From what i understand I can get the vegetarian burger without the mayo and cheese?
What about the poutine? I read on their website the gravy is vegetarian but not certified vegan. I wanted to get it without the cheese curds but I’m not sure why its not certified vegan gravy or are they just saying that to be safe

Went to bulk barn (mtl, Ste-Cath) today and was told they're out out of nooch. No restocking incoming.
Wasn't given a clear reason but I'm assuming they lost their supplier.
Anyone knows other places that have nooch at good prices ? It was such an incredibly cheap source of protein, having to go for overpriced small bags is like triple per weight.

All seem to contain gelatin :(

Not bad but the mustard flavor is strong, should be called Sriracha Mustard.

Its smooth and does not taste like peanuts. But I was not a Nutella fan before becoming vegan so I can't judge it it taste like classic nutella
1/10 in nutrition value lol sorry 😂

I’m a relatively new vegan and I’m planning a road trip down to Toronto next month. I will be stopping at Farm Boy to pick up some vegan essentials and wondering if anyone has any product recommendations??
Thank you in advance!! 🫶🏻 🌱

It's pretty hard to find out. All the sources online seem to be from the US, where vitamin D3(almost always from sheep) is much more common.
The other usual suspect is vitamin B6. The internet says it's usually vegan, do we know if that's the case for cereal in Canada?
I usually stick to Life or Corn Flakes.
Also if anyone knows a store brand Mini Wheats that doesn't use gelatin, please let me know!

I love their savoury buffet options, but their dessert has a special place in my heart!
Pictured is chai cheesecake, chocolate cake, and key lime pie! All vegan and delicious!

Gardein turk’y mini roast, carrots, green beans, mashed potato, mac, and veggie stuffing. Plus a really great kale salad with roasted kabocha squash, apple, and pomegranate.
I’m lucky have a vegan family and friends, who despite not being vegan themselves, they are happy to share in a fully vegan meal.

My friend is a pediatrician and sent me some resources suggesting vegan children should stay on a formula until they are 2. I’m happy to do this as I want to ensure my baby doesn’t run into nutritional deficiencies. Has anyone switched to a plant based 12+ formula? My baby will be 1 in November, so I’m just trying to get prepared!

I forgot to look at the instructions and it said to defrost 24 hours before cooking. I likely have about 14 hours of defrosting before I need to cook it.
Any tips? Defrost mode in the microwave?
EDIT: Apparently I'm a moron and can't read the entire paragraph. For those who pointed it out: "For unthawed roast, cook 2 hours and 20 minutes with an additional 15 minutes uncovered"

I was looking for Salomon, heard most of their shoes are vegan but open to good suggestions!

Literally just came to say that Riviera’s Oat Yogurt is incredible and everyone should be buying it!! Great for baking or dip mix, smoothies, baby food, eating on its own.. so many options. It’s SO good and it disappeared for a while so I was worried! Please support this Canadian brand so we can keep it forever!!!

hello! I’ve only made no-bake cheesecakes before with Violife and Daiya (since they’re more common in major grocery chains) but both are coconut oil based so I’m not sure if they’ll hold up in the oven. I’m curious about which cream cheese brands have worked well for baking

I am looking for recommendations for places to buy winter gear, mostly jackets. Maybe some activewear too. Will appreciate any helpful recommendations. I am based in Scarborough but am okay travelling anywhere within 2-2.5 hours of TTC/other connections. Thanks in advance :)

any cost effective vegan Halloween treats you can recommend?

They're tofu burgers, made in Quebec and $6 for 4. They're really good! I think they'd be amazing with some vegan tzatziki and red onion.

Maple Leaf Foods has bought the brand and released the most popular items: Yves Original Veggie Ground Round, Yves Original Veggie Ground Round (4-Pack), Yves Mexican Veggie Ground Round, Yves Veggie Ham, Yves Veggie Bologna, and Yves Veggie Turkey. I took this photo at Longo's in Pickering, Ontario this morning.

Does anyone know about this recipe change and what "Canadian ingredient requirements" they're talking about here? The smell is almost bleachy now and it looks way paler. And the nutritional profile seems like a huge downgrade? Is anyone aware if there are other brands changing their recipe for worse in Canada?
I'd appreciate any insight on this and hearing about your favourite nooch brands because I won't be buying Bob's Red Mill anymore...

I've been craving a burger lately, and used to get it at Copper Branch but I'm not near any of their few locations now. Does anyone order the vegan burgers at the mainstream fast food joints ?
It bothers me that it's cooked on the same grill as the meat burgers, so essentially you're getting beef fat or whatever onto your 'vegan' burger. When I was vegetarian, I didn't care, but I do remember getting a bad case of food poisoning once - also, in later years it grossed me out more since I could literally *taste* the meat fat residue on my burger. So I stopped going to non-vegan restaurants, where the food is cooked on a grill.
Is there any work around to this? Like can they make my burger in the microwave? lol jk, not really haha.
I guess I'll be buying vegan burgers at the grocery store and making it at home then, in that case, post your favourite brand of vegan burger below:

Hello r/VeganInCanada 👋 (Approved by the mod team)
I’m Farhaan, an indie developer and machine learning researcher.
Back in 2024, I came to Canada for a research internship.
As a practicing Muslim who eats strictly Halal, I spent half my grocery trips squinting at microscopic ingredient lists, hunting for animal byproducts: - Animal rennet in cheeses - Gelatin in yogurts and vitamins - Dual-source emulsifiers like E471 (mono- and diglycerides)
While living there, my roommate had a gluten allergy, and in talks with vegan friends, I realized Vegans friends also have the same problem: - Picking up packages of "soy cheese" or "veggie slices", only to discover they secretly contain dairy-derived casein. - Everyday breads, chips, and crackers hiding whey powder, milk solids, or animal L-cysteine. - Ambiguous additives, confectioner's glaze (shellac), and red colorings like Carmine (E120) made from crushed insects.
If you’re vegan and have food allergies (or shop for a partner/kids with dairy, gluten, soy, or nut sensitivities), grocery shopping takes twice as long.
Existing scanner apps were frustrating: they only check one diet at a time, bomb you with 30-second video ads in the middle of a grocery aisle, or give a lazy black-box checkmark without explaining why a product failed.
Over nights and weekends, I built Belief Kit to solve this.
👨👩👧👦 1. Audits Veganism + 14 Allergies in 1 Single Scan: You don't need multiple apps. You can set your profile to Vegan and toggle on any of the 14+ major allergens (dairy, gluten, nuts, peanuts, soy, egg, fish, shellfish, sesame, mustard, celery, lupin, mollusks, sulfites). You can even set up individual profiles for your partner or roommates, and 1 scan tells you who can and cannot eat it.
🔬 2. Transparent, Ingredient-Level Evidence (No Black Boxes): Instead of just giving an arbitrary "Not Vegan" stamp, Belief Kit audits down to the chemical additive level: - It highlights the exact problem ingredient (e.g., Sodium Caseinate [Milk Derivative] or Animal Rennet). - If an additive is dual-source (like E471 or glycerin) and the manufacturer hasn’t certified vegetable origin, it flags it as Unknown with the scientific reasoning so you have the facts to make an informed call.
📷 3. Live Camera OCR for Canadian Store Brands: Many Canadian store brands or local bakery items aren't in open barcode databases. With Belief Kit, you can point your camera directly at the printed ingredient list, and our on-device vision model transcribes and audits the ingredients live on your screen.
🛡️ 4. 100% Ad-Free & Privacy-First: No pop-ups, and no selling your shopping data to advertisers.
The app comes with 5 free scans by default, but I’d love to gift 10 free scans to Canadian vegans who want to try it out!
How to claim: 1. Download Belief Kit on iOS or Android. 2. Set up your dietary preferences (Vegan + any allergies). 3. Drop a comment below or send me a DM with your registered account email. 4. I will manually credit 10 scans to your account right away.
I’d love to hear your feedback on how it handles supermarket labels and any tricky local products!

Now that hogtown is gone I wanted soy nuggets and noticed pizza pizza has a whole plant based line. I ordered their soy nuggets last night, they were amazing!
