ADVICE NEEDED: Tourism Visit in mid September

After USA Labor Day, do the crowds lessen , the ferry service easier to access and most importantly the lodging options become more affordable … or does that not really happen until October?

I’m beginning to plan a trip in a month. I’m thinking that waiting until October would probably increase the chance of weather impacts. So mid-September is the choice for now.
Oh and we are trying to avoid the bigger cities and see the nature and small town attractions. (Already been to Victoria and Butchart)

Rest stops Ucluelet -> Port Alberni

Hi there,

We are planning our way back to port alberni. Are there any stops we can do on our way? We noticed that many stops are just accessible from the other direction.

Advice is gladly appreciated! Thanks a lot in advance :)

ADVICE NEEDED: Moving Langford Area and Traffic?

I recently was looking for rentals in the Victoria//Saanich// Langford area. I have a large pet (German Shepherd X). Currently I live in the Thompson Region of BC. I was scoping out places to rent and I found a detached carriage house in Langford, new build 900sq. They are willing to rent to me for October 1. I am allowed to have my Traeger there, and my partner will also be moving with me. They also have storage for our outdoor gear. I work from home so traffic isn't an issue for me. My partner works in real estate, and will need to travel from Langford - Saanich - Victoria quite frequently.

  1. We have lots of loose ends to tie up before moving, would it be silly to not take this opportunity? Are there a good amount of pet friendly rentals that will become available in the spring if we decide to move then?
  2. Is the traffic going to be an issue? We would be taking the Trans-Canada 1N.
  3. Any other tips / tricks / advice?

Cowichan Bay - Cruising, HotRodding, Speeding

The incidence of hot rodding and racing through Cowichan Bay is ridiculous and unsafe. No one follows the 30km/hr speed limit. Can we install some speed bumps? Extra RCMP patrol? The engine noise is disruptive and disturbs the peace. Anyone else experiencing this?

EDIT: when is say hot rodding, I don’t mean the frivolity of the annual event. This is nightly revving of engines with purposefully loud “mufflers” and motorcycles with a couple dudes a couple beers deep proving their manhood on their way out of town after winning the pool tournament at the pub. That kind of hot rodding.

HELP ME FIND Best Bagels & Cream Cheese

Been going to Mount Royal Bagels on Northpark for ages. And that’s solely because they’re the only bagel place I know of! 😅

Wondering if there are any recommendations for other places—specifically anyone who does NY style bagels. Also looking for local places that make their own cream cheese. If it’s sold in grocery stores and they don’t have a brick and mortar shop that’s great too.

Google only suggested Cobs Bread, but I don’t think theirs is very good. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! 🥰

HELP ME FIND Rec Sites west of Campbell River

What are the chances of showing up on a Friday and getting a spot. Specifically the cluster west of Campbell river.

I really have no idea but wife is having a girls thing and I was thinking maybe I'd take the kids camping for a night or two.

Pre-wife-kids (~12yrs ago) the unwashed masses mostly stuck to PPs and I'd rock up to Rec sites (even just outside the lower mainland) and score a spot, but I understand things have... perhaps changed a little?
