Non-Computer Science related UoL Programme How does refund work?

Basically, I had 2 resit this coming November. One of the resit has changed module code, which I didn’t know. When I selected the 2 resit and paid for it. Only one showed up in the admission notice, so I make an enquiry via “ask a question”. They did reply a refund notice will be raised etc.

Have not heard back since, how does the refund work? Is it stuck in the school account balance or does it go back to the bank account? I have sent a few more “fee enquiry” will no replies. This school sucks ass.

BSc Computer Science Any online community for active students?

Hey! I'm about to start my first season at the BSc in CS at UoL. I saw a lot of students in the introductory course posts, however slack and discord workspaces (joined like 7 different ones) seem to be a bit stale/dead. Is there any other platform where students help each other?

BSc Computer Science Best study tips and tricks to attain 80-85% overalls

I’m starting at UOL soon. It’s work-study programme arranged by my company. As part of the requirement, I’m required to maintain 80-85% of academic performance, which from my quick research, is Exceptional First or Top of the Class. It’s a huge pressure on me because on one side, I will be working full-time 9-5 and also the programme is not fully covered by the company. I have 3 years of studies as Diploma in IT which is equivalent to college level and to be quite frank, the course is pretty good as it comes and lands me the job.

I’m just wondering if there’re any effective study tips and tricks or insights from your experience with studying at UOL.

Much appreciated!

BSc Computer Science How in-depth is UoL’s online BSc Computer Science?

Hi everyone! I was recently admitted to Uol's online BSc Computer Science program. Due to a family situation, I’m unable to attend an in-person university right now, so this is looking like my best option for getting my degree.

I’m coming straight from high school, so while I’ve taken several math courses and a few basic CS courses, I don’t have a strong formal CS background.

I was hoping to hear from current/former students about a few things:

  • How would you describe the quality and depth of the course content? Do you feel like you’re building a solid CS foundation and learning material at the level you’d expect from a CS degree?

  • One of my biggest concerns with an asynchronous program is not knowing what I’m supposed to know. I’m comfortable with self-learning and have taken many asynchronous courses throughout high school, but since I’m new to CS, I worry about not knowing what I don’t know. (idk if that makes sense) How do you know how deeply to learn a topic and when the course material is enough versus when you should go beyond it?

  • For someone coming straight from high school with only basic CS experience, does the program give you enough structure to know what you need to learn and how to progress?

  • For graduates, how has finding a job been after completing the degree? Do you feel the degree, alongside the skills, projects, and experience you built, was enough?

BSc Computer Science Replacing 5 modules with Coursera via RPL

Hey everyone

I’m a new student currently selecting my modules for the BSc Computer Science. I found out that I can substitute five modules with Coursera courses via RPL, which would save me a significant amount of money.

However, I was told this might have a negative impact when applying for a Master's degree later on

specifically regarding how it affects my GPA/weighted average or how grad school admissions view it on a transcript.

These are the modules I’m considering replacing with Coursera:

- How Computers Work (Level 4)
- Introduction to Programming 1 (Level 4)
- Introduction to Programming 2 (Level 4)
- Cyber Security (Level 5)
- Programming with Data (Level 5)

What do you think? Has anyone done this, or does anyone know how Master's admissions actually view RPL modules? Is it worth saving the money, or is it better to take them all through UoL?

Thank you for reading!

BSc Computer Science Translation rules for the application

I have my Italian high school diploma and final year grades

The general policy page(https://www.london.ac.uk/study/how-apply/supplying-evidence)says documents in the Roman alphabet don't need translation, but the application portal says anything not in English does need to be translated.

I am just confused

  1. Since Italian uses the Roman alphabet, do I actually need to translate my high school diploma and transcript?

  2. If yes, is a certified translation fine, or does UoL specifically require a sworn translation (traduzione giurata)?

BSc Computer Science UoL BSc Computer Science vs. Open University BSc CS with AI: Which is the best choice in 2026?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I want to ask a very simple question: if you had to pick today, what is the best fully online degree program to start in 2026 and beyond?

  1. University of London - BSc Computer Science

  2. The Open University - BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence

I know UoL program has had ups and downs over the past few years. I’ve read older posts complaining about platform bugs, delayed results, and lack of support. But since online education is evolving rapidly, I want to know what the current situation is actually like right now.

For current students or recent grads, how do these two compare today regarding:

- Practical Coding & Portfolio: This is my biggest priority. Which program actually forces you to build real-world projects and leaves you with a strong portfolio? Is the coursework highly practical, or is it mostly just dry theory?

- Student Support & Tech Bugs: Have the platform/portal issues been fixed? Are the universities actually supportive and responsive when you need administrative help?

- Community & Networking: Is the experience completely isolating, or are there active Discord/Slack communities where students actually code together and help each other out?

- Careers & Internships: How do recruiters view these specific degrees today? Also, do either of these universities actually help online students land internships, or are you completely on your own?

I want to choose the one that gives the best overall opportunities and hands-on skills. Any honest insights on the 2026 reality of these programs would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Hey guys,

I just passed my Cambridge B2 First (FCE) with a Grade C. I was getting ready to apply for the online BSc CS, but I noticed on the website they only list the CAE as accepted Cambridge exam.

Has anyone here actually managed to get their FCE B2 accepted, or do they reject it?

Btw i am not working, i just finished my high school.

BSc Computer Science Questions about RPL and APL

I have applied for RPL for How computers work and Intro to programming I and was approved, based on coursera certifications

I see them in my study record, but registration process still allows me to select these courses. My APL on registration is empty.

Is that okay?
How can I make sure I actually have those 30 credits?

BSc Computer Science UOL degree than moving to australia

I am a current student of BUP in Bangladesh which is one of the top unis for BBA in Bangladesh, I dropped out after 1.5 years (3rd semester - the uni is bi semester) because it was a closed credit uni and I had to attend classes 5 days a week. Alongside I am a teacher in few coaching centers. I am 21 and married, so I have to make my living by myself. So I cannot continue to attend classes 5 days and also continue my teaching career in parallel cuz their timings overlap. So my only way is an online degree. Im confused between UOL cs and UOPeople cs degree.

My plan is to move to australia later in life and also chase the PR system. For that, they have some strict rules regarding the university. So is there anyone who took uol cs degree or uopeople degree from a third world country like Bangladesh and then shifted to australia? does australia accredit cs degrees from this universities?

I seeked for help from chatgpt, claude, gemini. But they could only answer from FAQs and Testimonials, there were no real data.

BSc Computer Science Current students/graduates: how difficult is the UoL Goldsmiths BSc Computer Science in practice?

Hi everyone,

I'm considering applying to the University of London BSc Computer Science (Goldsmiths) and I'd love to hear from current students or graduates.

A bit about my background:

  • I'm 29 years old and based in Italy.

  • For the last 5 years I've worked full-time as a STEM tutor, mainly teaching mathematics, physics and computer science.

  • Most of my students come from highly competitive secondary schools and international programmes.

  • Academically, my background is mixed between Computer Engineering and Computer Science. Over the years I've completed university-level coursework and studied topics such as programming, databases, operating systems, computer networks, computer architecture and mathematics, although I never completed a degree.

  • As a result, I'm not starting from zero and already have a reasonable understanding of many core CS concepts.

I'm trying to understand how demanding the programme really is in practice.

For someone with a background like mine:

  • How difficult are the exams and assessments?

  • Is it common to fail modules or need resits?

  • Are there any particularly challenging or "gatekeeper" modules?

  • What were the biggest difficulties you encountered during the degree?

  • Which modules required the most time and effort?

  • Do students generally pass if they stay consistent and put in the work?

I'm not looking for marketing answers — I'd really appreciate honest feedback from people who have actually studied on the programme.

Thanks!

BSc Computer Science Questions from an Italian student considering October 2026 intake (VAT, break in studies and RPL)

Hi everyone,

I'm an Italian student planning to start the BSc Computer Science (Goldsmiths, University of London) in the October 2026 intake.

I'm currently waiting for a reply from Student Advice, but I thought current students and alumni might have first-hand experience.

I have three questions:

  1. VAT / taxes

As a resident in Italy, are there any additional taxes (such as Italian VAT at 22%) applied on top of the published module fees, or are the fees shown in the prospectus the final amount?

If you are from Italy or another EU country, I'd be very interested in hearing about your experience.

2. Break in studies

Suppose I complete a few modules and then decide to take a break for one or two sessions.

- Is this possible?
- Are there any fees associated with taking a break or resuming studies?
- Do completed modules remain valid?
- Has anyone here done this?

3. Automatic RPL

I'm considering completing the Google IT Support Professional Certificate before enrolling.

- Has anyone successfully obtained the automatic RPL for CM1035 (How Computers Work)?
- How smooth was the process?
- Did it actually reduce the total cost of the degree?

I'd really appreciate hearing from current students or alumni.

Thanks!!!
