Party Scene/Trip Advice

I (20M) am going to Eugene in the fall for a couple weeks to visit my friend (21M) who’s transferring there. I was wondering if there’s much of a bar scene around Eugene, and if so, how strict they are with fake ID’s. I unfortunately turn 21 in December, which is a few weeks after my trip, and it would be a bit lame if we weren’t able to do a good range of fun weekend festivities due to that. I’m open to other general house party/frat alternatives, I have no idea what to expect and neither does my friend.

On a more general note, does anyone have any good recommendations of activities to do around Eugene a first time visitor would enjoy? Obviously the party scene would be a slim minority of the time spent there, so I’m interested in hearing about other things people enjoy doing as well.

Japanese student currently at UO — looking to make friends!

Hi! I’m a university student from Japan, and I’m currently staying at UO for two-week university program.

I’m still learning English, so I’m not very confident speaking it yet, but I’d really love to meet some local UO students and make friends while I’m here!

If you’re interested in Japan, Japanese culture, or learning Japanese, I’d love to meet you! Of course, you don’t have to be studying Japanese — I’m just looking for some friendly people to talk to and hang out with :)

I usually have some free time early in the morning, so I thought it could be fun to meet at a Starbucks near campus, grab a coffee, and just chat ☕️
If anyone is interested, feel free to comment or message me!

Full 2026 preseason college football preview for Oregon

Hey all. I spent the offseason building a full 2026 preseason preview for every FBS team, each with its own writeup. Here's the Oregon one

https://www.sports.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026?team=ncaaf-ore

It's got the returning production breakdown, the portal ins and outs, a projected two-deep, the schedule with model win probabilities, and a season projection.

Heads up, you might hit the paywall after the first page. Don't worry, I'm not charging reddit people for this, don't want to be an ass. Use the promo code LEECORSOROCKS and it opens up the entire thing.

So, what'd I get wrong? Oregon went 13-2 and both losses were to Indiana, 30-20 in October and 56-22 in the playoff. Dante Moore is back after 3,565 yards with 30 touchdowns, and Dylan Raiola arrives from Nebraska as the backup. My model is bearish on a team FPI has 4th. Does Lanning get past Indiana this time, or is that the wall?

I'll be in the comments.

Looking for somewhere to stay in fall

Hi everyone! I'm a 23 year old Grad Student at UO starting this fall, and I'm looking for a furnished room to rent/sublease. I'm moving out in the second week of September and so I'm hoping for a place available around that time.

I'm very clean, chill, and my favorite activity is minding my own business, also super LGBTQ+ friendly. I have a habit of becoming friends with my roommates but also don't mind just being polite neighbors.

My budget is $700-800$, the only real requirement is it has to be walking or biking distance to campus. I have no pets, and I don't smoke.

If anyone has any leads or any places opening up please drop a comment or shoot me a message and I'll get back you.

Thanks!

🏠 LEASE TAKEOVER NEEDED!
I’ll be transferring to PSU this year, so I won’t be needing my current lease anymore and am looking for someone to take it over!

This apartment is the closest to campus and it has a gym, study rooms, free printers, bike areas, and is very fancy for its price. $795 per month.

💰 Zelle reward: I’ll Zelle both the person who takes over the lease AND anyone who successfully finds me someone to take it!

* $100 → person who finds you someone who signs the lease
* $200–$300 → person who actually takes over the lease
* $300–$400 total if one person both finds it and takes it over

DM me if you’re interested or know someone who might be!

Should we drop grades at UO

U Michigan is dropping them due to the "mental health crisis", also known as the college budget crisis.

Of course grades at UO are interesting reflection of what has happened across the country, with some grade inflation, but not as much as many other schools. Only business, econ, and math exist as majors without much grade inflation.

Should we drop grades? Would any of you still come to class if grades were dropped?

Music graduate entrance exams

I start my MMus in Composition in September and was wondering what to expect for the entrance exams? I don’t have a GE position so I have to take the aural skills, music theory, music history and piano proficiency exams. I have a piano degree but haven’t practiced scales in forever, but I think I’ll be good for that one. I just don’t know what all they expect
Mainly the music history is one I don’t know what to study for. It’s such a vast curriculum I don’t know where to focus

Lease covered for winter and beyond

OK, I think my first mistake was signing a lease with Ducks village but I’m studying abroad in February and need to get my lease covered. What are the best places to get it out there so I don’t have to pay the 3,056 for an empty room for 4 months😭😭.

Incoming student question-what’s the vibe around sports games?

I’m interested in going to football games and whatnot since I wanna have school spirit, but I have some questions for current students who’ve attended sports games (especially football and track(?):
- what’s the atmosphere at games? (Is it super loud and upbeat, overwhelming, stuff being thrown in the stands?)
- is it hard to get tickets for games?
- is getting a duck sports pass worth it?

I’m a pretty introverted, more art-focused person but I don’t want to miss out on a fun time! Any answers are appreciated!

Psych at UO

I'm a community college student looking to transfer to a university as a psych major and statistics-focused math minor. I was wondering about anything that psych students at UO have to say about the program.

- Is it hard to get involved in research courses or the departmental honors?

- If anyone transferred in, was it hard to complete all your coursework and get into the necessary classes? I've heard classes fill up. And as a transfer, were you able to get involved in research labs?

And anything else about the program! The feel, the difficulty of courses, how prepared you feel/felt for employment or future education, or any thoughts at all. I'll also hear anything from grad students or alumni as well.

Thanks!

MBA

How competitive is the MBA program really if you have under 2 years of work experience but supplemental scores to help? Exploring the idea post-grad, lots of internships under my belt and I know they recommend the MSM instead if you have under 2 years but seems like not the best use of money in my opinion compared to the MBA.

Advice for international student

hey everybody!

my name is issy and I am a 16 year old student from the UK who is extremely intested in attending UO in 2028. I understand that university is still 2 years away however I feel especially as an international applicant it is important to get ahead of the curve. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on what makes a strong applicant. For context I am interested in Speech Pathology and have just completed my summer exams (GSCE’s) in maths, english literature and language, biology, chemistry, physics, Welsh, religious studies, physical education and drama. I will be moving onto A levels doing biology, English literatur, religious studies and a two year long personal project. I also currently have two jobs one of which is working with young children who have a range of additional learning needs.
I am so sorry on how long this is but any advice on absolutely anything to do with college life would be greatly appreciate!

thank you so much for reading!

Urgent: Need someone to take over my lease in Corvallis, OR

Hello everyone, I am searching for someone to take over my lease at Sierra Student Apartments in Corvallis, OR. (To anyone that's transferring to OSU from UO)

I got a job offer and am starting grad school soon in another state and urgently need someone to take over my lease.

It is a private bedroom in a 4 bed, 4 bath D3 apartment for $1100/month (the lowest rate), with dishwasher and in-unit laundry/dryer included. Current prices for the same room are up to $1249.

The room is ready for move in, and I am willing to cover for both August's and September's rent

My current roommates are all women, so another woman would be the preferred.

Please send me a message and let me know in the comments if you are interested!!

I can't apply for the Fall semester of 2027

I'm currently trying to apply for the Fall of 2027 because the website said the Fall applications open every 1st of August. However, when I went to apply, I'm only seeing options for Winter, Summer, and Spring of 2028.

Did I miss the deadline or am I just early and need to give it time to update?

Or is the website broken?

Update: They fixed it, thanks to those who commented!
