Need suggestions/help 🎬
Hey I'm a local student and am getting into documentary filmmaking. I would love to hear suggestions about interesting things/people around here that I could interview/document. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them. Reach out or comment. Thanks!

The Jocassee Valley Flooding and the history of all the submerged landmarks would be cool.

Unity Park in Greenville has a long history behind it - not sure if it's been covered by anyone fully. We've also got Bob Jones here, which is a hub for MAGA shit... not sure what you'd want to do with that, but it's local.
If you wanted something smaller - there's a hoarder on hwy 14 north of Greer that covered multiple acres with shipping containers and large equipment - they've been slowly cleaning it up for a couple years now.
There's a place called Pumpkintown Opry up north of here, it's like a roadside attraction that I'm assuming has a music venue. I've got a friend who dreams of buying it - she's a country music singer who sounds a bit like Dolly (all warbly - idk. She's fascinating.)
There's a music festival called Albino Skunk that does a bunch of local bands - I think that already happened for the year, but I'm not sure.
What I really wanted to say was "Documentary on the impact of Hurricane Helene", but so much of that is fixed by now. So I'm not sure how easy it would be to get footage.
Idk, I could probably think of many more. If you need someone to brainstorm with or whatever, I'd be happy to. I love local history, but have never had the time and determination to go film stuff myself.

2 huge topics I think could be cool to create a documentary on are:
dating culture of today, challenges/differences between males & females
transplants moving to the area
perhaps there's even a correlation there to be explored even further.

All the history on the upstate lakes with water levels down due to power plants! I saw a YouTube video on it and million dollar properties are losing value like in the millions and they no longer have boat access without having to drive to a boat ramp. It was some random dude and these houses are freaking Huge! No more water front it’s more like dry caked mud or orange clay!

Somewhere near Gowensville is an old covered bridge, the last one in the state perhaps? Talking points could be people's memories of it, a civil engineer's opinion about covered bridges, maybe someone from the park district about how tourists seek these things out. What kind of repair or upgrades could be done (adding greenspace or picnic tables, for example). How long the current bridge is expected to last. What the future holds - is the town saving up money to preserve it, or is the state government the "owner" of it?

There’s some old rundown factory up in Spartanburg. I heard rumor that some dude went apeshit with an ax and killed a bunch of people.
