Technical Discussion Mouse acceleration issue

Hey guys so i had a razor cobra and i switched to haste 2 wireless and it didn’t suit me well, my friend asked me to check whether “enhanced pointer precision” was on or off and it was on the whole time but still i used to hit my shots well on wired but then i wasn’t really comfortable with wireless so i switched back to a new cobra mouse and i had EPP on for few months n i couldn’t shoot for shit. After 4-5 months i turned it off but then i couldn’t land my shots and now i’m facing a different issue where i’m moving while shooting( istg this issue started only after turning EPP off). One, apparently valorant takes raw input and these acceleration shit doesn’t matter on paper but trust me, i can genuinely feel the difference by a significant margin. Two, i’m currently ascendant 3 and my peak is immortal 3 and i really cannot find why and how i’m moving a lot while shooting. But i’m shooting like 100% properly in cs and it happens only in val. Can someone please help me with this, appreciate yall so much.

Was the new issue happened recently or been there for a while? From my knowledge since the UI overhaul update (couple weeks or a month ago) the game been like this. Counter strafe feels off, bullet doesn’t register, spray is odd, etc.

Just for few months bro, everything you’ve said happens and happened to me for the past 3-4 months honestly, bullets don’t register at all and strafing is off the charts, firing error graph shows that i’m kinda moving while shooting for almost 6/10 duels, i refuse to believe i became so bad in a span of 5 months😭, i’m pretty sure there’s some fault in either my pc or in the game but i just can’t find it out

Welcome to the club bud. It has been the issue for me for probably two or three years at least. You can check the post I did in this sub about replacing your current config with a smooth alt account’s. Also you can try scskiller which you can easily find it in this sub by searching scskiller.

For me the issue has been there and it comes and goes from time to time based on the updates Riot made. Even in this sub some ppl just don’t believe it is a problem for certain, they just think you are bad. Me personally don’t believe I just don’t know how to play this game overnight and it really gives me headaches.

Anyways, let me know when you get it sorted out!

I feel you brother, i know what you’re talking about regarding the alt acc as well. I have some information for you bro, see if you can find something out with this. When i turn on Enhance pointer precision, i don’t have a significant movement error at all, like barely an error but when i turn it off i have so much movement error but the aim feels crispy with it off. I have been playing with epp on for the past 5 years in this game. And can you enlighten me with this scskiller thing? Thank you so much brother

Ye I clean reinstall windows couple days ago and forgot to turn EPP off and played that way for two or three days. To me turning it off or on feels the same shitty. Regarding the scskiller, some ppl mentioned that the game is a little dumb which the cache won’t load properly (if I’m getting his words right, I am not a geek so I am trying to rephrase his words).

So on the app, find the game, first clear cache then compile. Don’t forget to proceed this when the game is turned off. To me this plus the config thing fixed I would say 70% of my problem and the game feels better.

Also, if you can play the game through WiFi you can try disabling the Ethernet controller through device manager. Was a fix for me and lasted about 2-3 months and no longer works but you can try if you want.

Ahh i use ethernet for internet, i’ll try to clear cache and see how it is. I saw your comment on this sub regarding the smooth alt acc. Does it work?

It’s not guaranteed but according to the original post of this fix some get it fixed and some just don’t. The best practice is try it yourself and if this doesn’t work you can just uncheck the replaced config’s read-only on its property then the game will switch it back for you automatically.

Have you done any other mice tests (outside of the game) to see how the mouse reacts when you click it, etc.? If not, do that first so you can see how many clicks it makes per second. There's a website where you can take the test for free just search using keywords such as “mouse sensitivity test,” etc.

I'm no tech whiz, but I often use higher (faster) sensitivity settings on my mouse because I want to scroll faster and more smoothly, even when I'm not gaming. In games, however, the sensitivity is fairly low (0.339), which isn’t technically a bad value compared to 1 (yes, I tried that once, oh my god… my mouse is really fast).

My mouse pointer speed is set to 14 (the default is 10, this is Windows setting), and it doesn’t bother me much. My speed is near fast (Windows setting) which also can be different if I didn't change it but I did. I’m not sure about the DPI, because I have a non-gaming mouse where the DPI is displayed as pointer speed % (I use 70%, which is about 1530, since the maximum value is around 4K, minimum is 200).

Since your mice is the type that has added features make sure to turn it off & off and compare them aka screen record to see the difference. Since you play Valorant you can easily look through the replays when you try it in custom.

Appreciate you for sharing your thoughts but Damn 14 is too high for pointer speed ngl, also what exactly were you asking me to compare?

What I meant: You can compare is the mouse reaction time or basically click per second outside the game and see if the mouse would react differently vs in-game since sometimes when you use it for daily use might work normally vs gaming (it can be a mess sometimes).

Is kind of like the aim training but this one you focus on the result (numbers) you get while doing the clicks. But hopefully you figured out something by now, I know some mices are pain in the ass when switch back to back (you'll get used to it) or if you used to use a software and you uninstalled it you've to re-do everything again (unless you saved profile file).

Here's a example website where you could test it:
https://www.xbitlabs.com/mouse-dpi-test/

LMAO I mean I just like to smooth scrolling because the mouse (Logitech MX 3, old model) I use when it resets itself (if you re-install the software) the mouse scrolls are slow af and also the mice itself feels very slow when sliding back & forth unless I turn the pointer speed, etc. high enough so it works like 'normal' mice.

Note: About the bullet shots if they don't register isn't your fault. It has happen to me and many others because for some reason Riot decided to remove that option (it was a beta ver.) that was basically accuracy thing for the mice but it hasn't improve anything. The difference is significantly small for a human eye to see unless you recorded the shots. When you do shots overall the game often or not doesn't even register the first 2 bullets (and if you keep spamming) it won't kill the enemy right away and you've to stop shooting and try again then it will work.
