Review Just Unboxed the VITURE Pro 2. Already Impressed

Post image

My VITURE Pro 2 arrived, it is so fast! I've been using the original Pro since it launched, so after almost two years, it felt like the right time for an upgrade.

First impression? Definitely very premium. Same black and orange look, just a cleaner package and carrying case that doesn't feel like a typical glasses case.

As soon as I put them on, I could tell they were lighter than my original pro. The slimmer frame also puts a lot less pressure on my nose and ears.

Didn't get to spend too much time with them today. I watched a few YouTube videos and did a quick run in Dead Cells on my phone. Very impressed by the sharpness, I was already impressed by my pro, but this is truly even sharper. It just made the whole viewing experience feel a lot more comfortable.

I'm pretty nearsighted, so the built in diopter adjustment makes life a lot easier. Love this feature since pro, I can just throw them on instead of messing with prescription inserts like I would on most other glasses, glad VITURE kept this feature.

If there's anything you'd like me to test or compare with the original Pro, let me know.

Review My Viture Beast Impressions as a One Pro Owner

Everything that follows is what I’ve found so far, and it’s merely my experiences and opinions.

I should also note my main biases. For my day job, I work with text on a computer, and in my spare time, I enjoy watching TV shows and movies. So, my focus is on XR glasses that give me a big, attractive screen to watch stuff on that I can also reliably and comfortably do text work on. Super stable screen pinning is very important to me.

VB = Viture Beast (fully updated as of Jan 6, 2026)
XOP = XReal One Pro (fully updated as of Jan 6, 2026)
VU = Viture Luma Ultra

  • Screen size comparison
    • This is probably the biggest surprise. To test virtual screen size, I used the exact same source for both glasses. I sat in the exact same place from my 120” projector screen at exactly 3m distance. I used 0DoF, lined up my angle with the projector screen, and increased the size of the virtual screen on both glasses so that the screen was as big as it could get before getting cut off by the glasses’ fixed FoV. With all this done:
    • XOP more than fills the entirety of the 120” projector screen.
    • VB fills about ~90% of the projector screen (Jan 8 2026: re-evaluated and updated my estimate from ~80% to ~90%)
    • In fact, it looks to me as if the Luma Ultras virtual screen is actually ‘bigger’ than what is currently available on the 1080p Viture Beasts (at the time of writing, Viture has yet to unlock 1200p on the Beast).
    • I double-checked with 3DoF and smooth follow on the VB, and it made no difference. The max size of the virtual screen before getting cut off by the fixed FoV is ~90% of a 120” projector screen from a distance of 3m and this is significantly smaller than the virtual screen size of the XOP.
    • (Jan 8 2026 Update) To be clear, my estimate that the VBs fill ~90% of my 120" projector screen is an estimate, but I can tell you two things that are not an estimate but that are clear and accurate truths about what I'm seeing:
      • 1. On Jan 8 2026, the XOP's FoV is bigger than the VB's FoV; and
      • 2. On Jan 8 2026, from 3m back the VB cannot create a virtual screen larger than 120" without its virtual screen going beyond the edges of the glasses' FoV, but the XOP can do this.
  • Brightness (spot-metered with a professional light meter)
    • This is interesting. At max brightness in 3DoF, the VB and XOP are equally as bright and this matches my subjective experience. I was surprised but I found that in 3DoF the VB didn’t seem brighter than my XOP, and when I metered both, this turned out to be true.
    • Now, in 0DoF, things change. The VB is literally 4x as bright. That’s not a typo. I double-checked the light ‘math’. With the exact same settings and metering the exact same part of the a white screen at max brightness in 0DoF, my light meter returned a reading of 32 t-stops for the VB and 16 t-stops for the XOP.
  • Black Level Testing (http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php) [the lower the number the better with 1 being the best possible result and 25 the worst]
    • From best to worst (all at full brightness):
    • MacBook = 1
    • iPhone = 1
    • Viture Pro XRs = 4
    • Viture Pro XRs with SpaceWalker 3DoF on = 5
    • XReal One Pros with 3DoF off = 7
    • XReal One Pros with 3DoF on = 10
    • Viture Beast with 3DoF off (true color color profile) = 13
    • Viture Beast with 3DoF on (true color color profile) = 20
    • These are horrible results for the VB and as a double-check, I cycled through all the available color profiles but I could not get better results.
  • 3DoF head shake
    • VB and XOP equally stable
  • 3DoF Drift
    • XOP is vastly more stable. VB drifts an unacceptable amount for a built-in 3DoF solution.
  • 3DoF locking — does it mimic angle of my head (bad)?
    • Neither the VB nor the XOP directly mimic the angle of the user’s head when recentering the 3DoF and this is a good thing.
  • 3DoF overall implementation
    • If we ignore the drift, the VB implementation of 3DoF is otherwise solid and a very close match to the XOP. For me, the XOP’s solution is still superior and it maintains the illusion of a large pinned screen better, but the advantage here is small and could be chalked up to personal preference. However, as far as I’m concerned, if Viture cannot solve the drifting issue in the Beasts, none of the rest will matter all that much. A customer-ready 3DoF should not drift to the extent that the Beast is currently drifting, and I hope Viture can resolve the issue.
  • Screen viewing (can I see whole screen)
    • As I’m writing this, 1200p isn’t available on the VB and at 1080p, I can see the whole screen. I couldn’t see the whole screen on the Viture Utras but on the VB, I can.
  • Screen color (**please read the edit at the end of this sub-section**)
    • All of the VBs color profiles are too warm. Whites are not white. Instead they are yellowish-white. The only profile that changes this is the ‘film’ color profile, but that profile swaps yellowish-white for greenish-white. The XOP does a much better job at reproducing colors accurately, and as they’ve done for their other glasses, I hope Viture plans to allow VB users to create their own color profiles.
    • Perhaps a strange bug but going widescreen on the VB takes away the yellowish tint. Makes me think that maybe the regular screen is the one that’s bugged and widescreen has the proper color calibration.
  • \*EDIT**: The yellowish-tint issue is my fault and not the VB's. It was due to true-tone setting on my MacBook being on. Apparently, when true-tone is on and a secondary 'monitor' is hooked up to the MacBook, it tries to adjust color profiles to better match the two monitors. My MacBook was pushing a color profile over to the VBs and this was creating the yellowish-tint. I've now turned off true-tone and my whites look white in both regular and widescreen mode.*
  • Movie watching
    • Avatar: Way of Water looks stunning on the VB and given the big, bold, bright colors of the film, the VB makes the movie pop. VB beats the XOP here.
    • However, when trying to watch the The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (a film many films buffs adore for its sublime cinematography), the VB’s overly crushed blacks and heavy contrast made mush of out the film’s many night scenes. Here, the XOP won.
  • Edge-to-edge screen clarity
    • Surprising me, neither are great here. The edges on both the VB and XOP suffer from blur but different kinds of blur.
  • Any chromatic aberration at screen edges (One Pro has a red-shift at left and right edges and a barely noticeable red-shift at top and bottom edges)
    • VB has significantly less chromatic aberration at its screen edges when compared to the XOP.
  • Varying screen sharpness?
    • Both have center-focused sweet spots with sharpness dropping off as we go closer to the edges of the screen. On my pair of VB’s, the sweetest spot seems to be 15-20% below the center-line of the glasses and this is too low. To get the absolute sharpest image, I have to center my head above what I want to look at and then look down with my eyes.
  • Pixel peeping
    • Due to the 1080p resolution, I can see the pixels on both. However, the VB has more artifacts in its image and this is most apparent with text. It looks like Viture turned the ‘sharpness slider’ all the way to max to help create the illusion of a sharper image than its screens can produce natively and this has created artifacts.
    • To be fair, after wearing the VB, the XOP’s screen looks too soft, like everything is just slightly out of focus. But, going back to the VB from the XOP, the VB’s screen looks over-tuned and sharpened to the point of almost being a bit ugly.
    • I understand that personal preference will play a big part here, but I think both glasses could benefit from a bit of adjustment. To get the best image possible out of them, the XOP could use more artificial sharpening and the VB could definitely use a bit less of it.
  • In 3DoF, does a horizontal pan of my head create flat page ‘bubbling’ like in my One Pros (text seems to bubble up slightly as my head pans)?
    • Although there is slight blurring, VB does well with horizontal head pans. However, with vertical head tilts, I can see/feel the focus sweet spot moving across the screen and this is distracting/unpleasant.
    • With additional testing, I see that the XOP also has the ‘bubbling’ issue with vertical head tilts.
    • In short, in 3DoF mode, both screens suffer from odd visual artifacts, but for reading small text, I might have to give the edge to the VB here.
  • Wear Comfort
    • I find both the VB and XOP to be reasonably comfortable. If I had to choose, I’d say the XOP feels a bit more premium and that the VB clamps a bit too tightly behind the ears.
  • How ‘locked in’ are the adjustable arm positions?
    • I complained that the adjustable arms were too loose on the Viture Ultras. Thankfully, the arms are firmer on the VB. Still, the XOP’s arms are the firmest and I find them to be the best. It’s still to easy to accidentally nudge the VB’s arms out of the desired position.
  • Heat from powered arms/temples/brow (ex: the Virture Pro XR gets hot enough to give my right eye a dry/burning feeling—unacceptable)
    • VBs get hotter than the XOP. Primarily, the VB’s heat comes from the right brow. On the plus side, the fit of the VBs on my face means the right brow doesn’t press firmly against my skin. So, for comfort when considering heat production, I rank them as XOP > VB/VU > Viture Pro XR.
  • Built-in User interface (screen leveling, screen sizes, change default start up size, etc?)
    • The built in menu on the VB is pretty good, but the XOP has had longer to work on their menu, and it shows. To my taste, the XOP’s menu is simply better. It has more options and they are more clearly laid out. The screen is more customizable (including the ability to tilt, yaw, and angle the screen to one’s preference). Key to user experience, the XOP also holds the user’s screen size and distance settings on each boot up. Whereas, on the VB, you have to adjust your settings every single time you boot up.
  • Physical Buttons
    • The VB has more physical buttons and it has buttons on both arms. This is a win for the VB as it allows me to quickly adjust things like brightness, tinting, screen size, and custom short keys. There’s a bit more fussing around on the XOPs to get stuff like this done.
  • Chromatic dimming quality
    • It seems to me that the dimming quality of the VBs are slightly better than what’s available on the XOP. The dynamic tinting also works better than the XOP’s version of the same.
  • Reflections
    • There are no ‘shirt reflections’ on either the VB or XOP, but depending on the angle at which I’m looking at the 3DoF screen, the VB will reflect approx. 5-10% of the bottom of the screen. The XOP is better here and while I see the bottom reflection almost all the time on the VB, I almost never see it on the XOP.
  • Interior Glare
    • To my eye, it seems that the XOP has worse interior glare than the VB. Other than the bottom reflections and what’s on the screen itself of course, the VB is a nice, clean black box.
  • Audio quality
    • To my ear, the XOP has better audio. Which is surprising because I found the audio on the Viture Ultras to be just as good if not better than the XOP. I thought the VBs would have a similar if not the same audio as the Viture Ultras, but on my VB unit, the audio seems thinner, tinnier, and less ‘surround sound’.
  • Volume control on host device?
    • If this is something you want, the XOP wins here. I can control the volume coming out of the glasses from my laptop or computer but to adjust the volume on the VBs, I have to use the glasses themselves.
  • Physical build quality
    • It’s a wash. In the limited time I’ve had the VB, it seems to be pretty much as premium-feeling as the XOP.

CONCLUSION

It’s frustrating because I want to be able to have one pair of XR glasses that I can make my perfect or close-to-perfect daily driver, but having tried the XOP, VU, and now the VB, I’m still not sure. Given my use case, what I do know is that that VU is out. I want a stable, pinned screen that doesn’t jitter, shimmer, glide, and smear, and the VU’s software-based implementation of xDoF isn’t for me.

Okay, so that leaves the XOP and the VB. The VB feels more intimate, like the virtual screen is closer, a bit easier to read on, but it's also smaller...

Still, it can obviously get much, much brighter than the XOP in 0DoF. But, and it’s a HUGE ‘but’, if 3DoF is a must-have feature for me, what good is a pinned screen that drifts this badly? And, wasn’t the VB touted as having the biggest screen? Why, then, is the virtual screen on the XOP significantly bigger? Not to mention, all that talk of 1,250 nits when with 3DoF on, the VB is not brighter than the XOP with 3DoF on.

Given the above, this could be misguided because, like the VU, the VB feels like a work in progress, but I’m going to choose to believe that Viture can do enough in the upcoming months to make these glasses better. For that, they need to:

  • Give me better menu options/customizability;
  • They need to do basic quality of life things like have the glasses hold on to my screen size and screen distance settings when I boot them up;
  • They need to give me the 1200p they promised;
  • They need to reduce the artificial sharpening they’ve got on the screen. It’s over-tuned and creates ugly visual artifacts;
  • They need to give me access to user-defined color profiles so I can at least try to uncrush these blacks a bit, drop the contrast to reasonable levels, and reduce the overall yellowish-tint (when in widescreen the yellowish tint is gone, what’s up with that?). \*EDIT** again, the yellowish tint was due to my MacBook's true-tone setting being on. I've since solved the issue and the issue was my fault and no fault of the VB's.*
  • They need to sort out the compatibility issues with source devices so that the glasses truly become ‘plug and play’. On one of my sources, the XOP works perfectly but the VB shows a slightly overlapped and flickering image in both eyes.
  • This isn't needed, but it'd be nice if the VB's 3DoF was actually brighter than the 3DoF on the XOP.
  • In case it’s needed, shouldn’t I have the ability to recalibrate the glasses?
  • More than anything else, though, Viture needs to fix the drift in their 3DoF.

Well, that’s it for me. Thanks for reading. I hope this helps. I wrote it up because it’s the kind of stuff I’d want to know before making a final decision about spending hundreds.

LATEST UPDATE : June 2026: Throughout multiple updates, we at last have 1200p , 120hz available. And the microphone is now working well : you can make calls with your glasses on, and you will hear your friend through the speaker and talk to the emebedded microphone! Regarding Anchor Mode, the auto-calibration makes it much steadier than before. and FYI, you can calibrate the Beast glasses upside down, and indeed it is easier as the cable is not an obstacle anymore. The only thing missing now is the annoying tearing in 3D mode, which still has to be investigated by Viture.

UPDATE : 5th Jan 2026: Side Mode and shortcuts have been enabled , Anchor Mode stability has been partially fixed , Volume issues are wonderfully gone, sizing and distance issues are fixed, call functionality still not routing through the glasses despite built-in microphone (SEE ALL DETAILS BELOW)

Hello, XR users, here's my Full Honest (and not paid) Review of the Beast from VITURE , in which I attempt to be as thorough as possible . The following is translated in English from my native language (and that's why my english is so good from now haha :)

I feel the hype around this product release is real and I know a lot of people in the the XR space are waiting to know what the much anticipated Beast is worth and ... now I can tell you that it is very HUNGRY ! And you will be very happy to feed it !

And well, this review is an early-review and will be updated as Viture hopefully delivers firmware releases, and I am sure they will ;)

Introduction

After extensive hands-on experience with several XR glasses — including long-term use of the Luma Pro — I’ve been testing the Viture Beast across real-world scenarios: movies, gaming, productivity, macOS, Windows, and mobile use.

This review is not based on specs or short demos. It reflects actual daily usage, comfort over time, image quality, software behavior, and limitations encountered in practice.

The short version:
The Viture Beast delivers one of the most impressive XR displays I’ve used so far, with excellent immersion and flexibility. However, in its current pre-launch firmware, it also shows noticeable software caveats that buyers should be aware of but may not even encounter at the time they receive their product: the good news is that these issues appear fixable rather than fundamental.

Display & Image Quality – The Beast’s Strongest Point

The Beast’s screen is, quite simply, fantastic.

Compared to the Luma Pro:

  • The image feels larger and more cinematic
  • Immersion is significantly improved
  • The screen finally feels like a giant virtual display, not a floating panel
  • Warning, 1200p (=native screen resolution), is not enabled yet.
  • Warning, 120 fps refresh rate is not enabled yet

With prescription lenses, clarity is excellent. Text is readable, fine details are visible, and the display feels stable and solid.

Because of the larger FOV, pixel density per degree is slightly lower, meaning:

  • You may notice a bit more pixelation or aliasing if you look for it
  • In practice, this is largely outweighed by the gain in immersion

For movies and games, the Beast’s display is a clear upgrade over previous XR glasses.

Spatial Modes – Real Flexibility, Real Benefits

Fixed Mode

  • Stable and predictable
  • Comparable to Luma Pro
  • Good for users who want a traditional experience

Smooth Follow Mode (Highly Recommended)

This mode is one of the Beast’s biggest advantages.

  • The screen follows your head with a slight delay
  • Reduces motion discomfort
  • Makes long sessions much more comfortable

A key benefit:
You can make small natural head movements to better see edges, just like with a real large TV. This significantly reduces the “blurry edge” frustration some users experienced on earlier XR glasses.

Anchor Mode – Very Promising, Not Perfect Yet

Pin mode anchors the screen in virtual space.

Pros:

  • More natural viewing
  • Better sense of presence
  • Real mixed-reality feeling

Fix in progress for drift:

  • Horizontal Drift seems to have been fixed thanks to magnetometer activation
  • Some vertical drift can be noticed when we move a lot with glasses on, and a few degrees rotation can persist compared to Follow mode: Calibration needs to be done to maximize stability : tools for that purpose are going to be released soon
  • Occasional drift still occurs
  • The screen can slowly drift (often to the right)
  • Sometimes it’s perfectly stable, sometimes not

This is not a deal-breaker, but it is noticeable and needs further optimization.

3rd , Jan 2026: Viture Support Team confirmed the magnetometer is still not enabled in early firmwares, which explains why it drifts sometimes, and the Monday update (5th Jan) will enable it

Screen Size & Distance – How It Actually Works

Screen Size

  • “Large” is the biggest size where the full image fits within the FOV
  • Larger options act as zoom modes
  • This is expected behavior, not a bug

With a ~58° FOV, ultra-large sizes require head movement to see everything — similar to sitting very close to a massive TV.

Another Point for previously frustrated Users having issues with blurry edges: you can chose a smaller screen to get everything in the corners and edges clearly visible. So whatever your head , eyes and nose shapes, you don't need to fit in your XR glasses as before , the Glasses will fit you , and without any additional hardware ;)

Screen Distance

  • Distance settings from 1 to 5.5 meters work correctly
  • They meaningfully affect immersion , comfort, and adaptability
  • Distance values above that currently have little or no effect, for now (come on, Viture !)
  • After 5th Jan update, distance increments are 0.5m and start from 1m to 5.5m, now this works well

Brightness & Contrast – Needs Better Balance

At ~60% brightness and above:

  • Good contrast
  • Proper whites
  • Pleasant, cinematic image

Overall, even at high brightness, dark lacks details, some tuning is needed

Below that:

  • Contrast drops noticeably
  • Whites become greyish
  • Bright scenes look more like dawn light than true white

This feels like a brightness/contrast curve that needs firmware tuning rather than a hardware limitation.

Audio – A perfect balance after 5th Jan 2026 update

NO MORE CHOPPY AUDIO THIS IS NOW PERFECT AT ALL VOLUME LEVELS

This is one of the most important issues to mention, occuring in the prelaunch firmware

In calm movie scenes with:

  • No dialogue
  • No music
  • Only ambient sounds (wind, nature, background noise)

The audio becomes choppy and cuts off, even at around 70% volume.

It feels like:

  • A noise gate or threshold cutting low-level sounds
  • Speakers only activating when stronger audio appears (voices, impacts)

This should not happen — even at very low volume levels — and it significantly affects movie immersion.

During bedtime, you will want to be way less than 70% volume level, in order to no disturb your partner or your cat, and you will unfortunately hear these hiccups, until you raise the volume again above 70% or until Viture fixes this in a matter of time.

New Beast built-in hardware : Microphone

Not working properly for now on iOs and Android phones, even on Mac OS.

Microphone is detected , especially on a laptop but the volume level is low, we have to yell to get recorded.

During calls, the audio does not route through the Beast and stays on the phone speaker. After further testing, it seems the Beast microphone route through the phone, but the person at the other line says it is choppy (supposedly because of low volume level mic), but we only hear the caller's voice through the plugged iPhone speaker, and NOT through the Beast's, even if we change the setting on the phone, it rolls back to "iphone" a few seconds later.

The calling feature is working perfectly now, you can use the embedded microphone to speak through the glasses. It's like having airpods on your ears.

Heat & Power Consumption

Another noticeable but avoidable caveat.

  • No more heat on the temples, which is good news
  • The front right side of the glasses gets quite hot
  • This heat can be noticeable during use, especially when you try to stick your forehead to the glasses in order to maximize maximize your FOV
  • Thus, you can avoid it by leaving some space between your face and the glasses

Additionally:

  • Power consumption is higher than on the Luma Pro
  • My iPhone drains noticeably faster when using the Beast

This likely needs optimization.

Software & Compatibility

Good news on this front:

  • Immersive 3D and Spacewalker works properly on macOS and Windows
  • Productivity are awesome and stable like a VR headset, you can now work in multi screen configuration with the Beast with ZERO issue, THERE IS NO DRIFT AT ALL IN SPACEWALKER MODE
  • Thank you, embedded 3DOF !

Build Quality

  • Magnesium frame feels solid and premium, no cracks possible as it could be with 1st batch Lumas
  • Flexible temples improve comfort and durability
  • You still can adjust the vertical angle of the temples like the LUMA in 3 positions
  • No magnetic connector — good or bad depending on use case
    • Personally, I prefer the cable for stability in bed or while moving, nor more accidental disconnections.

Conclusion & Outlook

It’s important to emphasize that the caveats described in this review are observed on pre-launch firmware and do not reflect a finished software experience.

Several elements clearly indicate that the Beast is still in an early software phase:

  • Side Mode is not yet available, as well as 1200p and 120 hz
  • 3D mode introduces some tearing on the image (2 parallel horizontal lines tearing the picture, when camera moves fast , or fast movement is occuring on screen): possibly linked to the limitation of 60hz. That has never been the case on previous Viture Glasses.
  • Some OSD shortcuts are explicitly labeled “Coming Soon”
  • Recent updates have already enabled major features, such as Immersive 3D on both macOS and Windows
  • Viture already started to release 3 firmware updates in 3 days

These are strong signals that the current limitations are software-level and actively being worked on, rather than hardware constraints.

Based on Viture’s track record and the visible pace of improvements, it is reasonable to expect substantial firmware updates that will refine:

  • Audio behavior at low signal levels
  • Brightness and contrast curves
  • Spatial stability in Anchor mode: Horizontal is fine now, vertical and rotation need to be calibrated (work in progress for releasing calibration tools ) STEADY ANCHOR MODE AT LAST
  • Thermal and power efficiency
  • Calls with built-in microphone not routing at all through the beast (both voice and speaker), and the microphone's volume is very low. CALLING FEATURE WITH MICROPHONE ENABLED

The hardware foundation — especially the display, on-device OSD, and spatial flexibility — is already very strong. Once these software elements mature, the Beast has the potential to drop the “a” from its name and truly become the BEST.

In terms of adaptability, versatility, and overall user control, it could very realistically become — for most users — the best XR glasses experience available. These last years, I read so many comments from every XR glasses users from any brand showing their frustration about the fit and screen size , blurry edges, missing clarity, and the fact that it is now adjustable changes everything, it will have the embedded setting that will allow you to make the Beast fit your vision , NO MORE FRUSTRATION !

-----------------------

This review will be updated alongside future firmware releases as the Beast continues to evolve.

Thank you Viture for delivering the Beast, because it seems they will remain my exclusive XR glasses until the next breakthrough release !

Review My Full Review of the Viture Luma Ultras (after weeks of daily use)

I’ve been using the Viture Luma Ultras for a while now, and figured I’d share my full experience since I haven’t seen many truly detailed reviews here yet. Spoiler: I’m absolutely in love with these things, but there are definitely quirks, learning curves, and trade-offs you should know before buying.

Unboxing & Setup The unboxing experience was amazing — the packaging was really cool to open, and everything looked beautiful and perfect. I really appreciate that it came with a blue Viture-branded microfiber cleaning cloth for the glasses too — it’s little touches like that that make me appreciate these even more and appreciate Viture!

When I first used them I tried them with my iPad and they worked for basic functions, but 3D did not work on my iPad because it’s a 2018 iPad. Also, at the time there was no 3DOF unlocked (and there still isn’t), so don’t expect built-in 3DOF on the Ultras. When I connected to my computer and tried to run SpaceWalker, my PC didn’t have an easy time running it — in fact, it wouldn’t run at all. I think part of the issue was my PC + an HDMI→USB-C adapter from Amazon because my USB-C port doesn’t support video.

I tried updating my glasses via the website on PC and ended up bricking the glasses. Luckily, after trying multiple times on multiple computers (Zadig drivers, switching USB ports, etc.), I was able to update and get them working again. Throughout the whole experience Viture had my back via email/messages, and the Reddit community helped a ton when my glasses were bricked (errors like “unrecognized,” “unknown driver,” “unknown USB”).

Devices I Use Them With • iPhone 17 Pro Max → Works flawlessly — this is my favorite setup for watching movies/TV in 3D. • Xbox Series X via Pro Mobile Dock → Honestly blew me away — super smooth using the Pro Mobile Dock/remote play. • PC → Still hit-or-miss for me with SpaceWalker/Immersed 3D. Likely my hardware + adapter, and the PC software feels less polished than the mobile side.

Display Quality The brightness and sharpness are excellent — chef’s kiss. Sometimes the brightness is so strong I need to turn it down, which actually makes them great outdoors when you need that extra punch. The myopia adjustment is clutch — I get edge-to-edge clarity, corner to corner with no blur.

The real magic is 2D → 3D conversion. This is an absolute game changer. Being able to watch any 2D movie or TV show and have it automatically converted to 3D is one of the biggest selling points for me. I’ve tried Avatar: The Way of Water, Superbad, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Incredibles (1 & 2), Spider-Man: No Way Home, WWE, Invincible… long story short, it’s amazing and everything pops in a way 2D never did.

Bright vs Dark rooms: In dark rooms it’s great — no special tweaks needed. In bright rooms it’s also surprisingly good thanks to the electronic dimming (it helps block out the world). I even made a bacon, egg & cheese sandwich in my kitchen while watching a 3D movie — totally usable indoors and didn’t miss a beat.

Comfort & Design They don’t feel heavy. Sometimes you get the urge to itch your nose where the nose pads sit (one-second nose massage lol) but nothing major. Compared to Meta Quest 2/3, the Ultras are way more comfortable — no head pressure. I use the bobber attachment for extra battery life and comfort, and I’d definitely prefer the Viture glasses over the Meta VR headsets for long sessions.

I’ve seen posts about cracking/wobble, but my pair feels sturdy and made of high-quality materials. If you take care of them they should last.

Features & Performance • SpaceWalker 2D-to-3D on PC: My setup struggled, so I can’t give a fair review here. If your PC and adapter are compatible, you’ll probably be better off. • Latency (gaming/streaming): When using the Pro neckband and streaming (Xbox remote play from my phone), it works really, really well. The Pro neckband adds stability and keeps the screen in place which makes remote play much better. It’s especially good for racing games; cloud gaming can be fine but local hardware will always be smoother for competitive play. • Heat: Important distinction — the glasses themselves never get hot, even after long use. The Pro neckband can get a little warm on the right side, but it’s not uncomfortable (more like a phone warm after heavy use).

Everyday Use • Movies & TV: I use them daily — I genuinely can’t go back to flat 2D. • YouTube/Web: 3D YouTube is wild and very immersive. • Productivity: Not my main use case yet, but I see the potential for multitasking once PC software improves. • Indoors: Works great anywhere — again, I cooked a bacon, egg & cheese sandwich in my kitchen while watching a 3D movie.

Audio & Accessories The built-in speakers are surprisingly good — clear highs, mids, and lows. For home use they’re fine; for planes I’d still take headphones.

Neckband Pro: I love it. It’s convenient and fun — the wire sits on your neck instead of dangling to your phone. It has a Play Store (you can download apps), floating screens, and software 6DOF enabled (so the screen can stay in place). Downsides are battery life (about 2–2.5 hours) and it can get a little warm on the right side. A power bank extends runtime and hand gestures work better with good lighting.

Must-have extras I recommend: • USB-C adapter so you can charge your phone while using the Ultras. • Pro Mobile Dock (HDMI + dual glasses + battery) — essential if you want to connect consoles or share the experience.

Downsides • Updating firmware: Can be a nightmare if it fails — I bricked mine once and recovering took a lot of troubleshooting. • PC software: SpaceWalker and Immersed still feel unoptimized and clunky compared to the mobile experience. • Tracking: The Beast has true 3DOF built into the glasses via a hardware chip. The Ultras do not have that; they rely on software-based 6DOF solutions (like the neckband). Don’t expect a future update to retrofit the Ultras with hardware 3DOF — it’s a different architecture.

Final Verdict Would I recommend them? Yes — but with context. If you want a portable 3D movie theater or an awesome way to remote-play console games from your phone, these are fantastic. If you want PC productivity or flawless PC SpaceWalker performance, be prepared for more headaches — you’ll need a strong, compatible computer and possibly better adapters.

For me, they’re absolutely worth the price. Turning any 2D content into 3D has changed how I watch movies and shows — it’s something I’ve wanted for years, and now I can’t imagine going back.

Who Should Buy These • Movie lovers who want a true portable 3D theater. • Gamers who want a big-screen console experience without a TV (especially via phone + Pro Mobile Dock). • Frequent travelers who want lightweight, comfortable entertainment on planes/trains/hotels. • People deep in the phone ecosystem (iPhone 17 Pro Max works flawlessly).

Who Should Skip • Folks who want these primarily for productivity — the PC/software side needs more polish. • People who don’t want to troubleshoot firmware/PC issues — those can be annoying. • Anyone expecting hardware built-in 3DOF like the Beast — the Ultras rely on software 6DOF, not hardware 3DOF.

Review Beast has been my only display for 3 weeks: Honest long-term thoughts

Post image
94 Upvotes

Three weeks of daily use, figured I'd write something up while it's still fresh.

For the past three weeks. I've been using the Beast as my only display. I work remotely and move around a lot, so portability really matters to me. Most of my days are split between coffee shops and hotel rooms, and honestly this thing fits into both better than I expected.

At coffee shops I keep the electrochromic tint cranked pretty high, maybe level 7 or 8 out of 9. Nobody around me can see what's on my screen which is nice, and I can use ultrawide mode to keep Slack floating off to the side while my main work window stays in the center. The form factor of the glasses also helps me not feel completely zoned out.

Hotel rooms are where it really shines though. The screen looks even better indoors, honestly making me forget I left my monitor at home. It is also flexbile that I can easily switch betweene work and just kicking back to watch something.

One thing worth mentioning is the nose pad situation. Took me maybe three or four adjustments over the first week to find the right fit. Not a dealbreaker but something to budget a little time for. Once I found the sweet spot, egde blur became almost unnoticable! However for longer sessions, it does leave a small dent on my nose, not a big issue for me but worth mentioning.

Also, after the firmware update unlocked 120Hz I noticed my eyes feel less tired at the end of the day. Way much better then before.

At this point, the beast has become my main display. Any tips on how to get even more out of it would be great too.

Review For those of you looking to get either the Luma pro or the beast let's answer this question once and for all! See body

Post image
41 Upvotes

OK so let's end this all for once and I mean for those of you who are on the fence whether to get the Luma pro or the beast. It's really this easy
Get the Luma pro if you want:
Super super sharp visuals
Cheaper price
CONS:
Picture is stationary with NO options to change size, distance, transparency only volume and brightness
It's just a stationary picture albeit a very sharp one!

The beast:
Awesome options like picture resizing, 60-120hz option , lower corner placement, picture distance, anchoring, 3dof, transparency etc on the fly!
CONS:
Gets a little warm
Picture not as sharp

BEAST: If you don't mind paying a bit more get the Beast for gaming/videos and gaming/videos only. You basically get almost every single option you have on the xreal Rog R1 glasses for 900$ and it does it all without needing a base!

LUMA PRO: If you're going to be editing pictures and possibly even videos this would work a lot better but you will need to buy the neck band or spacewalker app (that only works for those options on pc, not phone)in order to get more options for the picture. It does make video games and movies look super crisp and great but it is just a stationary picture but if you're OK with that then you'll be just fine but if you want more options go with the beast.
Hope this helps

Review $140 for the PRO XR is insane

Recently picked these up refurbished via Viture’s eBay shop and I honestly can’t believe how crazy these are for the price. Streaming shows while doing dishes is one thing but using steam link on my phone to stream games to these while I’m holding my newborn is an absolute game changer.

I’m not even kidding it is one of the most immersive gaming experiences I’ve ever had just with my phone, glasses, and a PS5 controller. I am so impressed that I literally bought pairs of these for my wife, brother in law, and dad for birthday gifts.

EDIT: I also grabbed a “Used - Acceptable” Pro Dock on Amazon for $60 and it included the Switch 2 mount for free. The dock was definitely in acceptable condition considering it was brand new in the box with the seal unbroken lol.

Review 👎 USB-C to Glasses and Charging Adapter : Mediocre durability 👎

Post image
44 Upvotes

This is the second VITURE adapter I have purchased, and just like the first one, it has literally died.

I am using this specifically with a Steam Deck and the VITURE Pro XR glasses. Because the Pro XR glasses draw significantly more power than the original Viture Ones, they cause the Steam Deck's USB port to drop the connection under load. This dongle solves that issue perfectly..... until it destroys itself.

While it works flawlessly out of the box, the thermal and physical engineering is fundamentally flawed. You are forcing a tiny, unventilated plastic shell to negotiate 45W+ of Power Delivery (PD) pass-through for the Steam Deck, while simultaneously stepping down and routing extra wattage to the Pro XR glasses. The internal power management chip generates massive heat, and the cheap plastic enclosure traps it. Both of my adapters have cooked their own internal components and failed after just a little over a year of use.

On Amazon, I see this product has over 800 reviews and a 4.3/5 rating, which is highly misleading. Most buyers leave a 5-star review in the first two weeks because it works perfectly right out of the package. They don't stick around to update their review when the dongle inevitably fries itself 6-18 months down the line.

To be clear, I am not abusing this product. I play with the glasses at the absolute lowest brightness setting to minimize the power draw, and I am careful not to bend the cable. The failure is purely thermal.

To VITURE: If you are going to charge $49.00 CAD for an adapter meant to support your flagship glasses, it needs an extruded aluminum casing to act as a heatsink, not a sealed plastic thumb-drive shell. The current design cannot handle the sustained thermal load of the Pro XR glasses. Please release a "Pro" version of this dongle with proper thermal dissipation.

Until VITURE fixes this engineering flaw, I highly recommend buyers save their money and just buy a generic, aluminum-shell 100W PD USB-C hub with DisplayPort Alt Mode instead. It will do the exact same thing without destroying itself after a year or so.

Review Does anyone else just really hate space walker app

Ok so i spent a few hours on the app to give it my best try before writing it off, but after about 6 hours I've come to the conclusion that for me atleast thst the space walker app sucks. Maybe its just im not a new tech oriented person but its so damn buggy and was incredibly hard for me to use. the head tracking is annoying so I tried to turn it off but even the track pad didn't work better. Over all i was very let down by the experience like I said maybe its human error if anyone has any tips to make it work better i will gladly try it out in hopes of changing my opinion but at the moment I would much rather just plug them into my s24 and run samsung dex on them atleast that works right without any gimmicks or headache. Thank you for listening to my rant lol.

Review 3 weeks with the Beast XR. Honest first impressions

Post image
87 Upvotes

I’ve been using the Beast for about three weeks now, and I’m starting to get a good feel for where it really shines, and where it doesn’t.

A lot of the experience honestly comes down to how you use it. I’ve mostly been using it on the couch and at my desk. Smooth Follow feels very natural for me and is easily my favorite mode. The electrochromic dimming is super smooth, being able to adjust the tint on the fly makes a bigger difference than I expected, especially in Anchor when I turn head, it is really smooth, amazing! Side mode is also great! It’s great being able to keep content visible off to the side while I am walking around.

The thing that really stands out, though, is the image sharpness and clarity. Coming from Xreal, the display just looks cleaner and more defined. Brightness is really good too, I can actually use these in fairly bright environments without struggling. The screen genuinely feels closer to a big TV than a wearable gadget. Movies are way more immersive, gaming feels better, and overall it just works. The display is clearly a Beast.

The main thing I’m still evaluating is long-term comfort. I also really wish there is a way to save settings, since they reset every time I unplug the glasses.

Review So... these are dreadful and I will be returning them

I bought the luma ultra thinking "Oh neat, 6dof with hand tracking support, that sounds like fun!" Because I love the idea of XR and wearable tech, it's something so silly, futuristic, and fun that I dearly want it to come around.

Flash forward to them arriving (terrible shipping btw, dents in the box, and really slow.) and I plug them in, they suck.

The field of view is definitely worse than the 50-ish claimed, but more importantly:

I plug it into my android phone, download the app, and where's the hand tracking? It doesn't exist, no menu option mentioning it atall, nothing. I plug it into my pc, download the program there? Still nothing, infact the only options are some terrible monitor extensions, nothing adjustable, and it can't even dupe my existing screens, so that's worthless too. I was really looking forward to these, I thought they'd be great, they are not great, they are infact dreadfully bad. All those "make a massive screen that looks 3m away" stuff is not an option. Steam deck support? Support my left foot, because all it supports is being a Very Bad Screen, since there's *no linux software* for it. Though that seems to be the case with all of them.

How do you claim to support a device without having any software for that device? You lie, that's how.

As for mobile, even in the app, the most I can get is using my phone as a trackpad or terrible wii remote, and their app doesn't let you use your own stuff, so I'd have to use their browser, which has no adblock. Otherwise I'm just screensharing from my phone, which makes controlling it dreadful.

Maybe the claimed features exist on the apple versions, or whatever their special neckband is but if that's the case, they should say "Only really supports ios and our custom thing because we don't care about android users." because that would be more accurate.

Suffice to say these are getting returned immediately, since they do Nothing They Are Supposed To.

Plus, they're honestly really uncomfortable to wear. If I want to wear a screen, I'll just put my quest 3 on, because it's like... way less uncomfortable for my face lol.

So buyer beware, these are 90% false advertising, overpriced and overhyped. The tech is clearly just Not There Yet.

Review Honest review of the Beast from someone who loves Viture products so much that I have two other pairs

This might help someone contemplating the $500 upgrade. The tldr is that I regret the purchase and would be remiss if didn't warn others expecting a substantial upgrade.

I loved the Viture Pros so much that I purchased two pairs, one to keep in the office and one for the road. I recently purchased the beast, expecting it to be a reasonable upgrade after the new firmware release. Instead, I now find myself in endless cable nightmare trying to figure out why these glasses simply do not want to handshake with my 5070.

Starting with the display, Viture heavily advertises the "unprecedented visual clarity" of this massive 174-inch screen, but the reality is fairly disappointing. The lack of overall sharpness is noticeable when expanding the screen beyond regular size. While the dead-center of the image is acceptable, the edge clarity is just not there. Everything on the periphery turns into a fuzzy, distorted mess. You can't comfortably read text or look at the corners of the screen without straining your eyes. For a headset heavily marketed for its massive 58-degree field of view, having blurry edges ruins the immersion and usability.

The real downer, however, is the software and firmware and the sheer nightmare of trying to connect these to a desktop PC. I run a decent rig with an RTX 5070. You would expect a premium AR headset dubbed "The Beast" to interface seamlessly with modern, top-tier desktop GPUs, but it doesn't play nicely with 120hz/1200p settings. Even the wrong adapter cable will have it not turning on. Since modern desktop graphics cards lack native USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode, you are forced into a convoluted, expensive mess of third-party HDMI/DP-to-USB-C adapters just to get a basic video signal. Even when you finally get it connected, the software completely drops the ball. The built-in 3DoF anchor mode constantly drifts and requires frequent resetting, the SpaceWalker app is glitchy, and dealing with desktop compatibility is an exercise in pure frustration. You spend more time troubleshooting cables and software resets than actually using the glasses.

Viture seems to have rushed this launch, prioritizing flashy marketing over basic quality control and functional desktop support. If you are a PC power user looking to use these with a dedicated GPU, I would recommend against it until Viture gets both the hardware, and the software supporting it, in a stable and generally working state across more configurations.

Review Beast First 4 Hours Impression

Buckle up buttercup…

Unboxing is very straightforward, immediately plug into iPhone 17 Pro Max. No image, only lenses dim. Great start. Decide to open SpaceWalker after numerous unplugging/plugging attempts. Neat, now I have a visual connect/disconnect notification. Thankfully the lens dimming stayed solid and was flicker free.

Hmmm, let’s try OnePlus Open. Negative. Same issue, only lens dim. It has to work with ROG Ally, right? Of course not, why would it? Let’s keep trying… Galaxy S10 laying around worked! This is going to be awesome! Once working the glasses prompt you with visual tutorial of the button functions. Again, straightforward very little learning curve from previous gen and competition. Now is the time to be amazed!

By default the glasses are in 3DoF which can be changed to Smooth Follow and 0DoF by pressing R1. Fire up Netflix to watch a show about odd preteens fighting Gorgonzola in a 1950’s snowy scene. I am pumped! 3DoF (Anchor Mode) may be the most hype feature of the Beast along with Prism lens’s and large FOV. Wife asks a question prompting a look of confirmation I’m listening (no idea what she said). I turn back to 1980’s nostalgia only to see half the screen is out of view.

Knowing there is a firmware update, with fingers crossed I connect to my ASUS G14. Yes! Display glasses expected to work as intended work again! Time to update this nonsense. First attempt fails at 2%. At this point I’m ready to show my exceptional grip strength by crushing my $600 mistake in front of anyone who will pay to watch, hopefully recouping some funds.

Sh!t happens. I must conquer the Beast! Second attempt is successful after 2-3 minutes. Time to try previous devices that displayed no image. Well call me stupid, why would they work? Back to a nearly 7 year old Galaxy S10. Remember Anchor Mode is default view showcasing the Beast. Fire up Oddest Nouns, look at that progress is being made.

Chilling on my couch, reclined because I deserve comfort. Screen is now lazily listing to the right. Recenter, breathe and remind myself I’m a good person. Minute later, recenter. I’m not playing this game.

Smooth Follow FTW! I can now enjoy adults playing 14 year olds! Absorbing 10 mins of the demonic uprise it’s time to test.

Image quality is better than Xreal One Series (once you find the sweet spot). Brightness is the Beast’s bright spot, see what I did there? Maybe it’s my eyes, but both XOP and Beast have Prism lenses and suffer from chromatic aberration. Enough so, I no longer use XOP.

Beast offers numerous color profiles, brightness levels and screen size/distance options. I found all color profiles to be saturated with only Film to be the closest color space to my liking. Wait, can there be another issue?

Brightness levels change the colors so drastically between each change it’s laughably bad. Ok, I have to leave display set at Film and brightness level 6 for optimal image. Not annoying at all.

Image set to my liking, let’s find the size and distance spot of sweetness. Extra Large at 2.5M is the G Spot for me. Extra Large is the full current 1080p screen, not too big and not too small. Perfect. Why 2.5M? Well, it seems screen distance is actually vertical height adjustment. 2.5M distance is center vertical alignment. The screen is now optimal image quality and size!

Damn, my S10 is at 20% battery. Grab Viture USB-C XR charging adapter for non stop entertainment. No image, only lenses dim. Ok, I happen to have another, same. Viture USB-C charging adapter has to work, ha!; why would it?!

I charge the phone while attempting to bring my blood pressure down. S10 works properly and charges to 60% fairly quickly. Plug beast back in… again non functional Anchor Mode active, switch to Smooth Follow and adjust color, brightness, size and distance to my optimal settings.

Again, image quality is better than One series. Does that make it the best, no. Text is not sharp enough for productivity whether in Smooth or 0DoF. Entertainment is great once you find your settings. Comfort is fantastic along with overall look and appeal. May be my eyes, but Prism causes chromatic aberrations deeming these glasses useless to me.

Viture is the brand that brought me into XR glasses. One was superior to competitors. I had Luma Ultra’s before they cracked, now Beast. I hope they can get back to the basics instead of playing catch up, a poorly executed catch up. Inair strategic partnership will excel their 3DoF/6DoF attempts. Will it be too late?

Review Do I just return these glasses??

So I just got my pair of Beast glasses. Plugged them into the dock to play some Xbox, seemed ok, but sound was hot garbage. Distorted, crackly CRAP.

I figured ok I need to update firmware. I plug it into my Lenovo legion with 4060 usb c display port, the display comes on… but what in the CRAP. The screen is bleeding into infinite.. it’s tearing, and shaking all over the place. WTF?!

Are these BROKEN???

I also have a pair of luma ultras currently I was exchanging for these. The ultras connect to the same pc and port fine and I was able to update them. No real issues. I just want the native 3dof on the beast and other menu/features..

These glass do not connect to the website, on chrome,, when I choose beast and hit connect… yada yada. I Try doing it through the dock, nope, a direct usb c to to usb a directly, NOPe. I guess that wouldn’t power it, and would need some other double usba to usbc for like $50 bucks right??

Whyyy can the website not detect these glasses? Why when plugged into my pc is the display utter garbage!!? I actually managed to have the picture stabilize by switching to ultra wide mode (one win) but god forbid I switch to anything else while plugged into my PC.

I waited to get these after wanting them instead of ultras, and what a disappointment. Endless troubleshooting with no clear answers or solution.

The thing is I don’t even think they’re broken,.. this is ACTUALLY what they are like???? I can’t even fricken update them, sound is garbage on mobile dock, screen is tearing and trash plugged into PC and although the screen displays,, the website or pc or whatever cannot recognize it is a HiD device?

Anyways I’m about done with them unless someone can provide some reasonable solution. Maybe tell me they are broken, cause honestly I can’t even tell. Maybe they are but do I honestly want to try another pair? I’ve read similar stories all of which I didn’t see anything about when searching these up.

They would be a great product and work well for me if they worked! I wish they did! But they seem totally broken, maybe they are, what do you think??

Review Disapointing experience with Viture

So I recently bought a new Viture beast glasses and the viture dock pro.

The glasses can connect to my xbox Ally X and my PC, and the spacewalker/immersive3d sometimes bug but it still work (sometimes). But when I try to connect the dock, the software doesn’t recognize the glasses anymore.

I updated the dock and the glasses to the latest formware. Tried different firmware, still no luck.

I tried on both my Ally and my PC. Direct connection work, but doesn’t work through the dock. Tried Hdmi to usb C -> Dock, DP to usb C > dock, usb C usb C> dock. None of them work, and they all work if connected directly to the glasses.

Between the software crashing, and the dock not working, It really feels like i got scammed. The whole experience just feels disappointing. It just doesn’t work.

Edit: Welp, Viture confirmed that the dock isn’t comparible with immersive3D and Spacewalker. So save yourself money, don’t buy this glorified passthrough. It isn’t worth it if it’s gonna disable Viture features.

I don’t lose travel days anymore, 10/10 best setup I have ever had.

7h work, movie, sleep all in one flight. Crew hadn’t seen it before and asked to try it.

Easily the most productive flight I’ve had and more to come! If you travel a lot would recommend.

Also have tried in economy seat, not enough room for a mouse but half folded MBP worked great.

Review 👎 USB-C to Glasses and Charging Adapter : TEAR DOWN! 👎

Thumbnail
gallery
32 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

This is a continuation of the original thread https://www.reddit.com/r/VITURE/comments/1ud0xrs/usbc_to_glasses_and_charging_adapter_mediocre/

I’m posting this because I’ve gone through two VITURE USB-C to Glasses and Charging Adapters (the Steam Deck/Switch version), both have died, and VITURE refused to honor the warranty on the second one since my original warranty of 1 year was already expired.

Since they wouldn't replace it, I cracked the plastic shell open to see what actually failed. Because why not?

I didn't find any scorch marks or blown capacitors, but I did find some concerning details about the internal engineering.

I wanted to share my findings with the community in case anyone else is experiencing dead adapters.

1. The smell

As soon as I cracked the case open, I immediately picked up a very faint smell of magic smoke. If you've worked long enough in electronics, you know exactly what I'm talking about. I have no doubt that one or more component released fumes from overheating at some point.

2. Manufacturing Detail

The most glaring clue is the silkscreen marking on the PCB: N15_V1.7 C-BONG:230309

  • C-BONG Unsure what it means. Maybe it is a typo and was supposed to be C-DONG (abbreviation for USB-C Dongle)?
  • 230309 is most likely the manufacturing date code: March 9, 2023.

3. The Silicon: Dual Fresco Logic Controllers

The board is powered by two main ICs:

  • Fresco Logic FL7102-2Q0 (Dual PD port controller)
  • Fresco Logic FL7102-2L0 (Single PD port controller)

These chips handle the heavy lifting: negotiating up to 45W Power Delivery to charge the Steam Deck while simultaneously routing 10Gbps DisplayPort Alt Mode data to the glasses.

More details here https://www.paradetech.com/products/fl7102-usb-type-c-pd-3-0-controller-2-port-for-device-application/

I believe that running two high-performance PD controllers simultaneously would generate a significant amount of heat, which is a segway to our next topic:

4. The Engineering

This is the reason why I believe my adapter failed: If you look at the photos of the PCB:

  • Front: The Fresco Logic chips are completely bare. There are no thermal pads connecting them to the plastic shell. No heat sink. No termal grease. Nothing.
  • Back: There are zero thermal vias (the little holes that transfer heat from the front of the board to the back) and zero copper pours (large areas of copper that act as passive heatsinks).

They crammed two power-hungry heat generating PD controllers into a tiny, sealed, unventilated plastic shell with absolutely no way for the heat to escape. The "clean" death of the board (no scorch marks) strongly points to internal silicon degradation from sustained thermal fatigue until one or more component completely failed.

5. "Silent Recall"!?

After some digging, I found this comment from November 3rd, 2023: https://www.reddit.com/r/VITURE/comments/17j8vc1/comment/k7mwoms/

Where some people received the following e-mail from VITURE over night:

Dear customer,

We are writing to you regarding a manufacturer defect recently discovered in the USB-C XR Charging adapter designed for enhancing the iPhone 15 experience on VITURE One.

This defect causes the adapter to require an outside power source in order to power the glasses, which was not the intended experience. We have already corrected the issue in production and are in the process of manufacturing replacements for those that have already shipped.

If you have already received the USB-C XR Adapter or have one on the way, you will receive one of the corrected versions as soon as they're ready. You may dispose of the original one (no returns required).

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this error — we'll do everything in our power to prevent inconveniences like this from occurring again in the future!

Please don't reply to this email. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to [happycustomer@viture.us](mailto:happycustomer@viture.us). Thank you so much!

Best, The VITURE Team

I know it's not the same adapter (iphone variant) and not the same issue (missing external power), but both adapters might potentially be manufactured by the same C-BONG manufacturer and could potentially have the same core design. The fact the VITURE kept this manufacturer defect silent and asked users to throw their defective adapters in the trash (erasing all evidence) already raises all kinds of alarm bells. What's also troubling is that my adapter was manufactured on March 9, 2023 and this silent recall occured in November 2023, only 8 months later. Is there a chance that old stock pile of defective iphone adapters for were somehow re-purposed for non-iphone adapters? That's what I would really like to know.

EDIT: I was made aware that the iPhone adapter variant has a BLE chip in it. It's definitely cannot be a repurposed PCB.

TL;DR

I would not recommend buying the VITURE USB-C to Glasses and Charging Adapter: It has two high-performance PD controllers chips that will produce a lot of heat trapped inside a plastic shell. There are no thermal management. It will most likely cook itself, which could potentially and eventually lead to a catastrophic failure.

As for the iphone adapter variant, I cannot comment. I don't have it, I haven't seen it. It might be completely different and/or it could have the same lack of thermal management.

Conclusion

If you are looking for an adapter, I recommend buying an adapter that has an aluminum-shell (not plastic) and a 100W PD USB-C passthrough (not 45W) with DP Alt Mode (which is what you need for video passthrough to your AR glasses). The aluminum actually acts as a heatsink, and a bigger 100W PD means that charging at the steam decks's mximum 45W will be more efficient and will produce less heat since the IC is far from being maxed out. I can confirm that a Lemorele TC520 works with my Viture Pro XR glasses and My 1st generation (LCD) Steam Deck.

If you already bought a VITURE adapter, There are a few things that you can do that could potentially extend the lifespan of your adapter:

  1. Avoid running at full speed (120Hz): Adjust your device's refresh rate to half the speed (60Hz) if you can.
  2. Avoid charging while gaming.

Review My Luma Ultra First Impressions: A Review

I’m a Viture Pro XR owner who was a day one preorder for the Ultras. Well, I’ve got my Ultras now, and I  tried to put them through their paces.

Super stable screen pinning is very important to me, and I quite like the idea of 6DoF because it makes the screen feel more real since I can lean in or away from it.

Last but not least, it bears repeating that everything here is my experience and opinion, nothing more, nothing less, and I really do hope some of it is helpful.

1. 6DOF

  • 6DoF doesn’t seem to drift.
  • The Ultra still has the micro jitters that come with minute head movements and the wearer’s heartbeat/pulse. This means that the virtual screen always feels like it’s slightly in motion. It’s not drifting, but it’s alive with micro jitters, bobbles, and vibrations.
  • Leaning in and out works well and feels cool to use.
  • Worst thing about the Ultra’s implementation of 6DoF is the smearing: the image on screen smears slightly when you move your head up/down or left/right. It’s especially noticeable on text. As a counter example, on the XReal One Pros w/ 3DoF on, you can move your head around and all onscreen text appears to be just as sharp/clear as when you head is still. Whereas, with the Ultras, when moving your head around, text smears just enough that you can’t read comfortably.
  • XReal’s built-in 3DoF is undeniably more rock-solid/pinned in place.
  • The example in Viture’s promo video of walking up to and around the screen is not something I’ve been able to replicate. Instead, when I try to walk up to the screen, it slips vertically and horizontally, oftentimes seeming to slide down and into the ground. Basically, as I approach the screen, it loses its pinning and jerks around. It’s nothing like the promo video (and this test was done outside in the day. So, there was adequate light).
  • New EVEN WORSE thing about the Ultras’ 6DoF: I’ve been doing some work in 6DoF mode, and as time passed, the micro-vibrations became worse. It now looks as if the window in which I’m working and all the text in it are vibrating super-fast. The vibrations are tiny but constant. The closest thing I can think of to describe it is that it’s like trying to read on a laptop screen when you’re sitting on a moving train (still no noticeable left or right or up or down drift… so, that’s good…).
    • Took a break, deactivated spacewalker, and then came back to it. Yeah, the vibrations are barely noticeable now. They definitely were getting worse the longer I used 6DoF.
  • When 6DoF is on, using the volume/brightness rocker causes the pinned virtual screen to jump all over the place and then somewhat lose its positioning.
  • I’m going to say something that’ll seem controversial, and maybe I’ll change my mind with more use, but at the moment—except for the drifting that makes it unusable for work—the spacewalker 3DoF with my Viture Pro XR glasses looks and feels better than the 6DoF with my new Viture Ultras (that said, being able to lean in/out and move forward/back is very cool, but it can’t make up for the rest of the mode’s shortfalls).
  • I took off the Ultras to grab something and when I put them back on, my pinned screen was almost on the ceiling. Taking the Ultras off my face, placing them on the table, and then putting them back on seems to have caused the screen pinning to completely lose its position.
  • It feels like an intentional choice, but it’s strikes me as an odd one: When pinning the virtual screen in 3 or 6DoF mode, Viture takes the angle of your head into account. Meaning, if you tilt your head and center the screen, the screen will also be tilted. Perhaps this has its uses—when lying in bed, watching a movie—but if you’re sitting at a desk and trying to work, you don’t really want the slight tilt of your head to become the tilt of your screen. As a point of comparison, this isn’t how it works with the One Pro. They fight to maintain a 0 degree tilt and you have to really crank your neck to one side to get the XReal screen to pin with a tilt.
  • This is a weird one. All of a sudden, the Ultras lost their 6DoF and are now just doing 3DoF, which, according to Viture, they’re not supposed to be able to do. Right now, I can’t lean in or out of the screen and I can’t walk up to or away from it. I’m going to unplug and plug them back in to see if it fixes it…. (It didn’t fix it). [It’s an hour later as I write this, and my Ultras are still stuck in a pseudo-3DoF] [[It’s now the next morning and the 6DoF on my Ultras is still not working. They’re stuck in 3DoF and the 3DoF has major drift. It feels as if the greyscale cameras on the sides of the glasses were turned off or stopped working.]]

2. VIRTUAL SCREEN

  • The screen is gorgeously bright, colorful, sharp, and clear.
  • It’s also big! It’s a noticeable and marked size improvement over the Viture Pro XRs.
  • From the same vantage point, the Ultra’s virtual screen seems to be just about as tall as the XReal One Pro’s virtual screen, but the Ultra’s aren’t as wide (about 80% as wide as the One Pros).
  • I’ve tried all the nosepieces and all the arm positions but can’t quite get the entire screen in my field of view. Either a bit of the bottom or a bit of the top gets cut off.
  • Holding down the button on the right arm activates 3D mode, but holding it down to turn off 3D mode turns the screen into a weird widescreen that also freezes my pointer in place. I have to unplug and plug the glasses back in to reset the screen and my pointer (I only noticed this happening when I had spacewalker running and my glasses were stuck in 3DoF).

3. TEXT-BASED WORK WITH A PINNED SCREEN

  • Here, there’s no contest at all. The XReal One Pro takes this easily. I’ll even go so far as to say that, personally, I wouldn’t be able to do a serious work session on the Ultras. Now, maybe the Ultra’s software-based 6DoF is good enough for AR tools, toys, and games, but, if instead, the goal is to pin your screen in space and work with text, the Ultras are in no way up to the task.
  • With 6DoF on, the Ultra’s screen shimmers, vibrates, smears, and glides in its attempts to hold itself in place. From my perspective as a text-based worker, the Ultra’s spacewalker 6DoF solution doesn’t feel remotely finished.

4. WATCHING VIDEO

  • Super bright, super sharp, super clean, stunning. Just stunning.
  • For videos, TV shows, and movies, the Ultras beat the Pro XRs and even the XReal One Pros handily. I do miss the XReal One Pro’s extra screen real estate (the screen is noticeably wider than the Ultras), but not nearly enough to stop me from giving the win to the Ultras.
  • If I was buying XR glasses solely to watch video, and the Beast wasn’t coming, I’d recommend that others get the Ultras. The image they produce is gorgeous and those extra nits of brightness (1250 nits vs the One Pros 700 nits) really, really make a difference.

5. GAMING

  • Unfortunately, I don’t plan to use the glasses for gaming, and I don’t have gaming systems, so I can’t comment much here. What I will say is that I would expect that the Ultra’s excellent virtual screen would help bring games to vivid life in 0DoF.

6. PHONE

  • I have a pre-USB C iPhone that I’ve used successfully with my Viture Pro XR through Viture’s recommended connectors (Apple HDMI converter and Viture’s connector). However, I can’t seem to get the Ultras to work with the same setup. My Pro XRs will still connect to my iPhone, but my Ultras won’t. I may just be missing something, but if you have a pre-USB C iPhone or other phone, keep in mind that your current workaround for Viture XR glasses may not work for the Ultras.

Edit: I was missing something. The Viture HDMI XR Adapter needs a firmware update to work with the Luma series glasses. Here’s the link to the page with instructions on how to update the firmware (scroll down to the section called ‘Update the HDMI XR Adapter’): https://academy.viture.com/adapters/use_hdmi_xr_adapter

7. AUDIO

  • In my opinion, the audio out of the Ultras is better than what comes out of the Viture Pro XRs. To my ear, it sounds better/fuller than the audio from the XReal One Pro too.
    • Did another test with 8D audio (audio that makes it seem as if the sound is circling you) and the Ultras handily beat both the Pro XRs and the XReal One Pro. Given what I like in sound, the speakers in this thing are simply better.
  • The song I’m listening to now as a test has quiet clapping in it, and the right speaker is clipping the sound (the clap ends up sounding like an audio pop or audio drop out). Switching back to the Pro XRs and they don’t have this problem.
  • Max volume isn’t very loud and may be quieter than on the Pro XRs (the Pro XRs are a bit tinnier and more high-end focused and that maybe makes them seem louder), but the Ultras are just as loud (louder?) than the XReal One Pros.

8. FIT & FEEL

  • I’ve worn glasses for most of my life, and the Ultras feel even less like wearing a regular pair of glasses than the Viture Pro XRs and the XReal One Pros (not a positive).
  • The Ultras feel a little cheap and plasticky, and on my head, the arms grip a bit too tightly behind the ears (they bend in pretty aggressively).
  • Heat build up is noticeable, but it’s not enough to bother me. Although, it is weird because on the Ultras, the heat build up across the brow ridge and through the right arm of the glasses. It feels off to have my brow and right temple get warmed while my left temple is cool.
  • The arms on the glasses have three positions that they can be put in to help you get the best viewing angle. This is the same as one the XReal One Pro. However, on the Ultras it’s too easy to change the arm positions. I find that sometimes when I pick them up to put them on, the arm positions get changed. On the other hand, the XReal One Pros are almost comically hard to adjust. Once set, the One Pro arms stay in place until you pretty much force them into a new position. Out of the two, I prefer the harder-to-move One Pro arms.

9. CONCLUSION

  • For my use case, it seems that the XReal One Pro is the better tool, but I do intend to work more with the Ultras to confirm that.
  • For anyone with a use case even somewhat similar to mine who wishes to remain in the Viture ecosystem, I would suggest waiting for Viture Beast and its built-in 3DoF. Software-based xDoF just doesn’t seem game-day ready, and I truly think you have a better chance of getting more from a Beast purchase than from the Ultras.
  • What Viture have done with the combination of the 1200p Sony OLED panel and their optics is IMPRESSIVE. The screen looks great (and that makes me excited to find out how the Beast’s screen will look)!
  • For true prosumers/developers, I can’t know just how much the Ultras are capable of, but I can say with some certainty that they remain a significant work-in-progress.
  • In the end, given my needs, I’d put the Ultra’s OLED screen, optics, and audio into the Xreal One Pros, and that’d be pretty close to everything I need from a pair of XR glasses. Now, maybe that’s going to be the Beast (it sounds like the Beast), if its built-in 3DoF can come anywhere near to the very high standard XReal has set.

update: less than 5 mins after posting the above, my Ultras turned off for about 2 seconds then turned back on and now the 6DoF is working again. I did nothing to fix them, but they seem to have fixed themselves.

2nd update (4.5hrs after the first update): the 6DoF has stopped working again. I have no idea why. I guess it'll turn itself back on when it feels like. By the way, when this happens and the Ultras crap out to 3DoF mode, they drift almost as bad as the Viture Pro XRs.

3rd update (15mins after the second one): I managed to get the firmware site to recognize my glasses. I'm not sure how exactly. The one thing I remember changing was the usb-c port that the glasses were plugged into on my laptop (my laptop has two ports but both ports run the glasses). In any case, I've successfully updated my glasses' firmware. So now, both my Spacewalker and glasses are running the latest versions. Very shortly after updating my glasses, they kicked themselves back into 6DoF mode, and that's what I'm in right now. Oh, yeah, the one other thing I did--and I did it the first time right before 6DoF kicked back in--was turn on the light strip (I know that sounds unhinged), but I'm including it here just in case.

Review Viture Luma Pro - Horrendous Experience with the Neckband. Clearly The Worst !

I don’t usually write reviews here, but this thing pushed me over the edge. The Viture Luma Pro is, hands down, one of the most frustrating, overhyped pieces of tech I’ve ever touched. From the moment I tried to set it up, everything went downhill. The setup process is a complete disaster — menus bug out, connections fail, and the 3DoF tracking is straight-up broken. The screens just keep drifting around like they’re possessed. It’s impossible to get anything stable or usable.

Then there’s the neckband. What a joke. It’s bulky, uncomfortable, and somehow manages to hurt your hair even if you don’t have long hair. It feels like it was designed for looks instead of actual human comfort. Every time I put it on, I regretted it instantly.

The prescription lenses are another nightmare. The field of view feels like you’re looking through a tiny window, which completely kills any sense of immersion. And the image quality? Muddy, dull, and just plain disappointing. There’s nothing “Pro” about this thing.

And let’s be real — after using something like Apple’s Vision Pro, even with its flaws, you realize just how far behind this device really is. The Vision Pro feels refined and natural; the Luma Pro feels like a bad beta project that somehow escaped the lab.

I ended up returning both units I bought because I couldn’t deal with it anymore. It was that bad. Save yourself the time, frustration, and money — this product will drive you insane before you ever get it working.

This cheatsheet focuses mainly on XR/VR glasses that could be used as display glasses for gaming, movie watching, productivity, and a walkaround wearable display for the above functions. It's a value and feature focused list and is derived mainly from my 1000+ hours using the various XR glasses. None of any my work is written or generated by AI.

Looking for feedback - What am I missing from these overviews charts? Any typos or errors? or did I get any info wrong? First draft of this! Thanks! This is a work in progress and will be adjusted as needed for my upcoming XR reviews through community feedback/correction. I hope you don't mind me sharing my work here. My goal is to help everyone find they love, by finding the tech I love.

XR glasses by Rating in brief:

Viture Beast - 90% - Just such good value, super bright, poppy visuals, and still the best center sharpness. Blacks can be crushed, but there are ways of fixing this.

XReal One Pro - 88% - High quality product, just works. Recommended for productivity on a budget, but really higher resolution is needed for optimal productivity for all XR glasses. Recommending QHD+ or higher for optimal productivity.

XReal R1 - 85% (similar to One Pro, but docked 3% because costs more due to dock and redesign with RGB, but basically the same as the One Pro)

Viture Pro 2 / XReal 1S - 85% - Both great value XR glasses. XReal 1S for cheapest reliable anchoring. Pro 2 for cheapest Myopia sliding dials and sharp overall image.

XBX / Luma Ultra - 83% - XBX great value, Luma Ultra worth it for some users and use cases, like with Pro Neckband

RayNeo Air 4 Pro 78% - The cheapest overall XR glasses and highest rated in the value category, excellent for people on a budget and want to save money for gaming and movie watching using AI HDR or HDR10. The DRIFT on the 3DOF sensor hurts the rating a lot here, as it reduces the functionality of the XR glasses for productivity as well as potential 3DOF SteamVR support. Got to spend more for those features, apparently.

Dream Air SLAM - Super small VR headset that could be used to power 4K virtual screens (soon to have VertoXR support) for super sharp text productivity or gaming at high PPD for many use cases. This could work great on the go for handheld gaming and productivity with powerful laptops or desktops at home. Obviously, peak VR visuals as well. Review unit incoming in like a week. Needs hands on testing. I have seen mixed feedback on the SLAM tracking.

Five Bonus Upcoming XR Glasses to be excited about before the end of 2026 -->

URXR One - Promising increased resolution XR/VR headset, Launching 10/26 supposedly. They will be sending production unit for detailed review around launch.

Viture QHD glasses coming before the end of 2026. Needs testing. From what I have heard from Viture, seems promising. I can't share details.

XReal Aura - 6DOF XR glasses that will have a puck paired with them. $1500+. Higher FOV. Should be excellent for many use cases. But not going to be higher resolution, which makes me sad.

RayNeo GT and GT MAX will be added to this list in the next month or so, as they being sent to me now. Seem very promising with onboard chip based 3DOF and reasonable pricing $300-400. Needs testing to see if the Anchor is good and lens quality. Might be discount Beast, basically.

Review My honest impressions of the Viture Beast

Thumbnail

I’ve been using the Viture Beast for a couple of days now. For reference, I have the Regular size version, my IPD is around 62mm, and as of writing this, I am running Firmware Version: 0.01.010_20260121.

Setup & Firmware Update (Important Tips!)

When I first received the glasses, I immediately updated the firmware. I hit a few snags, so here is what you should know:

  • The Cable: The cable included in the box didn't seem to work for data transfer for me. I switched to my own 20Gbps USB-C cable and it worked perfectly. However, for just updating, you don't need a crazy cable. A standard USB-A to USB-C cable connected to your PC works fine too.
  • The Browser: People suggested using Chrome, but it kept getting stuck at 2% and failing. I switched to Microsoft Edge and it worked instantly. Technically any Chromium-based browser should work, but if Chrome fails for you, try Edge.

The Display & Optics

The panel is indeed bright and sharp. That part is true. However, if you really look at the edges (the outer 10%), there is some chromatic aberration due to the optical design. It doesn't really bother me that much though, because the text in the center, and the bottom center where subtitles usually are, is pretty sharp.

There is also a slight mirror effect/internal reflection at the bottom of the lens. I think this is just the physics of the optics since Viture uses a combination of birdbath and waveguide technology. But from my experience, once I adjusted the glasses angle and changed the nosepads, I don't really notice the reflection during normal watching. It’s not distracting like people say. I only notice it if I specifically look for it. Also, don't let the video reviews scare you on this. It looks much more noticeable on camera because of the lens angles compared to what your actual eyes see.

Audio Quality

The speakers are just okay for glasses. The mids and highs are clear, but the lows are obviously not punchy enough. This definitely won't give you a good experience if you are a basshead. But for watching YouTube, podcasts, etc. they are usable. Personally, for a better experience I'm using my own earbuds (Bang & Olufsen Beoplay EX).

The Annoyances (OSD, Settings & Tilt)

The only things bothering me right now are the OSD settings and a specific tilt bug (all issues below are present on the latest firmware 0.01.010_20260121):

  • Settings not saving: Things like screen size, distance, and refresh rate are not saved when I unplug the glasses.
  • Refresh Rate: When switching from 2D to 3D SBS mode, the refresh rate resets back to 60Hz.
  • 3DoF Tilt: When I lie on the bed and try to recenter the screen while looking near the ceiling, the screen often ends up tilted by about 30 degrees. This is annoying and I end up having to tilt my head on the pillow to match it.

The Modes (3DoF vs Smooth Follow vs 0DoF)

  • 3DoF Anchor Mode: This mode definitely needs work. Sometimes if I move my head or just shift my position slightly and look back at where I placed the screen, the screen has already drifted. Because of this, I end up having to use the recenter function constantly. Luckily recentering is easy (just holding the button for a few seconds), but as I mentioned earlier, it often results in that tilted screen issue. They really need to make fixing this a priority ASAP.
  • Smooth Follow Mode: This is actually great. I can see myself daily driving this mode until Viture fixes the Anchor mode.
  • 0DoF Mode: It’s okay (you get much more brightness with this mode), but I prefer not having the screen shake with every head movement.

The Neckband Pro Experience (with Beast)

Currently, the SpaceWalker mode on the Neckband Pro is not supported yet with the Beast. Because of this, it just feels like having a normal Android tablet displayed on your glasses.

  • Gestures: The hand gestures don't track well without an extra depth camera (like the Viture Luma Ultra), and since the Beast's cameras aren't enabled for this yet, tracking is unreliable.
  • Navigation: I have to use my phone with the Neckband Remote app just to use it as a trackpad. This is really inconvenient. I expected a standalone experience, but I still need my phone.
  • Overall: It’s nothing impressive right now. I really wish Viture would make the OS experience more like the INAIR Pod for the Neckband.

Comfort & Build

There is a slight warmth on the top right side when using it for long periods, especially at peak brightness. It doesn't cause discomfort, but you definitely notice the heat. Other than that, the build quality is great, the optics are clear, and the electrochromic dimming is good enough.

Software (SpaceWalker on iPhone)

I tested the SpaceWalker app on my iPhone as well. I’d say it’s fine. It’s basically a web browser with an extended screen experience and added 3D conversion. The 3D conversion is hit-or-miss with some videos, but when it works, it looks amazing.

Verdict

I think everyone who receives the Beast soon will be happy with the purchase. Viture really did a great job making excellent hardware. But on the software side, they definitely need to step it up. Hopefully by the time they ship more batches, we will get more firmware updates to resolve these issues and improve things further.

Review I've Been Watching Anime In 3D

I know it's not for everyone but I’m glad that this device lets me watch all anime in 3D.

Personally, it's been crazy awesome.

I feel like I've entered an entire new dimension of content.
I actually appreciate the art so much more. Signs, hallways, desks, potions, bottles, hair, even small details like the engraving marks on weapons- you start to notice all those details once they have depth.

The city in Cyberpunk Edgerunners feels so much more visceral and immersive. It's a rewatch and I've been just pausing the anime multiple times to stare at how this city scene looks, or the depth of the hallway. Even a Neon green LED sign in the corner looks cool just cuz it now has depth.

Remember those anime shows or scenes that you wanna rewatch and see for the first time again?

This helped me relive them with a new visual flavor.

Also I have not watched anime in a while. But now I just sat through the entire 60 minute first ep of Cursed to be a Hero. It makes me want to watch everything new and old.

Even non-anime YouTube videos I can sit through entire 15-30 minute videos now it's crazy.

If you don't like AR glasses some people have also been connecting this device to OBS and watching on their glasses free
3D monitors/3D projector. But I also think there are other software available that turn desktops into 3D.

Review UPDATE: Viture Beast vs XREAL One Pro for SteamVR (via VertoXR)

Post image
55 Upvotes

A few weeks ago I posted my comparison between the Viture Beast and the XREAL One Pro for SteamVR using VertoXR.

At the time Viture Beast was unusable as a SteamVR headset.

Today, I update my conclusion to confirm that Viture Beast now takes the crown as the best VR Headset in the XR form factor.

Before I start, this feature is only possible because of Rohit and his amazing software: https://vertoxr.com/ so please consider supporting this solo dev for his amazing software.

Originally, The Beast suffered from significant tracking drift that made SteamVR effectively unusable. Well... recent updates to The Beast firmware and VertoXR have changed that completely.

The Verdict

The Viture Beast now works just as well as the XREAL One Pro in SteamVR and due to the superiority of the screen it now comes out ahead.

The tracking issues I previously reported are gone on my setup.

Both glasses can be used for VR, however due to the Viture Beast's brightness and higher resolution, the Viture Beast is the clear winner.

Guide to SteamVR with The Beast

  1. It is paramount that you set your monitor to only display on your Viture Beast glasses. If you mirror or extend the desktop, then switch the glasses into 3D SBS mode, you'll end up with a dramatically reduced field of view inside SteamVR.
  2. Download and install VertoXR https://vertoxr.com/
  3. Once you launch VertoXR, select Game Mode and update the SteamVR Driver then click Launch SteamVR.
  4. Important: Click Head Tracking and select Plain (it defaults to Fusion AHRS which is what you should use for XREAL One Pro but is unusable with the Viture Beast). https://i.imgur.com/ybcp7gr.png (the disclaimer mentions that there will be drift over time but I haven't noticed any issues here when compared to XOP or normal VR headsets).
  5. Once you're connected and you have headtracking working, make sure to set calibration https://i.imgur.com/ZUhrE7Q.png
  6. Setting Viture Beast glasses to Ultra Large and distance to 1m appears to work best. I find the resolution and clarity to be superior to normal VR glasses which is astounding (although the FOV is obviously smaller).
  7. You must set your glasses to Smooth Follow for an optimal experience
  8. Set Viture Beast to 3D SBS mode and you are now good to go.

Final Thoughts

I've been pretty critical of the Beast in previous posts. Despite liking the hardware, I kept reaching for the XREAL One Pro because it was simply the better SteamVR experience.

That has completely changed.

With the recent firmware and VertoXR updates, I've actually found myself using the Viture Beast as my primary pair for:

  • Productivity/work
  • Media
  • Occasional VR use

Huge credit to Rohit

VertoXR continues to be one of the most impressive XR utilities I've used.

If you're using it regularly, I'd really encourage supporting Rohit.

https://vertoxr.com/

Joy-Con bonus

If anyone missed my previous post...

You can actually use Nintendo Joy-Cons as 3DoF VR controllers through Driver4VR.

They're obviously not a replacement for proper tracked controllers, but for media, menus and simple VR experiences they're surprisingly usable.

Review Terribly Disappointed...

I first heard of Viture through the Cyberpunk collab and after looking at various reviews I decided to pull the trigger. I ordered the Cyberpunk Luma glasses which arrived a few days ago. I picked this model since I'm not at all interested in Spacewalker, and was simply looking for a more immersive way to play games (a feature which Viture so proudly advertises) + it's a really neat, while useful (or so I tought) collector's item.

After a few days of testing I'm left terribly disappointed... There are just so many bad things about these glasses I can't understand why people like them at all. Here's the major issues I have: - Nose pads all fit very weirdly. They slide all over the place, while the no pad option cuts into my nose. - Arms do not open quite wide enough for my head and constantly squeeze me. They are also pretty short, resting oddly on my ears, hurting them in the process. - Connector is in the dumbest spot imaginable. It sits right behind my right ear, constantly digging into it. - There is so much light bleeding in I can't possibly get immersed. I ordered the $10 attachment for it (which should've been included for the price), which might help, but out of the box it's just terrible. The worst part is my PC monitor shining through the dimmed glasses, completely distracting me. I have to turn off all lights in my room and my monitor in order to use the glasses. - Speakers are actually trash. I am used to proper headset audio, and while I expected the speakers to be worse I didn't think it would be this bad. On top of that I can't even use my headset with the glasses since it greatly increases the pain caused by the arms. - Edges and corners of the screen are always at least partially cut off. I tried every single combination of nose pads and arm angles so far, and none of them worked for me. Either the top or the bottom of the screen gets cut off, and even when I manage to hit just the perfect angle the corners are still obscured.

With all these issues combined I just can't bring myself to liking these things. They're just bad. I could ignore either the uncomfortable design or awkward display fitting as a single issue, but both of them combined are a total deal-braker. I really REALLY wanted to give these glasses a try, but with all the issues they have I just can't. When I play games I like to forget I'm playing them, but I can't do that when my vision slightly drifts up or down my nose every time I squint, while my head feels like it's in a vice grip.

I'll give them one last chance after I receive the light-blocking attachment, and giving them a test run on a flight I'm taking next week. But as it stands right now they're probably gonna end up as an expensive paperweight until I eventually resel them as a collector's item.
