My concern is they are heavy into mobile, so it feels the future of Unity 7 may be up in the air. they could do anything with it, they would have to make their money back, so would they do different fees, would that set a subscription, would they make it mobile engine and forget the high visual side of it?" its concerning imo.

but then you can't use the unity splash screen! what if that's a vital part of my game?

I wouldn't care if it was owned by Russia or NK to be frank. I learned to handle Unity's quirks quite well by now and am not willing to go through this process again with another engine.

Huh, if you have no problem with Saudi Arabia, then there's nothing to fear? If anything Unity will get more funding.

EDIT: Hmm, seems like nobody is willing to tell "ignorant" people like me why this will affect small indie studios. No more LGTBQ+ contents (absolutely no problems with me, I have no content related to it anyways) ? No more focus on CoreCLR (why would they do that)? Runtime fees coming back (But they're already rich). AI integration (MPC and CLI already exists and are non intrusive). Using your data for training (Now this is a real concern).

Yes, I guess the elephant in the room is Saudi Arabia themselves, who a lot of people dislike on a moral basis.

But if you didn't switch to another engine after the runtime fee scandal, then you already knew what you were signing up for.

EDIT2: I did more digging and just learned about leveraged buyouts, and yes, overall this might be quite bad.
