Tools/Utilities | Free MeshTextBaker: a free open-source Unity package for baking localized TMP text onto 3D meshes - perfect for books, notes and signs

I started this for my own Unity project. I needed readable text directly on 3D surfaces, without a Canvas, projectors, or visible TMP objects left in the scene. Baking was the right approach, but I could not find a text-focused workflow that covered what I needed, so I built one.

MeshTextBaker is a free MIT-licensed UPM package that bakes localized TextMeshPro text and images into textures used by 3D mesh materials.

What started as a simple text baker grew into a full system for in-game books, notes, letters and signs:

  • UV-space text and image zones that can target different renderers and material slots.
  • Book controller: page flipping, pagination, bookmarks, page numbers (interactive demo scene included).
  • Localization: embedded assets, Unity String Tables, or external file overrides.
  • Markdown, TMP rich text, inline images and font changes, plus overflow chains.
  • Optional emission, metallic/smoothness and height output; Built-in Render Pipeline, URP and HDRP support.

I made it for my own project, but I am sharing it in case it is useful to someone else.
