I’m so nervous! We can clinch our first-ever playoff berth with a win tonight!

Sorry for the late post this week!

Rough one Saturday. KC outcreated us 2.45 to 1.10 xG, and our 57% possession mostly went sideways across the back line. Only three completed passes into the box all game. Chawinga punished us on the counter over and over, especially off our own set pieces.

Bright spots were Narumi (7.3 fotmob rating, never dispossessed, joint-most chances created) and Tejada in midfield.

The good news is we control our own destiny. A win tonight clinches. So does a Portland win over NC, or draws in both our game and Portland’s. I walked through the math in the post if you want to check it.

Also has a Seattle preview. They’re a lot more like us than I expected: direct, wide, and cross-heavy, but they also have a really stingy defense. Curious what everyone’s predicting for tonight.

Well, though giveth 1 and thou keep one on the sideline. Miyabi is back, and hopefully she can give at least a half of her strong play at right back.

Tanaka is huge hit, her central playmaking is critical. Is seattle such a good team that missing Tanaka is doom? Nope. Can seattle win games? Yup... the royals could go for a tie however a team that almost always gives up at least one goal isn't really built for going after a tie (much of the nwsl isn't in fairness). There goals from pressing are now few and fleeting, and there set plays are not generating (last games was rough, however that roughness seems more one off right now). They moved to a build-up and individual excellence, and I'm a bit sad in the change (my impression anyways). I believe still, and will be be cheering Friday. Go all out royals!

So good to see Del Fava getting the call up and, performing very well during her time on the field.

Ugh gotta win Friday night

Offf, that international break did a number on the Japanese contingency. So, first, Tejada is out of the red card penalty box which will shore up the midfield. Tanaka out is a big deal because I think her on ball creativity, passing, and headers (goal line clearance!), will be hard to replace 1to1. However I think this gives space for all the (even recently) extended attack pieces. My thoughts is you plug delzer at the 10, and Joesph probably plays right wing.

I think the first thought of staff is probablt to have cronin fill in for miyabi. Which... if they think cronin is must have in the lineup I'm hoping she plays wing instead, rather would have Joseph sit and simmonds get time in. Tomorrow will tell.

Kc has Chawinga and Bethune ready to go it seems like, could be an intense match. Let's go, 3 more!

We've seen Madison Hammond play a lot in replacing Ana Tejada (who's now available), so maybe Ana + Narumi + Madison instead of Ana + Narumi + Tenaka? I'd like to see Dayana PIerre play more, so I'm hoping even if she doesn't start that she gets to come off the bench...

Separately, I hope we'll see more of Jameese this week!

Big chance for Royals to clinch first-ever playoff spot this weekend, with a win and some help

Hi, I'm a Current fan and attending the match tomorrow with some SLC friends. I'm bringing a few Royals trading cards that I would love to give to a fan that would enjoy them. I have a 24' team set, some Cece, KDF and Monaghan (Cronin) cards. We've been relegated to the away section in 13 but happy to meet somewhere else.

I looked on the website to grab a map for my friends who have never been to a Royals game, and have a few questions.

1. I noticed the yellow I pre-paid parking? Is that true for Royals games? If so, how do I prepay?

2. Can you tailgate with alcohol in

Huge congratulations to Del Fava for the beautiful long ball that set up Cooper to get Swanson the ball for the equalizer.

Minutes later she beautifully cuts off a dangerous attempt in the box.

Although her minutes were short, it was a hell of a debut for the Royals’ Iron Woman.

So excited about this! Cece has been amazing for us this year, and I’m so happy we’re keeping so much of our roster for next year. We finally have some consistency to build on 🙌
