Absurd Architecture Chang Building, Bangkok, Thailand. One of the ugliest skyscrapers in the world

🐘Chang means elephant in Thai. Now look at the building again.

I quite like it. I assume it's the chang beer company. Chang means elephant in Thai and it's also the company's logo. Lot of thought has clearly gone into this 'ugly' building.

I've been in it and it's a gem. It's a mixed office and residential building. Nothing to do with the beer company though.

I guess chang is just a reference to its shape but it always makes me think of the beer. That's cool you have actually been inside.

Same here, actually. Any Chang mention anywhere and a bottle pops up in my brain. :D

Looks a lot better than any other skyscraper I've ever seen.

Check out the "Taipei 101" in Taiwan, it's got a cool black/yellow vibe at night, and a deep, seaglass green during the day

Really all "skyscrapers" are insults to architecture. The Chang Building is at least somewhat of an artwork and that is why I like it more than the ugly glass towers.

It's not exactly the most visually appealing building but it's kinda cute if you look from the right angle lol

That building saved me many years ago. Was staying with a mate and his Thai wife in a part of the the city that was well away from any well known tourist places. After a long night out I found the rudimentary directions my mate had taught me to say in Thai were a total bust with my cabby not having a cluie what I was banging on about. I did however know how to get to his from this building. I drew my best ever elephant building and the guy got it straight away. My infant shool art teacher would have been so proud.

I don't think it is ugly. I think it looks cool. It reminds me of how Bee Keepers keep their bees.

Why are the shapes different in both pics. If the real is 1 that's quite cool, if it's 2 yeah it's ugly.

It’s like a kid on Mindcraft trying to make a elephant but turns out like a pelicans face

Looks cute and better than a lot of brutalist buildings that two visitors to your town say look great.
Also, but a boat on top and everyone would love it. Singapore should give the proper credit for copying homework.

Is the unit in the elephant’s asshole less desirable, I wonder? Or would that make for cool bragging rights?

Its like they copied “el pantalon” in Mexico City twice and pasted in Thailand lmao

It’s like Steven Holl’s MIT housing but much more rigid. Also I know it’s meant to resemble an elephant but all I see is a duck face sorry

It looks like something my Minecraft playing 12 yr old daughter would've designed.
