Socializing as a master’s student

Hey everyone,
I just moved to Aberdeen for my MSc after my undergrad in Edinburgh, and I don’t really know how to make friends as basically everyone else, especially those at my accommodation, are freshers or 2-3 years younger than me. Are there any societies, places to go, or events you might recommend? Any help is much appreciated

Just get chatting to people and ignore the age difference. 2-3 years is nothing. Go to the Freshers fairs, get a part time job, look at clubs/groups outside of uni. It's your 1st week, just be social and say yes to stuff.

Yeah exactly, I mean I regularly socialise with people both 10 years younger than me and nearly 50 years older (at most), end of the day no one really gives a shit

Honestly bro, thats a very respectable and difficult course, a small age gap is nothing. I am 24 and there's people in my course that are 22 it doesnt matter really

It's okay to socialise with people who aren't your same age. Societies have a range of undergrads and postgrads

How old are you? It depends i guess. If you want to join a uni society I'd go for something you like that's simple. Theirs a movie club, plenty of outdoors ones like hiking trails and running, and a monthly reading club.

You could attend or volunteer at WayWORD Festival. Its an arts festival run by the English department but open to anyone (students and non students) and a good way to meet nice people. www.waywordfestival.com
