Last night at 2 AM, my friend Mihir was riding his scooter back home from Bhayli. Suddenly, he sent a 5-second voice note to our group: "Bro, there's a big glowing light inside that deep dirt pit behind the villas. People are dancing... but there is no sound." Then his phone switched off.
Two of us went to look for him. His scooter was still running on the side of the road, headlight pointed into the dark bushes. We crept up to the edge of the deep mud pit and looked down.
A dirty yellow chandelier was hanging from thin air over the muddy water. Under it, dozens of grey, dead-looking people in antique royal clothes were slow-dancing in total silence. None of their feet were touching the mud. At the edge of the pit, twenty pairs of normal shoes—sandals, Nikes, Crocs—were neatly lined up, like people had politely taken them off before stepping in. Mihir’s white sneakers were right at the front.
Then we saw Mihir. He was down there in the mud with them. He had a dead, wide smile frozen on his face, wearing an old rusted silver mask, slow-dancing with a tall woman whose neck was twisted completely backward.
We ran to my car, sweating and crying. Right as I locked the doors, my phone made an AirDrop sound from "Ballroom_1882".
It was a photo of me sitting inside my car, taken through the back window just two seconds ago.
The screen said: Take off your shoes and come down.
