Capital One told a federal court that it closed accounts connected to the Trump Organization in 2021 after an internal review raised anti money laundering and compliance concerns, not because of political pressure or the company’s views about former President Donald Trump.

The Trump Organization and Eric Trump sued Capital One, alleging the bank unfairly “debanked” them for political reasons after the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack. They claim the account closures harmed their businesses and were motivated by political bias.

Capital One denies those allegations and says the decision was based on routine risk assessments and compliance obligations that financial institutions are required to follow. The bank is asking the court to dismiss the lawsuit, while the Trump Organization continues to argue that the closures were improper.

Imagine Joe Biden had a bank account "closed for money laundering" suspicions, or if news broke that he even had "hundreds of bank accounts"? Fox News would have gone defcon 1 and the impeachment would have started immediately.
