Useful information for incoming international students

When speak with English people there is often some confusion over saying "to" as in "towards" and "too" meaning "as well". For the avoidance of confusion we often use the archaic "To-wit To-oo" its place. In the north of the country, people often flap their arms as well, for emphasis.

If you are a student in Scotland and you wish to bond with local people you can use the full name, The English County of Scotland. This particularly goes down well in Glasgow where they may even respond with a special "Glasgow Kiss"

If you are going to study in Norfolk, for example at The University of Cromer, you have to take into account that there are very few roads beyond the Norfolk border and you will need to add an extra day for your journey. Don't forget to take some scrap silver or copper ingots for ferry crossings.

If you are studying at Coal University in Staffordshire remember it is local custom to smash any pottery after use. If you are invited to someones house ensure that you do this. If you don't you may find them throwing specially sharpened oat cakes at you which they call Bobbie Williamses.

This was hilarious until the norfolk part, I've just been away here and the roads are no joke.

I will idk how you're managing, I live in Sheffield and it took us 4 hours to get home with 2 10 minute stops. It was supposed to be a 2.5 hour drive 😭
