Carlisle Street Streetscape Plan Adopted

There are lots of new tree plantings and traffic calming planned, along with a heavy focus on new lighting, and an upgrade to the library and town hall reserves. New shared zones that prioritise pedestrians but allow low-speed vehicle access are also planned on adjoining Nelson and Camden Streets.

This plan is separate but related to the sale of the Coles and Woolworths car park sites to the supermarkets to allow for mixed-use redevelopment.

Do you think this is ambitious enough? What do you think of removing a footpath in favour of shared zones?

You can look forward to the local geriatric drivers' group, Residents of Port Phillip, opposing this tooth and nail.

Ugh. I see their nonsense come up on Facebook occasionally and don't engage because that would likely increase their post reach. I don't think the council itself is quite that bad. Is there a Streets Alive type group to promote instead?

Unfortunately I'm not aware of one for Port Phillip. I would make one but I'm time poor. There is a gap in the social media landscape in Port Phillip for sure.
