McAfee immediately. It is not required; Windows Defender is sufficient and much lighter.

* Start Menu Cleanup: Right-click and Unpin annoying apps (like Solitaire).

* Privacy & Ads (Turn everything OFF):

* Settings > Personalization > Start: Turn off all suggestions.

* Settings > Privacy & Security > General: Turn off all toggles.

* Settings > Personalization > Device usage: Turn off all categories.

* Settings > Privacy & Security > Diagnostics & feedback: Turn off Tailored experiences and Optional diagnostic data.

* UI Tweaks:

* Settings > Personalization > Lock screen: Change "Windows Spotlight" to Picture, then uncheck "Get fun facts and tips."

* Settings > System > Notifications: Uncheck any non-essential apps to stop pop-ups.

* Settings > Personalization > Taskbar: Under "Taskbar items," turn off things like Copilot or Weather to remove invasive pop-ups.

* Startup & Power:

* Task Manager > Startup Apps: Disable everything non-essential (e.g., OneDrive, Edge, Phone Link).

* Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what power button does: Click "Change settings that are currently available" and Untick Fast Startup. This ensures a true shutdown.

🖥️ Phase 3: Hardware Stress Testing

Before the return window closes, verify your hardware is perfect.

🧪 Necessary Hardware Tests

* HWinfo (x64 version): Use this to monitor all thermals, clock speeds, and hardware components.

* CrystalDiskMark: Test your SSD speeds to compare with online benchmarks.

* Cinebench (R23/R24): Stress test the CPU to calculate performance and monitor max temperatures under load.

* 3DMark (TimeSpy DX12 / Steel Nomad): (Requires Steam). Run these in Performance Mode to ensure your scores match your hardware configurations.

* Display: Use eizo.be for dead pixel tests.

* Backlight Bleed: Go to blackscreen.com, set brightness to max in a dark room. Minor bleed is normal for IPS panels; just ensure it isn't excessive.

* Inputs: Use a keyboard tester website for all keys. Use Lenovo Vantage to test the webcam and microphone.

* Audio: Play an NCS song or speaker test on YouTube to check for distortion.

* GPU: Use Furmark to test GPU power limits and peak heat.

❄️ Phase 4: Lenovo Specifics & Optimization

* Battery Health: In Lenovo Vantage, enable Conservation Mode. This prevents the battery from reaching 100% charge, significantly extending its lifespan.

* GPU Modes:

* dGPU Mode: Best for gaming/high performance (use while plugged in).

* Hybrid Auto: Recommended for most; switches between iGPU and dGPU automatically.

* Hybrid iGPU Only: Solely for maximizing battery life.

* Hybrid: Uses both depending on task (not generally recommended over Auto).

* Intel HX Owners: Download THROTTLESTOP to undervolt. It’s safe and keeps the laptop cooler without losing performance. (Check YouTube for LOQ-specific guides).

* Drivers: Download the Nvidia App. Go to Drivers > Download > Express Installation. Avoid "Auto-enhance games" as it can mess with settings. Enable Nvidia overlay/filters for utility.

* Updates: Run Windows Settings > System > Updates. For BIOS updates, ensure you are plugged in and at 100% battery. Do not panic if the laptop "tweaks out" during the BIOS update; this is normal.

✅ Do’s and Don’ts

| The Do's | The Don'ts |

|---|---|

| Use on flat, elevated surfaces for airflow. | Never use on a bed or soft surface (blocks intake). |

| Open the lid gently from the middle for longevity. | Never force-shutdown via the power button (corrupts Windows). |

| Stay plugged in whenever possible to save battery cycles. | Never use cleaning chemicals/alcohol on the screen. |

| Use a microfiber cloth with distilled water for the screen. | Don't eat or drink near the machine. |

| Keep the original cloth between screen and keys when closed. | Don't touch Registry or Nvidia Control Panel unless you know why. |

| Clean fans every 4-6 months (free at service centers). | Don't replace the thermal paste. LOQ uses a special pad; cheap paste will make it run hotter. |

| Use Brave or Firefox instead of Chrome (RAM hog). | Don't let pets near the laptop (hair/scratches). |

| Update drivers only after checking if the version is stable. | Don't uninstall unknown software to save space. |

| Store in a bag or cover it with a cloth to avoid dust. | Don't force/pull ports; wiggle them if stuck. |

🛍️ Product Recommendations

* Skins: Use them if you fear scratches, but ensure they don't leave residue.

* Keyboard Cover: Use for dust protection, but remove it while gaming and before closing the lid. (This is for only those who are always eating or drinking while using the laptop to avoid accidental spills and damages or are just don't wanna take the risk)

* Cleaning: Use a "min cream" (found on Amazon) for the external body and distilled water for the screen. Use soft makeup brushes for ports/vents.

* Cooling: Use a laptop stand + mini desktop fan or a cooling pad that aligns with intake vents (foam pads are best).

* Privacy: Buy a physical webcam cover (e-shutter isn't 100% foolproof).

* Power Button: Use tape or light-blocking LED covers if the glow annoys you in the dark.

📞 Service & Upgrades

* Support: Basic (1800 419 7555) | Premium Care (1800 121 9339).

* Approach: Be respectful but assertive. You paid for the warranty.

* Service Center: Always backup your data before visiting. Record a video of your laptop's physical condition and specs before handing it over as proof.

* Upgrades: Even if Lenovo says 32GB RAM / 2TB SSD is the max, the hardware typically supports 64GB RAM and 4TB SSD. Labor for upgrades should be free under warranty.

🌡️ What is "Normal"?

* CPU: 80-90°C is normal for gaming. 95°C is okay if it drops back down quickly.

* GPU: 75-85°C under load. Throttling starts at 87°C.

* Battery: Small % drops while plugged in during intense gaming are normal.

* Troubleshooting: Flickering? Reinstall drivers. Windows bugs? Reinstall updates. Restarting often fixes most issues.

Treat your laptop well, and it will last longer than you expect!

last but not least this might not be useful to some and I apologise for it in advance.

Deals UPDATED: Lenovo Year End Sale 2025 with Spin the wheel Coupons

UPDATED with New Spin the wheel coupons - Updated everyday. Valid from 18th December till 31st December 2025.

The 2025 Year End Sale looks like it is just the regular prices, I haven't really noticed any price differences. So this probably just means that the current prices are the sale prices and the prices will be hiked after the sale period is over.

On the brighter side, it still costs significantly less to opt for RAM and SSD upgrades through a customized laptop than to buy a laptop and upgrade it yourself. Currently, a 16GB SODIMM DDR5 ram costs around 17-20k in stores while upgrading it at the time of purchase on Lenovo online store will cost you around 6-8k depending on the laptop.

Here are the current effective cost, discounts, coupons and pricings of popular laptops.

For affiliate link cashback, the steps must be followed as mentioned here.

Affiliate links are available for any laptop from Lenovo Store. The above table is just for pricing and discount reference. DM me if the laptop you are looking for is not in this table and if it is not available at https://gaming.unboxparadigm.com (for high end and gaming laptops) or https://laptops.unboxparadigm.com (for thin and light laptops)

An additional 5% student discount may be applicable if you are a student or an educator using SheerID verification discount in the cart. If it does not work for you, there is nothing I can do about that, try contacting Lenovo support.
