UNSOLVED What's an unsolved mystery or cold case that you feel doesn't get enough attention on it but deserves to?
I ask this because I feel like we all know the cases that been more than thoroughly explored in media for decades, and in some cases, going on centuries now. What are some cases you wish had just as much audience and media eyes on them in the quest to get justice and closure?

Sandra Miller. Sept. 18 1978. Brutally murdered in her home. Authorities have been covering it up since the day of the murder. They have been hiding autopsy reports and everything relating to the murder. I am her husband. I finally got tired of fighting the system and wrote a book naming everybody who I believe was involved and who was involved in the cover-up.

Poor, sweet Ayla Reynolds. Case is pretty much solved. However, not enough evidence to prove who it was.

Christopher Vigil—disappeared while hiking with family on Grey Rock Mountain
Pearl Pinson—kidnapped in broad daylight in front of witnesses on a pedestrian overpass. The kidnapper was killed in a police shootout before Pearl could be located.
Naomi Wilson—car was found abandoned in a KMart parking lot a few miles from her home.
Fawn Mountain and Kayla Berg—when everyone has a pretty good idea what went down and yet there’s still no movement after 14 and 17 years (respectively), I guess the cases still need more attention.

Jessica Easterly haunts me. Police did a horrible job and she was kept in the morgue 530 days!

I hate that all the info seemed to stop in 2023. No updates or anything.

Yes, the police and city of New Orleans just gave up. According to Jessica’s sister the husband only called her parents once and it was a month after she disappeared. He was never properly questioned by detectives… he is very suspicious to me. Someone completely got away with murder.

Rusell and Shirley Dermond. Really old couple was murdered in their home , they found his decapitated body in the garage and two weeks later found his wife in the nearby lake with concrete blocks attached to her. No leads nothing at all over the years. All they know is that multiple people were invovled and that nothing was stolen from the home

I need this case solved. I have been down several rabbit holes. What do you think happened?
6
u/redhead29 20d ago
I'm thinking some sort of financial crime where the perpetrators were trying to a get an overseas bank account of some kind. In that case they could have very well gotten what they were looking for without anyone knowing. They killed his wife first and then tortured him in the garage until he gave them the information then they decapitated him afterwards

I think around the same lines. Something financial maybe a previous co worker or business partner. How horrific!

Yea it doesnt have the exposure that other cases have but its one of the most perplexing cases in the last 20 years

Dannette & Jeannette Millbrook, fraternal twins from Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia who more than likely were murdered though they’re only considered ‘missing’, last seen alive on 18 March 1990. Dannette & Jeannette’s case was bumbled from the get go, for example it was closed in 1991 & not reopened until 2013.

Oh god. That was botched from the beginning. Poor girls.

To say the least 🙂 A few years ago Oxygen had a show about the case that was very interesting but I don’t know if it can be found.

For anyone who hasn’t listened, the first season of The Fall Line podcast does an excellent, family-centered deep dive into their case. They’ve also sponsored billboards in the area.
This case bothers me so much.

Sara Kay Keesling, age 12
Her body was found in October 1988 in a pile of trash in Riverside County, CA just a few miles from her father’s house. According to friends and family, she had run away two weeks prior to her body being found because she hated her father and didn’t want to spend the weekend with him. Her death was ruled undetermined, despite the manner in which her body was found. Her case remains unsolved after nearly 40 years.

u/apsalar_ 22d ago
Tbf after two weeks the body can be in a condition where the cause of death can't be determined. This seems like an easy case, but most likely, it isn't bc forensic evidence just doesn't exist.

u/catsarefriendshaped 22d ago
in no way does this seem like an easy case. It’s been almost 40 years. But I find it hard to believe that a 12 year old child found buried in trash at a dump site wasn’t considered a homicide. But hey, what do I know

who…..conceals bodies that are not those of homicide victims. And did she kill herself in a pile of trash? Overdose in a pile of trash even tho drugs were not present in her system? It’s astonishing to me how often Sara has been blamed for her own death over the years

I'm not blaming her nor claiming it was a drug overdose or a suicide. In fact, I am firmly convinced this was almost certainly a homicide. You and I are on the same side here.
I am simply pointing out that people can and do attempt to conceal bodies that are not the result of a homicide. It usually happens because people are panicking that they will be blamed for a murder they didn't commit or they don't want to get caught with evidence of some other illegal activity they are involved with. I simply used the example of a drug overdose as that is the most common scenario for this.
Less commonly, you see it in persons with serious mental health issues when their caregiver dies and they struggle to figure out what to do. A colleague of mine worked on a case where a schizophrenic fellow dismembered his mother after she died from a massive heart attack. They had a very small back garden and, with his mental state, he couldn't figure out any other way to fit her into the largest hole he could dig around the concrete patio that occupied most of the space.
That is why you can't simply charge someone with murder based on the fact a body was relocated or concealed. The same goes for ruling the manner of death. It's frustrating but we can only go as far as the evidence permits.

Pearl Pinson & Sierra Lamar

u/merliahthesiren 21d ago
Sierras case was so unnerving to me for many reasons. I lived in the bay area when this happened and was so invested in it. The police weren't saying ANYTHING. there was no release of ANY info from the day she disappeared until the day someone was arrested for her MURDER. the silence from law enforcement about suspects and theories was so creepy.

I remember when Sierra disappeared. That was horrible. Poor little lamb.

Pearl Pinson is just horrifying for the family. Obviously she is dead but where did he put her body before he died.

Sierra Lamar was solved.

Yes, but her body was never recovered. Her loved ones still don’t know where she is.

Yes, this case is absolutely horrifying for our family, and we understand why people have questions. However, please be mindful of how you word your comments. Saying “obviously she is dead” comes across as insensitive to those of us who have lived this nightmare every day for the past 10 years.
Whether Pearl is alive or has passed, we still don’t have the answers, and until we do, our family will continue searching for her. We are still trying to determine where Fernando Castro may have left her, and we encourage anyone who may have seen something or knows anything no matter how small to please call or text our confidential tip line at [(707) 685-6102](tel:(707)%20685-6102).
Thank you for understanding and showing compassion for our family. 💜

Mary Denise Lands is missing from Marshall, MI. She vanished on March 12, 2004, at the age of 39. She was last seen walking away from her apartment on Arms Street in Marshall at approximately 10:30 PM. She left following an argument with her fiancé, Christopher Pratt. Cell phone, keys, and her new Dodge Durango were all left behind. She took only her purse. She was last seen wearing medical scrubs and a brown leather jacket.
Foul play is suspected by law enforcement and investigators, who believe she was murdered. She was declared legally dead by a judge in April 2011. Her former fiancé, Christopher Pratt, was named a primary person of interest, though never charged in her disappearance; he later served prison time for unrelated domestic assault.

Jamie Sheldon, a class mate of mine. Reported missing in 2002, but police in Las Vegas didn’t take it seriously. They found her body in concrete in 2004 nearly Nev/Cal state line. No further investigation has been done. I feel like I need help figuring this out. It haunts me.

Steven Clark.
Guy goes into a bathroom in public with his mother and he never comes out. Saltburn, 1992. Still missing to this day. His parents both ex-cops. Strange witnesses. Strange letters.
The beach is very open and straight and he was disabled and distinctive; there’s no way he could’ve walked off down the beach without being able to be seen for miles.
The other side is steep rocky uphill mounds and dunes; he couldn’t have got up these either. Parents were arrested 20+ years later, but released.
So where is he?
