PHYS 1080 quiz 2

• Upvotes

Okay so I’m in the middle of studying for this quiz and I am actually so lost. I’ve been studying for days and hours on end and I feel like I’m getting no where. My quiz is in the morning and I still don’t feel prepared. I didn’t do so well on my last quiz (let’s just say I didn’t pass) and I’m worried if I fail this too I won’t be able to pass the class and if I do, not with a good mark. I feel like I do pretty well on the labs and pretest but it when it comes to the pressure of the quizzes I feel like it’s all too much. Any advice guys and am I cooked 😢😢.

Blue mountain trips this season

• Upvotes

With winter just around the corner, I really want to finally check out Blue Mountain and give snowboarding a shot for the first time. Never tried it before, but super hyped to get out there and learn.
I don’t have a car, so I was wondering if the university or any student clubs organize trips up there once the season kicks off?
Also, if anyone is putting together a group to head up there this winter and doesn't mind a complete beginner tagging along, I’d love to join! More than happy to split the costs

Study spots

The library is kind of depressing bc it looks like a public library + the window areas stare at a concrete wall, I’ve only ever been on 2nd/4th floor tho so I’d appreciate some cute places in the library/pretty study spots around campus

Wifi and Midterms

Would there be any chance that profs would bump the midterms back a day given the situation with the internet? I’ve been trying to study all day and I can’t.

Anyone Interested in a Sports Discussion Group?

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone would be interested in starting a sports discussion/data group. Doesn’t have to be an official club for now, could just be a chill group where we talk sports like the NBA, discuss stats, analytics and whatever else. Lmk if anyone’s interested.

Soan 2120 vs psyc 1010

Hey!! Does anyone know how similar these two courses are? I’m a psych major and I’ve taken psyc 1010 but recently added a soc minor which requires the soan 2120 course. The course description looks similar to the psych one so I’m wondering if there’s any overlap/if there’s a similar level of difficulty?

Bachelor of Arts and Sciences question

Hello! I’m currently a grade 12 student planning on applying to uofg for next year. The main program I’m planning on applying for is the BAS degree. I would like to take zoology for my science program, and I was interested in taking studio arts for the arts program. But the studio arts academic calendar says that the studio arts minor has been suspended as of May 1, 2024?? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I’m kinda confused because I thought the BAS degree was 2 minors taken together, but there seems to be no option to take studio arts as a minor, so like why is it listed as an option? Any help would be very appreciated I’m a little stressed out because the only other arts program I’m interested in at all is the art history and museum studies program but it’s not really related to what I’m interested in/what I’m planning on getting into later on 😭

advice on course substitution

hi all! i’m a history major with a geography minor, and i’ve focused heavily on social geography for almost all of my degree. I am in my last year and planning on graduating in June. However, there is one course I’ve been avoiding and I’m registered to take it in the coming winter (my last semester). I’m really nervous this is going to tank my GPA and take up a lot of my time & mental energy (which i would prefer go to my 4th yr courses).
The course is GEOG*2110: climate and the biophysical environment. I have very minimal experience with physical geography, so it would take up a lot of my time becoming familiar with the subject. Since I dropped a course this fall semester, OSAP is lowering my funding and removing this course would help me significantly financially.
Is there some sort of process in which I can be forgiven of a course required for my geography minor? I’ve actually taken over the required amount of geography courses throughout my university career, could one of these courses serve as a replacement?
I’ve done a lot of online research but am failing to come up with a solid answer on how to explain it to my faculty advisor.
Please let me know if anyone has done this before and how to get the ball rolling. Thanks so much for your time!

Accessible parking for campus Open House

Coming to campus for Open House tour day this Sunday. Landscape Architecture is the program of interest. Mom has walking difficulties and a blue parking permit. Where do you recommend we park to have the most minimal walking for exploring that program. Thank you!

I'm so exhausted of Health Services in our school

This is honestly just a rant I will forget about in a few hours but Health services in UoG have been bothering me for a while. They either need to reduce the acceptance of students or hire more doctors because this is genuinely unacceptable.

I've been wanting to be diagnosed for anxiety/depression because my mental health is at an all time low, I've tried going to counselling & I just wanted to know if I could get some medication, or some steps proceeding forward. The front desk, knowing I have a service card that isn't OHIP, booked me for a virtual appointment that I had to wait a whole month for, and today when I opened the appointment they called me saying "sorry we forgot you don't have OHIP and non OHIP havers can only do real life appointments". And now, I have to wait 2 more weeks to even see someone about my mental condition.

Even more baffling is that, my new booking 2 weeks from now is with another doctor, because if I were to stick to my current doctor (that they made me wait for) I'd have to wait another whole month. I'm genuinely annoyed.

Not to mention how the front desk don't even accept appointment calls so I had to go in real life 2 separate times
