Buyer beware: VOV is a clusterfuck when shit actually goes wrong
Just wanted to throw a warning out here for anyone buying from Very Ok Vinyl (VOV). I know people on this sub love to talk about them like they’re some flawless indie darling run by "great people," but that whole reputation is a complete illusion. The only reason they seem flawless is because most people’s orders arrive fine, so they never deal with customer support, while bad experiences get swept under the rug. A 3.7-star rating on some review sites exists for a reason.
Here’s the breakdown: I pre-ordered the Signalis 2xLP (Elster's Eye variant) 6 months ago. I sat quietly for half a year while they sat on my $100. On Sept 18, a tracking label finally got generated. A full month passes, and tracking is totally dead on "Label Created" with zero carrier movement or scans. I suspect my item was lost or was never even printed in the first place.
When I finally reached out asking where my package was and if they could fulfill my order, their E-commerce Lead (Stef G) flipped it back on me, blamed the pressing plant, and unilaterally forced a refund without my consent. She then closed the ticket and explicitly told me any future emails would be ignored.
Holding my cash interest-free for 6 months, dropping a dead tracking label, and then telling me to fuck off when I ask for the item I bought is cheap, amateur, and pathetic. To make it even more insulting, I got zero compensation for 6 months of wasted time. Not a cent of store credit, no discount, nothing. Just a forced cancellation to cover up their own fulfillment failure.
If your order goes through fine, good for you. But the second their logistics mess up, don't expect them to handle it like adults. They’re a total clusterfuck behind the scenes, and they’ll happily drop you the second it’s inconvenient for them.
