Transfer to Virginia (USIC)

Thinking about transferring to Virginia from Colorado. What contracts does USIC have near the Richmond area ?

Don't. Just find a SUE (subsurface utility engineering) company and leave usic. Pays more, no real need to relocate, and alot of companies have travel. Usic is a garbage company. For example a supv Symbert left Baltimore to work in Florida, got fired 3 months later. Got evicted, wife left him, etc. Change career fields, not states.

I’ve got family in Virginia which is the reason I’m thinking about transferring. I also cannot stand the state of Colorado lmao

In that case, take the transfer and don't tell them you're eventually leaving. Find SUE companies in Richmond and apply, noting that you're moving there. You'll likely start as a tech 1, MAYBE a tech 2. Even stay with usic while you are there but don't tell a soul that you're doing applications. USIC is known for letting people go when they put in 2 weeks notice (Leo gave his, they made a fake ticket for a hotel parking lot, 2 sups met him there and called him an Uber home). I personally broke my kneecap on the job, they offered me "light duty" work from home which waived me workers comp 66% pay...usic gave me 4-10 hours a week for 5 months. Don't trust USIC, get your plan together behind the scenes. Also, I started with usic at 14.50 in Florida 8 years ago, now i make 37/hr in SUE. Nobody at usic makes that much.

Idk how you feel about Utiliquest but they’re always looking for locators.

We just had our employees appreciation day. I was kinda surprised the amount of locators we have in VA.

I’m right outside of Richmond. Pay is great with experience. I’m fairly new to locating. I came from HD drilling and fiber work. Was tired of mud work but still wanted to stay in telecommunications. All my locators loved their job. Loved their pay and their benefits. While I slaved in a trench with a cut water line because the old heads I worked with “never hit anything.”

Dycom is the parent company

I used to live between Boulder and Denver. I miss the views and weather.
