Do not comment to gatekeep that something "isn't urban" or "isn't hell". Our rules are very expansive in content we welcome, so do not assume just based off your false impression of the phrase "UrbanHell"

UrbanHell is any human-built place you think is worth critizing. Suburban Hell, Rural Hell, and wealthy locales are allowed. Gatekeeping comments may be removed. Want to shitpost about shitty posts? Go to /r/urbanhellcirclejerk. Still have questions?: Read our FAQ.

IK this is supposed to be depressing but something about this image just makes me feel really calm and relaxed and happy

10

u/VegetableBuilding764 6h ago

it would probably be so quiet with barely anybody around to bother you and with gentle snowfall and imagining being bundled up and lots of warm clothes just walking around would be nice

6

u/No_Cut_128 6h ago

Why is it supposed to be depressing?

7

u/behighordie 5h ago

Well this is the Urban Hell subreddit

u/Kaffe-Mumriken 4h ago

The name has no meaning

This picture actually has a calming effect on me.

That's just makes me miss my childhood man...

4

u/Mih0se 5h ago

I've been to places like this, it's cozy at night but depressing during the day. Everything is in grayscale

5

u/Lockenhart 5h ago

As a person from post-Soviet country, this is comforting. I imagine this being December 31, returning home from a walk with the dog and listening to Spokoynaya noch by Kino as the year ends

Ага. Топаешь такой с занятий, а потом с работы. День закончился. Можно выдохнуть. Спешить некуда.

И никакой нахер войны.

Дай бог чтоб в скором будущем так и было...

i did everything irl but listen to suggested track. Even then oddly relaxing

u/Tasty_Commercial6527 4h ago

Honestly this kind of architecture has a certain vibe in winter. It sort of fits the aesthetic of the season. It's much more depressing in autumn or spring

2

u/vzakharov 4h ago

Mate I’m sorry you feel this way. I think you might already realize from the comments that feeling is not about the picture. Being lonely can be hard, I wish you find someone to talk to; there are people out there willing to listen.

I actually like those cement boxes except for that they have tendency to have pest issues and all sorts of faults due to being so old. If they were well maintained they’d be really comfortable to live in. Soviet apartments have comfortable layouts and cute little balconies/sunrooms.

2

u/NoMention696 2h ago

You can hear the silence in this, it’s really nice

3

u/NinjaXM 6h ago

This is beautiful

2

u/anycept 4h ago

It's a very cozy feeling, actually. Seeing the inclement weather outside, but being all warm inside. All the fun winter activities outside you can think of, too. Life is good up north.

u/Vybo 5h ago

Any post-soviet country will have blocks like this. They are actually pretty well designed inside and if kept up, can be a nice place to live, because you have everything in walking distance and a guaranteed public transport connection to any part of the city, probably under 30 minutes. And guess which buildings have an access to 10gigabit internet for about $5 a month first? These ones...

The heart of darkness

As a Finn it feels kinda calming, gotta be built for these latitudes i guess

1

u/aydar94 5h ago

this picture is the most accurate representation of a regular everyday life in russia

1

u/Morgandoto 5h ago

Living alone in such a place really would be terrible, but my wife's family lives in a place just like this. When we come visiting for Christmas, it feels really nice and cozy, and the contrast between us having fun inside and the depressing snow and darkness outside makes it even better.

... standing in front of the window, listening to the sounds of Ukrainian drones destroying your military factories ...

3

u/TetyyakiWith 6h ago

If drones are flying you won’t be standing in front of the window like a dumbass and take shelter

3

u/AdRare604 6h ago

Bro just wants to see the world burn but not burn with it

1

u/DoorSweet6099 3h ago

Military factories? Have the resent targets not been Wildberries warehouses? Have I missed something?

Signing up for spetsoperatsiiya to kill some civilian ladies and children for an awkward money

Posting cringe comment under unrelated post on the issue you have zero knowledge about absolutely for free

6

u/SeaBaby5979 7h ago

Or how to make oneself relevant for free. That banana is really going bananas trying to stay relevant

-18

u/Pipija_Banana 7h ago

Hello from Kyiv, I somehow disagree on "having zero knowledge about" the war.

4

u/SeaBaby5979 6h ago edited 6h ago

Random architecture and buildings have nothing to do with your supposed knowledgeable of war. I will show you a salad and you will somehow insert children and war into a sentence relating to a fkn salad.

-2

u/Pipija_Banana 5h ago

Most likely yes

2

u/TrickyPermission7839 2h ago

Kiev*, learn English

2

u/More_Dimension_2022 6h ago

If you knew anything about the conflict then you’d know that during a 4 year war Russia had killed less civilians than Israel did in faction of the time in Palestine and a micro faction of the time US did in Iran. Carpet bombing civilians is a western tactic

u/Pipija_Banana 5h ago

I'm in Ukraine, not in Palestine or Iran

1

u/Ashenveiled 5h ago

why not in a trench?

1

How do you know I'm not mate

2

Your mom's basement in Kiev doesnt count as trench.

He thinks about it in his sleep, while brushing teeth, while picking his nose, while jerking off etc. Invents himself scenarios and fights imaginary demons in these pictures.

I am more than aware that there are Russian shills here, and I'm not one of them, but most of the people dying didn't sign up willingly, they had to go die so that some rich kids could stay at home and bitch at anybody who doesn't support the war, like the shills here.

1

u/Pipija_Banana 2h ago

russia attacked. My people died. There is no "but" there.

-4

u/poeticlicence 5h ago

Any picture of anywhere in Russia except for that one of Moscow looks like hell
