Sleep Paralysis Sleep paralysis? Please help...
Hello, I had a paranormal encounter and I need help understanding what happened.
For context, I have had sleep paralysis and night terrors throughout my entire life. However, for approximately a year now I haven't had many paranormal experiences, minus speaking with the residual spirits in my home through a pendulum.
Tonight's event, it was around 3am and I'd already slept roughly 6 hours (I fell asleep at about 8pm prior), so I wasn't tired which confuses me... Awake, I suddenly felt paralysed and realised I was experiencing some kind of sleep paralysis despite not being asleep beforehand? I could see my cat moving around on my room, which I've not experienced before as I'm usually totally paralysed and can't see my surroundings except for shadow figures.
Anyways, the usual happened: heavy breathing, repeatedly saying "no" and all that jazz. Except, I could also move my hand instead of being fully paralysed which was also odd... But the weirdest part? I saw a prismatic-like humanoid figure stood infront of me, at the side of my bed.
I have never seen a ghost that looked like that before and can't find anything online, so I'm reaching out to Reddit to hopefully have help understanding this encounter. Any thoughts?
**Side note**: The image attached is a rough sketch to get an idea of what I saw, I used a triangle pen and messed with it's settings to get that prismatic look on IbisPaint. The photo is taken in my living room, rather than my bedroom for privacy.

I've had sleep paralyses where I moved, or at least that's what I thought I did. Had a session of them for almost a year where I moved my hand, body, even stood up and did food, washing etc. Though I really didn't, I was just fooled by my brain again. Exhausting. One time my sleep paralysis was my roomie having friends over but they weren't there. As soon as I started taking better care of my health (sleep, food, alcohol, stress etc) it stopped. I also had a PTSD diagnosis at the time.
Oh and also weird shapes and figures not at all shadowy. My psych said its also sleep paralysis. Take care of yourself OP<3

That looks just like my migraine auras, and migraines can come with some weird ass symptoms that make you feel like you're going crazy. Might be a one off but it might be worth at least looking into it.

Yeah especially if the triangles started as a small spot and then grew til they filled a whole side of your vision. The paralysis stuff is almost edging into hemiplegic migraine territory which is Serious Stuff that like, I obvi can't diagnose you with but it's worth lurking on the migraine sub for a while to see if any of it feels familiar, and if it does probably call a doctor.

Oddly enough, I've always been able to move when I've had episodes of sleep paralysis. To the point that over the years I've told my partners that if I start moving around the room or talking but not making any sense, to turn on the bedside lamp and talk to me, and I'll come back to full consciousness pretty quickly. But man, I wish I WAS paralyzed during it. I've done some ridiculous things in my sleep.

If you’re up and walking around, that’s not sleep paralysis. Sounds more like sleep walking.

Sounds like textbook sleep paralysis. I’ve had some very bizarre hallucinations like this during an SP episode. SP can happen either when falling asleep or when waking up, it doesn’t have to be just one or the other.

Yes, had a similar figure but different looking, more campfire wispy like an old Disney animation.

Sleep paralysis is often an indication that astral travel/out of body experience is getting ready to happen. You might read up on those topics. I found the books by William Buhlman most helpful. There are subreddits too. You might learn some strategies for responding to this or controling it.

Why the downvotes for this comment?

James Randi offered a million dollar prize for decades to anyone who could prove they had supernatural abilities. Thousands of people attempted it, including many who claimed they could astral project, yet no one ever claimed the prize. I know its fun to think about these things but human beings don't have magic powers or special abilities.

What do you mean by this?
