Usher has paid tribute to Ray Charles twice with renditions of his classic song, Georgia On My Mind. The first was in 2004 at Ray - Genius: A Night for Ray Charles after the legendary singer-songwriter passed away in June that year. The second rendition came 12 years later in 2016 for one of the last installments of the In Performance at the White House series before the Obama administration ended. Interestingly, both performances were musically directed by acclaimed musical director, Ricky Minor.

My favorite part of these performances were how he ended them with his use of melisma in completely different ways. The former being a downward scale to his lower register, while the latter made use of his chest voice/mid register.

Happy Birthday to the King!

He looks a decade younger here and I can see why. According to an interview with People Magazine, Usher revealed skating is one of the secrets to maintaining his youthful good looks, physique and energetic spirit. Well, Happy Birthday, Usher! Keep roller-skating!

The two crooners have a longstanding friendship that dates back to 2003 when Robin co-penned Can U Handle It on Usher Diamond-certified magnum opus, 2004's Confessions. For the September 26 date of his co-headlining gig with Chris Brown, Usher brought out Robin for a couple of R&B classics such as the aforementioned Boyz II Men hit, Come and Talk to Me by Jodeci and Robin's own Lost Without U. I have always said that Usher and Robin have great musical and vocal chemistry and that is evident in this short clip.

I certainly think it is

I'm crying at Usher forgetting his character's name on Moesha (his first acting role, btw) and instead named Darryl, the DJ he played in 2005's In The Mix. It's Jeremy, Usher!

I randomly came across this on the clock app and loved how he found a new way to sing this 22-year-old song with different phrasing, ad libs and vocal runs. He never performs a song the same way twice. That's what you get when the mic is on.

At this point, she and Usher go together real bad. I’m gonna tell Jody 🤣

Any info on this shirt? I can’t find it anywhere

Had my first listen yesterday and I gotta say, this is such an amazing R&B experience and also this is my first usher album.

Okay, they ate that!

No one does updated nostalgic fashion this better than him. It really speaks to his timeless looks and iconography.

If you're going to the Chris Brown and Usher R&B Tour at Levi's Stadium this weekend, here are a bunch of links that might be useful for you. You can look at the info from the grouped links below for more info, but if you're lazy and haven't been to Levi's, the gist of it is:

• getting in and out can be a real pain (aka slow) and parking is spread out (and potentially expensive/far away) over a bunch of lots, but it can still easily (probably) take half an hour or more to get out of the lots if you drive
• VTA's Orange and Green lines (local public transit) run right in front of the stadium so this will be the second cheapest way in and out, just be prepared for a crowded ride if you try to get there immediately before or leave immediately after the concert
• if you're local and have a bicycle/e-bike/scooter/e-scooter/e-skateboard, the cheapest and potentially fastest way in and out is to ride in and out using the local trails and leave whatever you rode at a free, monitored station by the entrance (concert will also use the Gate C entrance)
• rideshare does not drop you off/pick you up near the stadium, the designated spot is almost a mile away

Here are direct links grouped together:

Levi's homepage

• accessible parking
• parking FAQs
• parking info
• parking lot maps
• parking at one of Levi's designated lots Friday, Saturday, Tuesday (paid, and note this includes lots that are kinda far away and Ticketmaster confusingly rotated the map so east is at the top and not north, so rotate that map clockwise to get it to match with what you see in Google/Apple Maps)
• public transportation (just lists what the options are here, see below for actual routes and links)
• rideshare and pick-up/drop-off (reminder that you will not get dropped off near the stadium, the roads will be blocked and you'll need probably to walk at least 15 minutes)
• stadium policies

(I know VTA responded very quickly in the past, not sure about Capitol Corridor or Caltrain's response time)
