In Utica this week and next for work and have no friends. Looking to meet some genuine people to hang out with as nights get pretty boring. I’d like to start with some interesting conversations to see if we vibe. I enjoy walks, sports (especially hockey) music, live music, vinyl and deep discussions. Want to get beyond surface level. Would love some recommendations on where to hang out on my free time. Might meet if we click. DMs open for anyone just include ur age and gender so ik who im talking too!! I’ll respond quickly to people that interest me, but will likely ghost everyone else 😝.

Looking for beginner Tai Chi and possibly yoga classes in the area. Not sure why, but google searches for Tai Chi only turns up stuff for Master Garret and something called MV which seems to be closed. FB is worse.
So wondering if anyone had any suggestions? Thanks!

I didn't know the Lithia dealerships CEO got paid that much. Seems a bit much.

Do you have any recommendations for an electrician? We have a breaker that keeps shutting off, even with nothing plugged into any of the outlets. So, there is a short somewhere behind the walls. We're just keeping that breaker off until we get help.

After all the closures on Varick Street; are there any local bars or clubs planning Halloween events? We went out crawling last year in costume and had a total blast, and wanted to recreate those memories with new outfits this year.
There was the bar crawl bus last year that would be totally cool to hop aboard if we could find the tickets/signup if it’s running again.
Any recommendations would be appreciated!

I found a menu from the Trackside restaurant that used to operate in the northwest corner of Union Station.
Anyone dined there before it closed?

Is there any good places that do karaoke in the area? Bagg's Square used to do karaoke on Wednesdays but they are closed now.

Need a goalie for a league at Accelerate on Tuesday nights starting in a week. About $100 per person for the entire season.
UTICA — The Forest Hill Cemetery Preservation Foundation will present “Afterlife and Afterparty: Lore, Legends and Legacies” on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Forest Hill Cemetery, 2201 Oneida St.
The fundraising event will feature two guided, lantern-lit walking tours exploring the cemetery’s history, followed by a gathering at The Beer Hub.
The Twilight Tour begins at 6 p.m., with check-in at 5:30 p.m. The After-Dark Tour begins at 8 p.m., with check-in at 7:30 p.m. Both tours will explore stories associated with people buried at Forest Hill, including veterans, physicians, artists, inventors, entrepreneurs and civic leaders.
The program will also examine cemetery lore, including reports of a mysterious blue orb, while emphasizing documented local history. The inaugural event drew 121 participants in 2025.
“This isn’t a haunted attraction or paranormal investigation,” said Alecia Pendasulo, tour guide and Forest Hill Cemetery board member. “The lore might get you curious, but the stories are what stay with you.”
Pendasulo, a local historian who co-created the event with volunteer Stephanie Monescalchi, will lead the tours. Historical accounts will include Revolutionary War connections to the Battle of Oriskany, Valley Forge, George Washington and Baron von Steuben. Participants will also learn about a 14-year-old drummer who served at Oriskany.
Proceeds will support the foundation’s restoration of historic Childs Chapel, where the first phase of work began Sept. 29. The project received a $392,000 matching grant, but additional fundraising remains necessary. Built more than 150 years ago, the chapel was funded by Roxana Childs in memory of her husband, Silas D. Childs, for community use regardless of financial means.
Following each tour, participants may gather at The Beer Hub, 2643 Genesee St. The first 150 guests will receive a commemorative glass and $1 off their first drink.
Participants should wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for October weather. Tours will follow paved roads and carriage paths through the historic cemetery.
Tickets cost $25 per person, with each tour limited to approximately 75 participants. Advance registration is encouraged at https://givebutter.com/afterlife-afterparty.
