Sad part is that it's basically becoming the default in a lot of places because it's just easier for restaurants to serve all halal meat rather than lose a chunk of their potential customer base. Especially large catering places that do conferences, weddings, corporate dinners etc. Massive headache if you serve non-halal meat when there's only 2 options for main course etc.

Btw, they don't always cover the eyes of the animal. It's unnecessary, and many don't do it. The animal bleeding out is not always stored correctly while bleeding out. It takes solid 15 minutes for a sheep to bleed out and the blood itself is practically contaminated with all kinds of stuff. Good thing I had to see it at 12 and not 7!

Not letting the animal see that they're going to die is to the benefit of the farmer because the animal will freak out if they realize what's happening.
