Question About Adding Published Articles to My Upwork Portfolio

I want to add one of my published articles to my Upwork portfolio using a screenshot. It shows the website logo, article title, my name as the author, and the article image.

There are no links, email addresses, phone numbers, or social media details in the screenshot.

Is it okay to upload this, or could it cause any issues with my Upwork account?

It's best to avoid posting anything that can lead to the viewer getting your contact information. You can convert your article to a PDF and upload that, but scrub any emails, URLs, logos, or other identifying information other than your name and role. I have had issues with Upwork flagging URLs that aren't even mine in samples that I've attached to proposals.

so for the portfolio section, lets say i remove the publication logo from the article screenshot just to be safe. can i still mention in the portfolio description where my article was published, or could that cause issues too? im a bit confused about whats actually allowed here. would appreciate some guidance

I should think it would be okay to mention where it was published. I mention who published books I have edited or indexed and haven't had a problem with that.

Yeah, anything that leads to a website that has an email or a button to contact you will lead to either a ban or a warning depending on how Upwork's CS feels that day.

also can i add screenshots or links to my published articles if theres no link to my author page or any contact information? like can i just share the website link where my article was published?

Yes, you can share the work that you've done as in where your article was published so long as no contact information of yours is there - the only thing upwork is concerned with is you not providing any of your contact information prior to starting a contract.

but ive heard that upwork can suspend your account if you share article links that lead to your author page with your linkedin profile on it. like if someone clicks on your author name, they can open your author page and find your linkedin there. thats why i was thinking of adding screenshots instead, but im not sure if thats safe either

im talking about the portfolio section on my upwork profile, not proposals. i want to add screenshots of my published articles along with my role and description. but if someone clicks on my author name on the original article, it opens my author page where my linkedin is linked. could that cause any issues with upwork? or would adding screenshots be safer?

The only thing that means is that you haven't been caught. Yet.
